Finding a spot on a Saturday night in Boston is hard, this one had availability, but a wide variety of TA reviews. We had an excellent meal, sampling much of the menu among our group of four. The clam chowder and salads were great appetizers,...I had the duck cannelloni which was excellent. Our server was a little green, everything we asked about was “terrific.” My wife’s Osso buco could have been warmer and the dessert selection was very narrow. We would definitely go back.More

Eating at Sonsie is always a priority on our trips to Boston to visit our college student. The cocktails are fun, the food satisfying and the great service keeps us coming back! Consistent food and service, warm and fun energy inside and the seating near...the open doors is wonderful on a spring day!More

The place is cute, i would definitely get a table with the street view if the weather is nice. The food was good, but expensive.

I’ll start by saying that the food we ordered was pretty good - not amazing, but not bad. The place is loud with a younger vibe, which we were fine with. The hostess put us at a table further back which was quieter. The menu...is all over the board, as are some dishes which don’t seem to have any clear direction. The staff seem quite young and inexperienced. We ordered a cocktail and she brought it back and then wanted our entree order. We instead ordered an appetizer. When we finally gave her our order, they brought appetizers, salad and entree all at once. Our experience wasn’t s disaster, but it felt more like a slicker Applebys.More

Had a reservation for the evening of Junes 26th. Waited for 10 minutes at the hostess table with no one showing up to seat us. Was able to go down the street tonEva and find and excellent meal and service. Everyone should pass this one...up as there is too many great food spots on Newbury to settle for poor service. Thanks for being uselessMore

We went to Sonsie for dinner in October 2019 while staying in the Boston Back Bay Area. We sat in the cafe area of the restaurant which was really nice, although could have been slightly better lit. The food that we ordered was really good...(pizza and Chicken) but the waitress was not very attentive, quite snappy and abrupt. Probably wouldn’t recommend as there are so many other nice places in the area!More

This was genuinely one of the worst dining experiences of my life, and that's including realizing a few miles down the road that the drive thru didn't give you any ketchup, and a minute after that it was the totally wrong order. We came in...later in the evening for dinner. We didn't have dinner. 20 minutes after being seated a server finally acknowledged us, and strongly implied whomevers section we were in had dropped the ball. No big deal, it was getting towards closing, it happens. We were asked for drink orders, and the server ran off, still 15 minutes before the regular kitchen closed. We we're never asked if we wanted anything else, despite the the restaurant serving pizza for another half an hour. Nearly 20 minutes later we got our drinks, and were able to at least order a desert. Drinks were poorly made and didn't line up with menu descriptions or ingredients. The desert was average, but we weren't given a spoon for another ten minutes, and then seeing we had started with dorks the waitress left with the spoons. Till then we hadn't been asked how we liked anything. When we finally were the desert was cleared while we were still eating it. We then had to wait another 20 minutes with wallets and cards on the table before someone came back to let us pay. I can understand some of these issues if a restaurant was busy, but it wasn't, the bar was crowded but otherwise the place was nearly empty, there was more staff than patrons. And with that many things were just inexcusable. Why when you notice a table has been sitting for nearly half an hour without even water would you not flag it to the manager as an issue? Why would the manager who was wandering around aimlessly this whole time not notice this herself? This wasn't an issue of being too busy, or too short-staffed, it was an issue of simply not caring, because very basic effort could have prevented it all. The hostess could have communicated to the server that she sat a table. The server who eventually came could have done the basics like asking if we wanted any food. The bartender could have asked for help if they were too busy. The food runner could have noticed we didn't have the right silverware and made sure it was dealt with. Through all this the manager could have done the basics of observation and corrected a problem before it got worse.More

Loved the energy and the decor in this place. A bit loud but you could still have conversation. Very cool cocktail menu with a number of original cocktails. If you love Negronis you’re especially in for a treat; they have four varieties. Tried the scallop...app. Omg — delicious, complex sauce and seasoning plus seared perfectly. It was my fave of the night. Steak au poivre was also very good although the frites were a little disappointing — pretty much just shoestring french fries and a little underdone. Friendly, helpful servers. I’d def go back.More

The food was not out-of-this-world but I enjoyed my meal and, for a stylish restaurant at the heart of Back Bay, the prices are very reasonable. I also found the staff to be kind and courteous. My friend accidentally left a to-go box at the...table when we were talking out and one of the waitresses let him know. I would definitely visit Sonsie again.More

Had a wonderful Sunday brunch at Sonsie! Arrived at noon and was seated right away. Cappuccinos were delicious and beautiful and the breakfast sandwich was one of the best in the area. Our server Rafael was so kind and efficient!

Mixed. Great great burger and the potatoes were out of this world. Rest of group had breakfast items. They said theirs were good. Not great. Loved the drinks. However service was really slow, something must have happened because several tables that came in after us...were served before but our server never acknowledged it. Additionally one of the orders was wrong and we were missing a side (Womens bathroom was dark! & dirty)More

Just disappointing. The kale Caesar salad did not have one piece of kale in it. It was all romaine. And IDK what that piece of fish was on the side... it tasted nothing like an anchovy. The pizza we got - and there were few...choices because we were governed by the lighter fare menu - the crust was more like dough... virtually raw in the center....the pizza essentially collapsed when you attempted to pick it up and eat it. We had the merguaz (sp?)... the lamb sausage tasted like pork and the cream sauce had a slightly off taste. My partner reported that the bathroom - while it looked clean - smelled like the worst outhouse that they had ever been in. Our wait person spilled just 'bout everything. - and then blamed it on somebody else. The bartender filled the glass too much. The kitchen staff filled the dipping sauce too much. A pizza. 2 salads. An order of dumplings (probably frozen). And one drink. $100. And just 'bout nothing presented as described on the menu. Very disappointing.More

We ate here recently on our trip to Boston. It was a Saturday and there was a huge queue everywhere. Luckily we got a spot here. The restaurant is pretty and open. They sat us with tables facing the road. It felt like a café...in Paris. We ordered the avocado toast and a side of potatoes, and lattes. They forgot our side of potatoes. They were apologetic about the potatoes and said they could bring them to us but Since we had a plane to catch in a few hours, we refused. I knocked a star off for forgetting. Otherwise the service was good.More
