About
Piccola Cucina Osteria it's our gem in the heart of SoHo. The Chef and owner Philip Guardione opened in January 2013 to bring in the city the real taste of Sicily. Friendly service with a buzzy atmosphere, all in a typical Italian restaurant setting. It is matched by home cooking like you would expect to eat in Italy, which is one of the keys to the success of the restaurant. Fully renovated in 2021 the location looks warm and cozy. Our other two Piccola Cucina locations in Manhattan are:Piccola Cucina Estiatorio ( 75 Thompson street )Piccola Cucina Uptown ( 106 E 60th Street )Piccola Cucina Osteria accepts online requests for parties smaller than 6 guests only.If you are looking for a bigger party or special event, please contact us info@piccolacucinagroup.comThank you

This restaurant is very small so you have to make a reservation but it is so worth it. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious, the staff are super friendly and fun, and the whole scene in the restaurant is like a little party! Highly recommend.v

This was a great NYC Italian restaurant experience! Check to see if you need reservations, we did even on a Monday evening for an early seating of 4 (early being 6:30 pm). The place is packed and stays packed with one table turning over to another because it is that good. I've been gluten free for over 13 years and was delighted to find that several of their menu items were offered as GF (not sure if there's no cross contamination-- I'm not celiac). It's cozy, meaning it's a full, tightly seated restaurant. Worth it! Worth every bit. Great service, good fine, good wines, good people!

We had read previous reviews so we figured we were in for a decent meal but it turned out to be absolutely excellent in every way, food wise. My friend had the octopus salad which was a whole grilled tentacle and absolutely scrumptuous. I had the wild boar tagliatelle which was just wonderful. Their tomato sauce is not acidic, sweet nor overly spiccy. Very very good. I had also started out with a burrata which was also excellent. The insalata with it was perfection. Wines by the glass were reasonably priced and decent. The ONLY complaint I have is that the tables are SO close together that is it amost impossible to maneuver between them. A couple of wine glasses were broken by folks while we were there. As much as I hate them, maybe they should go to stemless glasses? It is quite boisterous inside so not a good place for a quiet meal but the food truly makes up for that. We did have a reservation but arrived early on a Sunday night and they were able to accommodate us. Would definitely return here.

Visited last night on my partner’s birthday (21 Jan) and the food was nice (had homemade pasta dishes) and was very reasonably priced for an otherwise super expensive city. However there are a couple of downsides. The restaurant is very dark (can barely see the menu) and tiny with tables and people crammed in, especially if you’re on the table next to the door. Also, next to the restaurant on the outside left hand side there is a large plastic double door, which resembles many outside plastic restaurant doors they have in NYC before the actual main entrance. Due to the restaurant being so dark and the specials A board being outside the plastic door, I thought it was the restaurant door. Pushed it open, took a step and promptly fell down a very steep staircase in the pitch dark. This has resulted in me having a very sore leg and a large hand-sized bruise on it but it could have been much worse. My partner wanted to mention it to the restaurant but it was his birthday, I was hideously embarrassed and didn’t want to make a fuss, so didn’t. However, the restaurant really needs to think about securing the underground supply door and moving the A board so that this doesn’t happen (or worse) to anybody else.

We chose this restaurant because it was highly rated and open late so we could eat a real dinner after a Friday night show. Thirty seats in a single small room, but the food was so good. l had the green tagliatelle and meatballs, my wife had the ravioli and rice balls. A great glass of red wine and the best cannolis I have had in a restaurant in New York. The service was fabulous and despite the lack of space, they make it work because they are one team. We were probably 25 years older than all the staff and other patrons, but were made VERY welcome. We will definitely be back.

Was in the area for a business event looking for a place to grab dinner. Followed Trip Advisor guidance and decided to give this place a try. On a Monday evening we had to wait 45 minutes to get a table but it was well worth the wait. There were a lot of regulars most speaking Italian which we thought was a good sign. We were right! This is not a spot for a romantic private dining experience, very small tight dining room but it was clear that this is a premier eatery in Soho. The service was exceptional and the food was incredible! I will go back whenever I am in this part of the city.

This is NOT a #1 Restaurant in New York! Dont be fooled by this ranking. Yes, the food is very good. Yes, the staff is very friendly. BUT they forgot to tell you that they simultaneously seat 40 people in 20 sq.m room. This has been the most uncomfortable seating we have had in New York restaurants so far. As for the pictures you see : they were made by the owners. The guys with smiling happy faces sitting around the tables are the waiters of this restaurant! So, be careful.

Dear customer, we're sorry to hear that. As our customers know, Piccola Cucina Restaurants are small but this is also our strenght: a cozy and familiar place where you can eat real Sicilian food and feel like home! Of course if you prefer a more confortable place and a lot of space this is not the right choice but our staff is always available for everything and they always smile like our customers (that had taken the pictures) because they like Piccola Cucina style and vibes! Thanks Piccola Cucina Group

We visited in Feb 2020 from near Manchester, UK, yes the place is small and you feel like you are sitting on the lap of the next person but the food is amazing - and I am not an Italian food fan. The staff and manager was amazing, really passionate about their food and getting to know and keep their customers happy, we had great banter with them and we were only on the second day there. Really recommend this place, and I apologise this review has taken so long! Make sure you check out the Cronut place across the road from it too!

Both the service and food has improved considerably since I last visited Piccola Cucina Osteria in June 2019. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful, and the food fresh and delicious. Our dinner was an all around excellent experience and it’s easy to see why reviewers have made this one of the top restaurants in the city (certainly the best Italian I’ve had in New York). PS: save room for dessert, the chocolate torte with orange is superb.

had dinner with 4 here, and excellent experience, fully living up to its high reputation. Owner Alvio and staff were very welcoming, despite very busy and small place through our reservation. Inside just 8 tables, so reserve early. we shared great grilled calamare leg and burrata salad as appetizers, very good and tasty. as main courses the wild boar and truffle pasta was outstanding as well as the pasta in black squid ink and calamare, both under $ 25.00 , excellent value and very flavorful. The wine list is great with good value wines as well as higher end selection. as dessert we choose freshly table side made tiramisu, a must try for everyone. ambiance, food quality, service and pricing all spot on, indeed they deserve to have this top spot in NYC, cant get any better in my view.

Groups of 7 must be challenge for restaurants of any stripe. When the dining room probably seats no more than 25 inside, it makes it all the more so. There is outside seating but the weather, despite the heaters, made that less than appealing. Fortunately, the service from Victor, and the food were first class and despite the smallness of the dining area, we were not rushed off our table(s) which I always greatly appreciate. When I see arancini on the menu, I can never resist it and this restaurant delivered a very fine example indeed. We actually ordered 3 (each has 2 balls) and they added one so that we all had a taste. Really an excellent example of this dish that is very challenging to make at home. I am also something of a sucker for gnocchi but it can be bland so I sometimes order it with some trepidation. I needn't have had any concern here because the sauce and the texture of the gnocchi themselves were delicious. The sauce was a ragu with delightfully tender meat within. I was very pleased with what I ordered. For such a small place, one would expect it to be loud and it is certainly bustling, but not too noisy for across table conversations. The tiny kitchen is at the end of the room, fully visible and it is fun to see them work although I don't know how they produce such dishes in a space this cramped. It is a wonderful Italian restaurant, with attentive, friendly and light hearted service (ask your server for recommendations) and I will definitely return when I am in Soho again and thinking about Italian food. Can't comment directly on the value since I wasn't the one grabbing the bill this particular time, but from the menu it seemed that it was definitely worth it.

I just had to come back to this NYC gem with my parents after being blown away by it for the first time in March 2019. After our dinner, we unanimously agreed that this was the best Italian food we'd ever had in our lives by far. The pastas are incredible and the portions are generous. We had the most sublime tiramisu and cannoli that rendered the table speechless for a good few minutes. What stood out even more, however, was the service. From the moment we entered, we felt like we were being welcomed into someone's home. The folks at Piccola Cucina are extremely attentive and warm. Special shoutout to the dessert chef Karol (pictured) for being amazing and for making this a truly unforgettable dinner. These Singaporeans are eagerly planning a future return to NYC because we just can't wait to be back.

What an amazing restaurant. It has that rare combination of authentic Italian food in an unpretentious atmosphere, with delicious food and genuinely friendly staff. The restaurant itself is warm and welcoming; we were seated right away at a comfortable table. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is great. Even though the restaurant was packed, we still felt like we had a quiet, intimate meal with minimal noise levels. We shared the grilled sea bass, the maccheroni, and the zucchini flowers, and everything was superb. Absolutely lovely!

A very small authentic cute Italian restaurant. We went there for Christmas dinner . I had the Ravioli which was the best pasta I have ever had beside what I had in Florence. The Tiramisu was actually manually made infront of me on the spot using the biscuits getting dipped in coffee and then adding the whipped cream and coffee on top in a cup .. it was a great idea and it tasted delicious… Ilaria our waiter was amazing, friendly and lovely. A very busy unique famous restaurant!! Highly recommend it ..

I have been going to this place at least 6 or more times and they never disappoint me. The food is amazing and the price is so reasonable. The lunch special is. $11 for pasta!!! Unbelievable for NYC price. The portion of the food is also pretty generous, especially for the dinner serving. The service is also great. Highly recommanded by 12+ new yorker.

SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
