I was wowed by many sights in Maui, but as far as restaurants go, this was the only one we visited that I would consider meriting that level of praise. Reservations were made several weeks in advance by a friend for the nine of us,...so I’m not sure how easy it would be to simply walk in and receive immediate seating. Judging by the look of things when we arrived at 5:30pm, reservations are a good idea. To spite its unassuming entrance and parking lot, the restaurant grounds are essentially magical. Most business properties in Maui seem to use every square inch to generate income while Mama’s Fish House leaves at least a quarter of the grounds open with strategically planted palms and tiki lights leading right up to a sandy (not rocky) beach. There is an occasional pond or bench on which to sit and gaze out at the beauty of the ocean. As prices go, no Hawaiian eatery is inexpensive, and Mama’s is no exception. Our waiter, Mark, was equally impressive remembering all nine of our orders perfectly without writing them down. He kept a nice pace as the evening progressed and surprised a lady in our group with a birthday cake, which we all shared. The bathrooms were like tiny art galleries combined with florist shops. I admit I touched a petal to see if they were real. I suppose I should mention the food was delicious. My husband had the lobster-stuffed mahi-mahi and me, the shrimp tempura. Others in our group had no complaints. We left full and happy!More

This is our favorite restaurant on the island. We prefer to go for lunch so we can enjoy the beautiful view. Everything about this place is awesome, the food, service and beverages.

I have been to Mama's three times now over the course of 11 years, and it has been spectacular each and every visit. This visit I had my whole family, including a son who has many food allergies and is usually unable to even eat...at a restaurant. Our server, Alexa, was prepared in advance for our arrival and knew exactly what my son could and could not eat. We had a truly incredible dinner and raved about it, Alexa and the unbeatable ambiance we enjoyed at Mama's for the rest of our trip. We had the Fish Tahitian in coconut and lime juice, the grilled papaya with local venison, vegetables and lime, and Mama's special dish, the mahi mahi stuffed with lobster and crab and baked in a macadamia nut crust - WOW! A winner every single time. We also had the infamous black pearl dessert with passion fruit center and a special - a light, fluffy coconut cake that was the best any of us had ever eaten. Well done, Mama's, and thank you for another evening of wonderful memories!More

Loved the food here. You have to try the macadamia but crusted fish that is stuffed with crab and lobster. Pricey but worth it!

Maui is not short of great places to eat, but Mama's Fish House is in a league of its own. The food is just outstanding from the salad with strawberries, candied pecans, and goat cheese, to the delicious entrees and the coconut cake for dessert....Every dish was an epicurean delight. Great service and lovely ambiance round out the experience. Highly recommend!!More

There are also benches and tables near the smaller bar for just cocktails, no food service. You can get full dinners at the bar if chairs are available.

Yes, they have a kids menu. However, it is not traditional (no mac n cheese, pizza, hot dog, chicken nuggets). It is more seafood and meat and pricy for a child. As an option, I would recommend calling ahead and asking if... More
