I still really like Balthazar, but I think the prices can be high for what you're getting. Over the past couple of years I feel like the quality hasn't always been top notch, and the service not always as friendly as it could have been....I won't go into much detail on the waitstaff, French waiter jokes and all. But the food is really what I care most about. There have been a few misses, but on my most recent visit the puff pastry with creamy scrambled eggs, mushrooms, and fork-tender asparagus had stale pastry. In some places rock hard, completely inedible. There's no excuse for that in a $22 brunch entree. Everything else was spot on, and that's usually how things go sideways here, everything is almost perfect except for one big component that you can't help but be disappointed in. My bacon was crazy good, their green juice was impossibly smooth and refreshing (if not criminally small for the price). I'm not swearing them off, but I can't still come here and guarantee the people I'm bringing a perfect meal.More

If you are in New York City and you love French food you have to visit Balthazar restaurant, I had as started oysters that were delicious as main dish salmon ( perfect medium term ) with asparagus was good , for dessert was an amazing...profiterole yumyyy ... The atmosphere was perfect , Our waiter was attentive, he recommended a good option for a light French wine to combine our food 🍷. I definitely come back !More

If you are downtown in NYC this place should not be missed. Great service and standard french food fare. If crowded seating can be a bit tight. Next time need to try bakery next door.

I had been planning to eat here the last couple of times I was in NYC but had never gotten there until a couple of weeks ago. I'd missed so much! I loved Blathatzar which had been recommended to me by a number of NY...friends. It ain't cheap for breakfast, but it was absolutely excellent! I had their wonderful corned beef--an order of plain toasted brioche and coffee. Total cost with tax and tip $42. It lasted til dinner except for a small snack. The place is so New York--just loved it.More
