The title says it all, really :) We stopped here on the way to the Bridge Between Continents and the Blue Lagoon, and we were not disappointed. The prices were very reasonable, we got a lot of food for what we paid, and it tasted really good. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked, the fries were just as they should be and the staff was very nice. Would definitely recommend this place :)

My 11 year old daughter found Papas on the internet before we came so we thought we would try after a full on day sightseeing at Geysir and Gulfoss. Stopped on way back to Northern Lights Inn Hotel . We arrived just before 6, only ones in and within 10 mins was near in full !Lovely fish and chips , children opted for pizza and were not disappointed . Super quick service and knowledgable waitress . Finished meal off with chocolates and neck warmer / which were complimentary . The girls were really impressed and looking forward to wearing them tomorrow .

Me and my daughter stopped by there yesterday, never been before but will go again. The setting is very casual and the vibe was relaxing, our food was really good and plenty of it, both of us only got thru half of our potions and we were very hungry when we got there. I had the best fish and chips I have ever had and wish I could have finished it. My daughter suffers from a peanut allergy and I was very impressed when the chef came out to talk to us about it. The girls that were working there were lovely and we got very good service. Would highly recommend a stop here.

Visited Papas's after viewing the volcano. Found it located in Grindavik along the shipping warehouses which are responsible for crating and delivering their fresh catches abroad. My son is vegan so he was able to eat a vegan hamburger with sweet potato fries there. I had the salted cod and it was the freshest fish I've ever ate! I was a little leery of the fried salted cod over the regular fried cod but I am so glad I tried it. I ate every bite! It wasn't overwhelmingly salty - no saltier than French fries. The staff there speak English well and made sure that our visit was accommodating. If your in the area, make this a stop on your itinerary!

Cute little spot just outside of town. Service was good and friendly and the food was super tasty. It tasted very fresh and I think they cooked everything to order so nothing was sitting out. Highly recommend the fish and chips!

Was with a small group tour in Grindavik looking for a bite to eat…we stopped the first person we saw to ask about a restaurant with fish ‘n chips. Turns out he was the owner of Papa’s! He opened a few minutes early for us and we ALL raved about our meal(fish ‘n chips, of course, all the way around). Fun, casual and clean. Our waitress “Princess” was terrific, too. Highly recommend.

CAVIAT: This one-star review is NOT reviewing the quality of the food, because, well, I did not get a chance to eat it, let me tell you why. I feel extremely disappointed with the service at Papa’s Restaurant. I have been living in Iceland for a year and a half, and I have never experienced this type of, well… LACK of service really. I was in the food and beverage industry from many years, and I know what it is to provide excellent customer service and what it looks like to not providing any at all. Let me explain. Today, I decided to eat at this restaurant, for the first time, because of their amazing reviews. I thought, how can I go wrong right? I am about to start work, and I really wanted to go out and enjoy lunch with my husband before we had to pick up the kids from school and before starting our workday. My husband and I decided to show up right after the restaurant opened for lunch, so that we could just go in, enjoy our meal and leave. We walk in, and there is a large party ordering ahead of us, no problem! We are next. We place our order and sit down with a drink. Some time goes by, and the large group ahead of me get all of their meals served. Great!, (or so I think) But what happens, what went wrong? Well, let me tell you...while the large group before us gets served, 3 other customers (3 different parties) place their order and sit down. As I sit there, I see that after the large group is served, the customer that came after me gets served. I find it odd, because, well… I ordered right after the large group that was already served, immediately when the restaurant opened...but I do not think much of it… like I said, I can be reasonable, and maybe their meal was faster to prepare than ours (mind you I ordered a salad). I get up and approach the counter to order another drink, because well… I was able to drink my entire beverage slowly, and still, I did not have my food… and at this point, I was still willing to wait. As I wait to order my drink, I see another table get served before me. I just could not believe it. I do not know why they totally skipped us more than once… but I have to say that it is unacceptable service. Although we had already paid for the meal (in this restaurant you pay before being served), I just could not stay, I had to walk out. I left hungry, disappointed, and well, not interested in visiting this restaurant ever again. I read in the reviews that this was a family restaurant… well, I have 4 children, and I would most definitely would not bring them here, not for this type of service or better said... lack of service. I leave this review to encourage the manager or owner of this establishment to take a hard look at the way the back of the house is being handled. I can understand that in a busy restaurant, I must wait to be served, but to see 2 parties served before me when I was the second party placing an order right after opening… no, just no.

Ordered pizza for delivery one night in Grindavik. Fast delivery and tasty food. The next day we went into the restaurant—they were busy and apologized for the wait, but it wasn’t too bad. We got fish and chips, baked cod, and our picky son ordered breadsticks. Everything was quite tasty. We even took the breadsticks back to our hotel and reheated them the next day.

We had a very nicemeal in this restaurant while we arrived a few minutes before closure. The fish'n chips was verywell prepared, the presentation was very nice and the dish was exxcellent. The vegetarian burger was also very good and the fries made of sweet potatoes are unforgettable.

We were so pleased to stop at Papa's in Grindavik after visiting the Blue Lagoon. Catherine was our hostess and she was absolutely great! Fantastic food, good portions and quick service. Reasonable prices (for Iceland). Good fish & chips, many other choices and very long pizza menu. Catherine was so accomodating to us that she satisfied my curiosity about eating rotten shark by offering me a taste! Thank you for your hospitality and we will definitiely return next time we are in Grindavik!

We loved the casual, laid back and friendly vibe at Papas. And we also really loved their delicious food - especially their fresh, flaky and amazingly crispy Fish & Chips! World class without a doubt! The pizza was also quite tasty. The portions are generous, so you definitely won't go away hungry. Plenty of locals seemed to be visiting as well, so the place was hoppin but service was still quick. If you are looking for a fancy dinner, this might not be your place. However if you want to kick back and relax with a beer and some friendly folks over dinner, you can't beat the hospitality at Papas!

We went here after our hike to the volcano in Reykjanes. To be honest, their little promo signs on the trail made us recognize the name when we went into Grindavik to refuel our gas. Since it rained, we decided to have our lunch here. We absolutely didn't regret our last minute decision! Interior looks like a diner, not too cosy, but clean and well maintained. The service was nice and friendly and everyone spoke English very well. When the power stopped because of the storm, they stayed nice and even managed to already finish one of our orders. The food is very comforting. We had the fish and chips, the langoustine sandand the beef sandwich. Big portions and nice fries. The fish was excellent, very tender with a very crispy crust. This is the ideal place to go after enduring the cold and wet weather up the hills.

First off, Christine is an amazing service. Very friendly, and so helpful! We loved her. :) There was a sign that said they made great fish & chips and they were right. The fish was perfectly cooked, not heavily battered and crispy. Fries were great. Everything was seasoned well down to the coleslaw. Great portion of food too. LOVED this place and highly recommend it! By the way, there is a bar side and a restaurant side that is divided. The bar side has a decent sized tv to watch sports if you are a sports watcher.

Papas Restaurant Grindavík was a lunch stop on a day tour and from the moment the small group entered the establishment, Kristin was all smiles and welcome. As the spot catered to both tourists and locals, and adhering to Covid restrictions (extraordinary clean bathrooms and plenty of space for people to practice social distancing if preferred) I was overly jazzed to see bbq ribs on the menu! As a Black-American, I was completely intrigued and overlooked the “world’s best” fish & chips entirely. Having had fish and chips on several other places on my journey, my tastebuds were craving a different kind of titillating. No regrets! The ribs were baby back slabs, tender and dripping in real bbq sauce. Accompanied by fries and an extra side of sauce, I was in heaven. After checking in on the group a couple of times, Kristin was polite through and through. A bubbly and amicable personality worthy of praise. Thank you Kristin for treating us w such care and enthusiasm ☺️

I have just eaten the best Fish and Chips in the world served by Christine the best waitress in Grindavik. We all had the fermented shark challenge which was the best fermented shark I've ever eaten. Great restaurant and Christine was great fun.
