I have to say over the years I have been a frequent visitor to this restaurant and it has changed hands over the course of time. I had not been there in a long time so I stopped there recently for lunch. The experience was...not my best ever. The waitress who has been there a long time was nonchalant about greeting me even though I was an hour out from closing it kind of felt like she had no time for me and this continued throughout the meal, though she did not seem to treat others who came in after me the same way. She seemed put out I wanted a particular table - not that there is much seating to choose from but I’d just had eye surgery and needed a place not in direct light. She didn’t care - my need was an inconvenience to her. They used to have seating upstairs but I suspect her lack of fitness contributed to the closing of upstairs seating though if you need to use the bathroom the guests have to go upstairs. I am sure like the waitress some of guests could also use handicapped or ground level facilities. The service was terrible. Others around me got served first no problem. Food was barely warm when I got it. If I asked for anything I felt resistance to my request. I’ve eaten there hundreds of times with that same server as she seems to be the only one and whatever was going on that day or why she behaved towards me as she did I don’t know. I always over tipped until that day. I didn’t want to leave a tip but felt forced to the way the system is now set up when you pay and of course she was also the one taking the money. The people next to me were very loud and inconsiderate. No one said a word to them even with horrendous sounds one guest was making that sounded a bit like a goat when she laughed. (Not kidding.). I’d hoped to visit the place I always knew and find comfort but it was not that - I felt unwelcome from the minute I stepped on toe inside the door so I finished as quickly as I could, left the smallest possible computerized tip and said goodbye to a place I’ve long held in great esteem The food was mediocre. The service the worst I’ve ever gotten. During Covid I got take out from this place a lot, nearly every day or every other day. I probably single-handedly kept their doors open. Needless to say, I won’t be back or recommend. Others probably don’t know the difference between what was and what is -but I do. I went there expecting what I did not get - good, friendly service and better than average food but oh well… I just want go back. Go to The Byers Street Bistro or Taste of India - either have better food and better service. Some change is not for the better.More

I must say that my recent experience at Pampered Palette in Staunton, VA left me extremely disappointed with their customer service and overall business fail to handle orders for a group of 8 people who were genuinely eager to support them. This was our 2nd...try to support them and we will not try again. Upon approaching Pampered Palette with a group of coworkers- 8 of us who work downtown - we were excited to try their Potatoe Platters and show our support for a local establishment. however, our excitement quickly turned into frustration when we encountered a lack of accommodations for our group size for an order to go, when it was called in at 10:30 am in the morning and we told them that we were in no hurry! Again, this was not the first time we faced such an issue, it happened on a previous occasion as well. The owner's explanations for not being able to fulfill our order beyond 5 Potato Platters was nothing short of baffling. we were informed that doing so would deplete their entire potato stock for the day. Seriously? As a business owner, one should have the foresight to anticipate demand and ensure an adequate supply of ingredients to meet customer expectations. It appears that either the owner lacks basic business knowledge and planning skills or doesn't prioritize customer satisfaction. When a group of 8 people is willing to place a sizeable order and support a local business, the least you can expect is a positive response and a willingness to accommodate the request. instead, we were met with excuses and a refusal to serve us fully.More

We usually plan our trips to Staunton (from Lexington) for Saturdays to catch the Farmers Market and a pedestrian friendly Beverly Street - where we search for a lunch place. We always look in PPC - but it's always crowded. Well - we went to...an art exhibit to pick up a piece on a Thursday. And - we walked in at 11:40 - and found a table with no problem - as you seat yourself. The thick menus were on the table - that featured a little history of PPC and with a load of offerings - typical of a Greek or Jersey Diner. Our server quickly came for drink orders - and we said we needed some time to decide on our food. If you're a regular - you probably can order without looking at the menu. But - if you're a Newbie like us - it takes a while to go through the extensive list of the tasty offerings. OK - my wife goes the Baldwin salad - and I went with a bowl of the Gazpacho that was a soup special and the house Hummus. But - there were a ton of sandwiches and wraps and appys that we passed on. And the kitchen didn't look like there was any room to prepare this much food. In any case - our food came shortly - and then our hunger was slated. My wife's salad was huge - with bread and butter on the plate - a thinly sliced apple - and a pile of fresh greens, etc - with a nice cup of balsamic dressing on the side. My Gazpacho was well blended - subtly seasoned - and not so heavy on cucumber. EXACTLY like I love it. The Hummus cup was surrounded by two warmed Pitas - wedge cut. It was creamy - with a Zatar(?) kick. And - would be a great starter to share. We saw some sandwiches and wraps at the tables around us. You won't go hungry here - and you'll find the prices very reasonable for the quantity AND quality of the food. P.S. The service is great too!More

First off, we didn't eat here. Simply put, we couldn't, though we tried several times. Regardless of when we would stop by their business on each of the four days we were recently in town, the store wouldn't be open even though the website said...they were. We kept trying because their posted menu sounded perfect for us, and on our next visit we'll try to get in again, but thy weren't open at all that we could tell. Sad, because we really wanted to try them.More

The sandwiches they create here are so original and so good. The restrooms are not handicap friendly they are up 17 steep steps. Our server was Chastity and she was very friendly and helpful. The menu has a wide variety of hot or cold sandwiches,...wraps, salads, etc. I have to tell you I highly recommend The Dixey for $10.95. Shaved roasted chicken breast with melted brie cheese and a cranberry jalapeno sauce served on a warmed croissant and served with a deli pickle and potato chips. My husband had the Black Friar for $9.95. Shaved pastrami with provolone, grain mustard, onions and pickle on warm homemade marble rye bread served with a side of macaroni salad and potato chips. Free refills on the sodas They have indoor table seating as well as a couple spaces outdoors. It is small but very very good.More

Located downtown, so parking is tricky but we found a place on the street. Quaint small town. Limited seating but short wait. Very good selection of unique and tasty creations. They were out of the chili, which I hoped to try. Quesadilla appetizer was ok...but could have used more cheese. Wife got a reuben that had perfect balance of quality meat and kraut. Bread was fresh and even chips on side were good. I liked the fresh fruit that was offered instead of chips. I got a pastrami sandwich called the Betsey that had perfect meat/bread ratio. I drank a local blueberry sour beer and our pumpkin cheesecake dessert was absolutely delicious. Service was great and friendly. A touch on the high price end but worth it considering quality of ingredients. Worthwhile lunch if strolling in Staunton.More

A hidden gem. The food was very fresh and unlike other places, the salad greens were washed and as fresh as if you just picked them. Their fruit was also fresh.

We always stop at this small restaurant when visiting Staunton. On Beverly we were greeted with a smile and great service. We sat downstairs near the window and had GREAT iced tea and a diet coke. My husband had the fresh large chef salad and...I had the hot roast beef sub with lettuce, tomato, onions and chips. All food was fresh and good. Will go again.More

We visited the Pampered Palate Cafe for lunch and were glad we did. The Covid epidemic has reduced the number of customers that would normally be here for lunch so we were seated immediately and our server told us about their specials and other general...information about the menu. We ordered a bowl of Gauspatcho soup and the house special Chicken Salad Sandwich, and a Statier Sandwich. All there orders were excellent and ample. We were very happy with our visit and we will definitely make it a requirement to visit the Cafe again when we are in Town. Give it a try you will not be disappointedMore
