There were six of us, and we were hungry. We ordered a variety of small plates and shared. The food seemed to arrive somewhat quickly, and we actually didn't have space enough to put it all on the table. Just about everything was good, although...some dishes seemed more welcomed than others. All things considered, though, it was an enjoyable meal. We'll be back.More

Barcelona Wine Bar Reston VA is not your typical chain restaurant. It is more like a neighborhood go to place. BWB Reston is nestled in an area which is very inviting. There is hustle and bustle; however, it is a very inviting environment, while providing...a sense of peace and relaxation. The ambiance was great, our serverAna H was amazing, and the GM Odiah made the entire experience memorable. They made our experience special by going above and beyond by providing an outstanding customer experience. Just when you think customer service is at an all time low….you step into BWB at Reston and you are treated like royalty. A highly recommend when you are in the area. Thank you to the entire team for an wonderful time!More

Twice in the same weekend and with different groups...not bad for a venue in the DC area. Normally overpriced and stuffy in the Virgina suburbs of DC, this restaurant location of the Barcelona Wine Bar was actually quite normal, enjoyable and with decent offerings at...other than exhorbitant prices. On the Friday and Sunday nights we went for dinner, the place was expectedly packed but our reservations were very timely honored. However, being seated is one thing and being served another. Our wait staff was different on both eveings, but our meals were still tasty. Maybe they don't change chefs like their servers? Not sure we would return a third time, but the overall experience was still very nice.More

My wife and I had a delightful time at Barcelona Wine Bar The food was delicious. We had the assorted charcuterie appetizer, and it was perfectly prepared - all of our favorites from salami and prosciutto to delectable cheeses, olives and eggplant. Our favorite tapa...was the lobster saffron risotto, and the carpaccio was wonderful. The house cava and the olive oil were the best. The service by Becca and Reni and the manager, Lisa, was first class. We will definitely return soon.More

Throughout our meal, the kitchen staff’s music constantly over powered the music being played in the dinning area… When we asked to see the manager to discuss the music, we saw the staff and the manager trying to determine how much they needed to turn...down the kitchen music. A waiter, not the one assigned to us, came over and asked since they had turned down the music if we still needed to see the manager. We confirmed that yes we still wanted to speak with her. After avoiding us while we paid the check, she eventually came over and confirmed that the music had been turned down and departed prior to us saying a word… poor customer service on multiple fronts.More

I have been visiting this place a few times. We had 4 tapas last night: dates wrapped in bacon with Roquefort sauce (the only one that I really liked it), Gambas al Ajillo (garlic shrimp), meatballs and croquetas. Who doesn't like croquetas? As a Spaniard...myself, I am a croquetas connoisseur. I know how to make them, different flavors, different ingredients and always a great staple of my kitchen. Why didn't I like the croquetas last night? Well, they were TOO SPICY. Who makes Spicy croquetas? No one!!. Not in Spain, anyway. When I told one of the managers that they were too spicy for me too eat, she replied: They are not spicy. Well, I can't eat them, or taste the flavor of the presumed manchego and Jamon Serrano they're made. As they were made, it was just a ball of flavorless dough, with a lot of red pepper powder sprinkled on top. She said, "well, we put Spicy paprika on top'". Why? and I know paprika and that was red pepper powder, not smoked paprika. Her response was quite rude, but she removed the money from the bill (4 croquetas, $6.50, BTW). I had the white sangria, and it was sweet. I couldn't taste the presumed white wine, either. Here is the question: am I going back? NO. There are plenty of awesome restaurants near Reston Town Center, and I can cook better croquetas that that in the blink of an eye. Price was fore 3 tapas, a white sangria and a glass of wine $50. Be mindful that a tapa is a small bite, you will need more than 2 tapas per person. I was so mad that we left without ordering more. Very very disappointing.More

First, make sure you have reservations. I got reservations for us at 5:00 PM and when we were running a little late due to making sure our kids' dinner was ready before we left, I almost didn't call to let them know we were running...15 minutes late but I did. I was expecting the person answering to say, "OK, no problem" because who, except for the over 70 crowd eats at 5:00, but the person made a note and I could see why when we got there. It was 90+% full and only got busier as the night when on (we left about 7:00). We were seated right away. I was not really happy with our seats, right by the door to the outdoor dining, tiny table, and right by the server's station but we did not say anything. It was a beautiful day and the breeze was nice. The food was good. We got two cured meats and a goat cheese. My wife and I both independently of each other concluded the the Iberian ham at Jaleo was better but this ham was still pretty good. We got 6 Tapas plates, to include flank steak, bacon wrapped dates, prawns, beef carpaccio, pork belly, whipped sheep's cheese, and one more plate that I do not recall what it was. All of it was very good. Some of the dishes were a little spicy. We did feel that we should have been asked how we wanted the flank steak cooked, but with the speed in which many of the plates came out, it is likely that they have many items pre-cooked (not that you could tell by taste). A few of the dishes were a bit spicier than we would have requested but nothing was over the top spicy. We also had a pitcher of red sangria. It was good but I do not feel it was worth $30. Their definition of a pitch and mine are different. This pitcher is more like a small vase. This is my only real complaint other than the music selection was interesting and a bit too loud for my taste. I would recommend this place for couples, getting together with friends, and a nice but relaxing meal. I ranked this place as mid-ranged priced but I would say it is a little on the higher end of mid-range.More

We really enjoyed the lively atmosphere and attentive staff and outstanding tapas. Didn't know how our kids would react to the Tapas experience but the quality and speed were amazing. We ordered two main entrees and a selection of appetizers. The quality of sangria and...food were all top notch and this place has come a long way. I first went to this place when it opened up 7+ years ago. Was disappointed then with food and drinks so for all these years we would circle around this place and go the places close to it but didn't visit again. Last Saturday we just decided to give another chance and are glad we did. Lively music and surroundings. Our table was being cleared and the kids and family parked ourselves near the bar till we got seated and the bar tender immediately served us with waters. Ana our server was a true professional of course but beyond that she was highly attentive , particularly to our kids. Being a server is a tough job , and even harder at a place that serves tapas since there are lots of small orders. She constantly checked in on us even though it was a busy night and connected with our kids. One of the manager also checked in on us and stopped by to see how our experience was. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes.... enjoy!More

We know Barcelona really well. It was our favourite restaurant when we lived in Westport, CT. Their first restaurant in neighbouring Norwalk was our default date night out place. Even chatted several times with the owners. We just moved back from Europe to the US,...VA area. Tried already Barcelona in DC. Liked it. But unfortunately the experience in Reston was not good. We know a tapas bar needs to be cozy and can/should be crowdy. But the moment we walked in it immediately made us feel if we were in an “apres-ski hut” in Austria. It was incredibly crowded and loud. We were seated at one of these typical small 2 person tables with 1 feet of distance to same tables at either side. The kind of seating and table set up where you need to do gymnastics to get out and are at risk bumping something of the table of your neighbours, or hit them. Proximity of other people, loudness of the music also meant you had to shout to hear each other. The waiter needs to get really close to you to understand each other when ordering. Also meaning that a nice chat and interaction with the staff is impossible. Also considering COVID19, it is not really responsible that the restaurant is so full and all guests so close to each other. Not a big issue, but we had twice a waiter coming with a tapas someone else already had delivered shortly prior. So apparently some confusion amongst waiting staff. It all just felt very off in multiple ways. Only plus? The food was as we are used to from Barcelona, very good.More

My son took me here for a late lunch on my way to Dulles. What a great way to end the trip. The wine flight was not exciting, but palatable. Charcuterie was good, as were our tapas. Did not enjoy the empanadas, bland and heavy...dough. Bread was incredibly good. I mentioned the empanadas to the server, and asked if they sold the bread. Was very pleasantly surprised when server brought the check, no charge for empanadas and a FREE loaf of bread. Would definitely return. Charles ConsolvoMore

I was excited for my first visit to Barcelona Wine Bar but was unfortunately quickly disappointed. We arrived at 6:45pm on a Monday evening. We did not have a reservation but were seated immediately in a nice location. I have to say that my first...impression was that I liked the atmosphere and found the ambiance inviting. Unfortunately, that’s where the good vibes end. The chairs in which we were seated both had large rips in them. Not sure if this was an attempt to look rustic, or just poor maintenance. We were greeted with a server under training, who although very sweet, talked so lightly that she could not be heard underneath her mask. I asked her to speak up twice, which she did not. At exactly 7pm, the dining area lights were dimmed so low that we had to use our cell phones to see the menu. Our first order was a wine flight and charcuterie. We selected the Serrano jamon, Manchego and Drunken Goat cheese. Our board arrived with exactly that: ham and two pieces of cheese. Nothing else. No mustard, no sauce, no accoutrements. Note: an Apperativo Board (almonds, pickles, olives, etc…) is available for an additional $22.00. A manager quickly noticed this an graciously brought us some freshly baked bread with olive oil. The bread was warm and delicious! When our server returned, we asked for Dijon mustard, black pepper (for the olive oil), and our wine flight which had not yet arrived. Unfortunately, we were basically done with the charcuterie board when the mustard and wine flight arrived (approximately 20 minutes after ordering.). About this time, a group of guests opened the nearby door to exit (not the main entrance) and a gust of wind blew our napkins and menus off the table. In addition, the host came to seat guests on both sides of us, and due to the proximity of the tables, basically stuck their rear-ends in our faces. Standouts of the tapas we ordered included the Grilled Hanger Steak (very tender), the bacon wrapped dates, and the Chorizo w/ Sweet&Sour Figs. The Chorizo dish I found especially delectable and creative! We also ordered the Broccolini which was so salty it was inedible. It’s supposed to be prepared with garlic and chili flakes, which could not be tasted above the overload of sodium. I believe there are a lot of nice aspects of Barcelona Wine Bar, but the lack of basic customer standards (lighting, condition of tables and chairs, server communication, not sticking your butt in guests’ faces, black pepper, timeliness of drink orders, etc…) force me to give such a low rating. For the price we paid, definitely not worth it. I will close on a positive note that our lead server, Trey, was outstanding.More

From the excellent Sangria to the wonderful assortment of tapas with friendly and efficient staff led by Rubby, it was a perfect evening at Barcelona. The potato bravas, dates gambas, croquettes and albondigas were our favorites.
