Do not let the long line to order keep you away . The line goes quite fast. Your order then have a seat. They will bring the food out to you. We shared a lobster roll and some slaw. Some of the lobster was over...cooked. Some of it was cooked perfectly - weird. It was served with butter, We did not need it. The pieces of lobster were big. The slaw was average. The atmosphere is quite funMore

This makes a great stop when sightseeing. It’s relatively fast ( depending on the line). You order inside & they bring your hot food out to you. It’s not cheap but excellent lobster rolls aren’t cheap. We stopped here off the cruise ship from the...hop on bus. You can get lobster rolls two ways- with mayo as cold salad or with butter. We got them with butter but next time we think we will go with mayo. Mostly tail meat not claw. Also clam chowder was very good. Large lobster roll was $39. Chowder was $9. On suggestion of tour bus driver we split lobster roll & each had a chowder. Also had a crab cake but this Baltimore girl says to skip that.More

Lives up to it’s reviews. Excellent lunch spot, casual, outdoor dining, perfectly prepared lobster and clam chowder. So happy we went there!

Got the large lobster roll with butter for right at $39.00 and it was so tough we couldn’t even eat it. Lobster must have been big senior lobster. Potato salad was good.

Read on Tripadvisor that this was the best place to get a lobster roll. It certainly did not disappoint. It is a small counter service place with a few tables inside and many tables available outside. We went a little after 4:00pm and it was...just starting to rain so there were no crowds. Lobster was delicious and lots of it. We would recommend this place.More

Definitely our best seafood experience whilst visiting Boston. Do something, and do it well. Yes it’s always busy, and yes you may have to wait to find a seat. However, there’s a reason for this. We had the clam chowder, Lobster roll With mayo, and...2lb steamed Lobster (pictures included). It was all awesome, and also the best value we found in Boston. Obviously you’re going here simply for the food (not for a romantic meal with a great bottle of wine!) although there were a number of beers on offer which we tried. They also do take out lobsters, and if we didn’t have so far to travel, I definitely would have bought one (I loved the 6LB+ tank !) Go there for lunch, have the lobster roll, you won’t be disappointed !!More

I've had various lobster rolls around NE and I honestly don't get the hype behind the chilled ones saturated with mayo. A friend recommended I try the large warm with butter and I took their word for it and was blown away at the quality...and taste. It was absolutely heaping with warm chunks of delectable lobster and doused it with drawn butter and put a little salt and pepper and it was absolute perfection. At $36, it definitely wasn't cheap, but it plenty to share with another person and we're even considering going back and having another. DO IT.More

My husband and I went on a weekday afternoon, and had a lobster roll and lobster bisque. The roll was fantastic! Big, thick chunk of fresh lobster. The bisque was thin though, and a little flat tasting. Would go back though!

Lobster roll was really good. Huge chunks of lobster, and the price reflects the quality & quantity of lobster. Clam chowder lacked flavor.

The BEST 1st bite in Boston…the Lobster roll with butter (on side) was so delish! Super fresh, sweet lobster goodness piled high, OMG! I recommend no mayo, simply because it’s about letting the lobster shine. As to a reviewer who said ‘it wasn’t seasoned’, umm...traditional lobster rolls are not ‘seasoned’ in first place lol. Why ruin a great thing.More

A bit of a pi55 take ! We arrived and ordered at the counter and then presented with an iPad asking for 18, 22 or 25 % tip. There was zero service, we even had to clear our own tables so what have we got...to rip for ??? Have to say the lobster rolls were lovely but experience spoiled by this begging for nothing. Serve me at a table, go the extra mile and clear up after me and I'll tip willingly but not for no service.More

On a recent business trip to Boston, we had heard that James Hook was the best place to get a Lobster Roll. So on one of the free days that we had during our visit, we decided to walk from our hotel to James Hook....We found the restaurant is really not a restaurant in the traditional sense. What we found is more like a trailer where you go in and can order food for take-out or have it shipped anywhere in the USA. Also on the property was a food truck. The food truck is located right outside the trailer and you just step up there and order your food (NO CASH accepted). After ordering you go and sit down under some bar-style table which is located right in the open or some other tables that are located under a large tent (warning no AC or fans). When we were there the temp was over 90 degrees. We both had the famous Lobster Roll and received a very generous portion of Lobster and Mayo. It was great tasting and fresh. I just wish we could enjoy it more, but we quickly ate it in fear that due to the hot weather our food would quickly spoil.More
