My wife and I love Seasons 52 at Tysons Corner Center in McLean. Hence, I made a reservation for lunch today on her birthday. In making the reservation, I was careful to note that this was a SPECIAL OCCASION, my wife's birthday. This isn't our...first rodeo, so we expected the staff to greet her and offer a glass of sparking wine and/or a free dessert. That's what happened at their sister restaurant, the Capital Grille, on my birthday in August. But not today. Nothing, no acknowledgment. Rating the restaurant on my four criteria -- food quality, value, ambience, and service, for the first time ever, we were disappointed. The waitress was okay, but just barely. My wife's scallops (expensive) were good, not great. The restaurant was crowded and a noisy group occupied the booth next to ours. Value was questionable. One of the bright spots came when I asked for a taste of a cabernet. A guy, one of the managers I think, brought a glass. I told him I had asked for only a taste. He brought back a taste of Penfold's, but also a taste of a Caymus produced wine. I ended up ordering a glass of the Caymus product; not sure I'm happy with what I was charged, but the experience and the wine he suggested were good. Two bottom lines: 1) we went away with negative feelings; and 2) we probably will think twice, maybe three times, before returning to Seasons 52, especially for a special occasion. We are disappointed.More
