First visit, loved the old train depot that it’s located in, so much history. Our server was so friendly and had a wonderful sense of humor. We started out with drinks, you absolutely must try the Pear Mule, OMG was it amazing, it was literally...like eating a fresh pear. The others had beer and bourbon flights which they all loved. We all enjoyed the crab bisque, the sprinkle of old bay on top was perfect. The fried mushroom appetizer was plentiful, the horseradish sauce packed quite the punch but enjoyed by all. As it was day before St Paddy’s, several had the special Corner Beef Sizzler, served on a sizzling platter, potatoes, cabbage, 3 thick slices of beef, they loved it. The prime rib was cooked perfect. The Chessie Vegetable pasta was quite delicious. The only near miss was the Blackberry Cobbler, it was a unique version, but was just okay, all enjoyed the vanilla ice cream though. Prices were reasonable overall. The parking lots are limited, there is also limited street parking, and parking garage is a block away free Saturday/Sun, reasonable M-F.More

The location is nice. It's right down from the Staunton train station. I picked it for my husband's birthday dinner. He loves oysters and they had them. We were seated at what looked like an outdoor seating area for the summer, but it had windows...and a propane fireplace. It was cute. Before we ordered, we were told by our waitress that they were out of some items, luckily it wasn't anything that we thought about ordering. We placed our order and got our drinks. Salads came without salad dressing, but no biggie. We were able to have an attendant at the front desk get dressing. We had to get the same attendant to refresh our drinks as well. I'm not saying it wasn't busy, but it didn't look busy. Who knows, our waitness may have been on the other side of the establishment with many tables. Dinners came and my husband loved his oysters. I got the chicken parmesan pasta. It was edible, but not spectacular. The biggest issue was that the pricing on the menu did not match what I was charged. My tip* check the menu pricing and if it matters, ask if it is accurate. We enjoyed each other's company and that is truly all that mattered.More

Great place for lunch. Beautiful bar area in old train depot. The seasonal cocktail was especially good. The crap dip was good, but not exceptional. Pretty much a bar food menu, at least at lunch. A plus for us that the restaurant was open all...day. Would go back.More

Unique restaurant situated near old train box cars. Our server was fantastic and very friendly! I had the French onion soup and Cobb salad with grilled chicken. Both were good. The sangria lacked flavor and depth. I would dine there again though.

Pros: Very nice restaurant, clean and nice atmosphere. Food was tasty and good. Cons: Server was not real friendly and decided to stand right behind us and talk excessively to the people at the other table about her kids, (I think since they were talking...so loudly, that the children were on some school team together??) With that being said, it was awkward and difficult to get her to give us some good service, to the point I had to turn and say excuse me can we get our check? Really? Do people do not realize what they are doing to their tip, and the restaurant review. Ugh, needless to say, do not recommend, a manager should have picked up on this?? Would never go back. Sorry to say, and we are usually very big tippers!More

We are staying in the area for a mini vacation, and for my husband’s birthday. Found this place using Trip Advisor and it did not disappoint. The food was so good and came out very timely; soup then salad then main entrees. Our waiter, and...other staff, were incredibly nice; the atmosphere/decor of the restaurant was very cool to see.More

Used Trip Advisor to find this great place for dinner. So glad I did my homework!! Early dinner, 4:30 and was seated quickly. Waitress came took my drink order. By her recommendation I ordered the 1/2 rack baby back ribs w/dry rub & sauce. They...were fall off the bone delicious! Tender, moist not heavily sauced. So good. Baked potato was hot. For dessert the apple pie ala mode was perfect ending. Food was great, service was great. Highly recommend and would return if in the area.More

In what used to be a freight train depot from around 1860, there is now an interesting restaurant with old church pews where you can get some very good food! I knew I wanted to try their "famous" chicken tenders. I should have listened to...our friendly waiter when he suggested the chicken tenders from the "Sandwiches and Lite Bites" section rather than the "Steaks, Ribs and Chicken" section, because the former is three tenders and the latter is five tenders, and three would have been enough! These chicken tenders are big and juicy and have a wonderful crunchy exterior. I had mine with a baked potato (which was not as fluffy as I hoped) and applesauce. My husband opted for their sesame-crusted tuna special (with side mushrooms and a salad) and said it was very tasty, even if a tad overcooked. We make it to Staunton every few years and we now have a new favorite restaurant! I look forward to eating here again.More

We know Staunton fairly well, but somehow have overlooked the Depot Grille. So glad we decided upon it during this stay in Staunton! Our grandson (9) ordered chicken tenders, broccoli and pink lemonade. I NEVER eat chicken tenders as I think they are usually next...to inedible, no matter where you get them. THESE chicken tenders were tender, juicy and with just the right amount of light, deliciously looking and tasting breading...sooo good! Broccoli was just right too! I ordered the bourbon salmon BLT...it too was very, very good. Hubs ordered salad with chicken tenders and he liked it very much. For dessert we split a slice of homemade strawberry lemonade pie with graham cracker crust. It too, lived up to our server's recommendation. It was a perfect ending to a great meal. Our server, Sarah, was excellent; obviously skilled with wonderful timing and an engaging manner. All of the staff, starting with the greeter/seater were so professional and so friendly, as we observed. I highly recommend the Depot Grille, and we will definitely return. It's a winner for sure!More

I love old building repurposed. This railroad depot makes a great restaurant with good food and great service. We ere visiting Staunton and we always try to eat at local places. This one did not disappoint. We liked it so well after out Thursday meal...we returned on Saturday evening. If you go on Saturday, I would recommend you arrive around 5 pm or be prepared to wait. Our wait was only 20 minutes but part of that may have been the Prom parties that chose to dine there. No being local e were not aware the local high school was holding there prom that Saturday evening and the Depot is a preferred site for photos and dining. We had four different dishes and they were excellent including the gigantic piece of Peanut Butter Pie and the Crab Dip appetizer.More

I went there on Easter with adult family members. at lunch. Three of us had steak and another fried oysters. I had a salad and baked potato. For dessert I had New York style cheesecake, which was excellent. Another in our group had peanut butter...pie. We all liked our food; The restaurant is in an old train station building. Parking is tight near the restaurant. Because we knew that as local residents all four of us went in one car. I don't think there is a way to get into the restaurant without stairs. I am in my 70s so I can't climb stairs well, but I managed.More

Haven't had this problem. If I knew I received something other than what I ordered I would, as soon as it happened, bring it to their attention of the servers, if they are inattentive ask for the manager. If nothing was done... More
