Everything about this place was spectacular. I decided to order items I don't normally order out and that proved to be the right decision. My wife ordered the Baked Oysters Florentine which she loved and then Bay Scallops and clams over pasta. I had an...unbelievably tasty Duck with Risotto and Grilled Venison for dinner (it was the first time I have ever ordered it in any restaurant and I'm glad I did. Thank you for such an enjoyable evening.More

Two couples went to Mama Maria for dinner on a Monday night located in the historic north end. Valet parking is available and a necessity as the streets are narrow and on street parking is rare. Valet parking costs $30.00 but is worth it. We...were seated upstairs at a cozy table. Our server, Guilherme, started us with a nice bottle of Prosecco. For appetizers, we chose; mozzarella and tomato salad and a roasted beet salad. Both were large enough to share. We were given warm bread with a pesto sauce and some ripe olives to munch on. For entrees, we chose; ravioli de zucca, lobster agnolotti ravioli, seafood paccheri pasta and Ossobuco. All of the entrees were excellent and very plentiful. We had a nice Chianti Classical wine to enhance the meal. The service was excellent and no one had room for desert. This is a great restaurant.More

First time in Boston and searched for a great Italian meal and found Mamma Maria. Fortunately, we were able to get in without a reservation (Monday evening). The bread, olives, and pesto dipping oil was a great start to the meal. The Autumn Salad was...wonderful and the Pasta Con Sugo was fantastic. Thick delicious pasta noodles with a wonderful sauce. We shared all of that so we could order two desserts! One was the Apple Tart and the other Plum Cobbler. Both were astounding. The tart was melt in my mouth good. The cobbler was surprisingly complex, with the tartness of the plums being a nice contrast with the overall sweetness of a cobbler and ice cream. Note in the pics that they split our salad and pasta for us, so the pics show a half portion of the each.More

The North End has great restaurants like Panza and Limoncello! But this place is the location for the pretenders--the suburban wanna-bees who have their Range Rovers valet parked. This is terribly overpriced and the portions are very small. The owner nor the workers live in...the city/north end so it's even more pathetic that they don't understand the character of this great part of the city. The prices are ridiculous and there's a reason why everyone you see here is either leasing their car or using their maxxed out AmX cards. Seriously, tried it twice. First time, had a waiter with a BIG attitude. Food was okay but not worth the price. Ambience incredibly beautiful Second time: Radish salad was wilty. Halibut very dry and bland in taste. Just a mess when you consider that the two us spent well over 100 for a night's out.More

Mamma Maria came highly recommended and for good reason; in the heart of Little Italy their patio dining offers all the intimate romance of a night in an Italian Village. Beautiful old buildings line the square, accentuating the spark of love in the air. We...started with beef carpaccio which was bright, fresh and a perfectly simple dish to start the night as well as being a lovely foil for our classic martinis. Second course was rabbit pappardelle - absolutely excellent. We finished the meal with panna cotta and coffee, then floated back to the hotel on a cloud of happy romance. Make reservations early - it's a tiny spot but well worth the effort to do while you're in Boston.More

This place was highly recommended to us when we took a food tour in Boston and it did not disappoint. The place itself is in a wonderful old building. The menu was very interesting with mostly northern Italian influences. The service was wonderful. The Osso...bucco dish was wonderful. The bolognese pasta dish was very good as well.More

We had a big family group on a Sunday night, 12 of us, and made a reservation weeks in advance. We were given a private area at a big table that felt celebratory and quiet. The food was amazing, and worth every penny. Service was...excellent. A+ overall.More

Thank you for making our evening special. We inquired if there were any bar seats available (a giveaway that it was our first time here) not realizing their bar was tiny, but luckily there was a no-show and we were fortunate to be seated at...a wonderful table in the lower level dining room. The tables are close and it was a little noisy at times, but our server Ovi and team took good care of us. Everything we ordered was very fresh and flavorful. The restroom was sparkling clean. We will definitely be making a reservation for our next trip into the North End.More

We had the meal of our life here with our group-attentive and pleasant staff, an opportunity to see the dishes as they were brought to other tables, and a personal touch from start to finish. My husband and I got the burrata and autumn salad....I ordered the swordfish (cooked to perfection with squid pasta) and he got an amazing Bolognese. Desserts were light and just enough-mine was ricotta with fruit. We will return!More

From the exterior quaintness, to the spotless tiny interior. Chose Manhattan cocktail with spiced ice cube. Divine. Oysters, carpaccio (loved with arugula & lemon) butternut squash ravioli and Lobster agnolotti. Squash ravioli was disappointing. Dough a bit heavy. So was the squash. Delightful waiter Olvi....Special placeMore

We visited this place for the first time knowing it was good ... also hearing every friend from Boston talking about it. It turned out to be even better than expected with a great evening of food and wine. Superb.

Ambience: Having read a lot of positive reviews we booked this for our 1st night in Boston. We had a table on the first floor in a nicely full and atmospheric dining room with a good buzz. The waitress was pleasant and efficient, perhaps a...little too efficient because it felt a little bit rushed. The dining room was lovely and took us back to a time past. Food: Our food was excellent, we thought it was a little on the pricey side, $30 for pasta Ragu, albeit a very good Ragu, was quite expensive for us. We all had starters and main courses and all were delicious. The veal chop was a particular favourite. Facilities: The dining room was dimly lit to the extent that those of us with more life experience behind us needed phone torches to read the menu. If you have read any of my previous reviews you will know this is a bug bear of mine. The toilets were clean and tidy with nice soaps and towels. Summary: We had a lovely evening with good food in a great atmosphere. But for the price we would give this restaurant 5 stars. We would recommend booking into what is one of Boston's oldest eateries.More
