We tried a few other places but always came back to Madras Cafe during our 3 weeks in Rishikesh. The masala dosa is one of the best in India. The North Indian Thali is great. Their vegan brownies are totally the best brownies ever - vegan or not vegan. The staff is super. Friendly. Efficient. The food comes out of the kitchen fresh and hot. We ate breakfast and dinner there almost every day. The little shop with Ayurvedic items, incense, journals, and scents is great, too, with reasonable prices.

I had the best time of my trip with those people. They serve a veeeeery tasteful food and have a very nice service. Beside it, there’s a very enchanting organic goods store inside the restaurant!!! Just loved this place!!!

It's the second time i went there, (the last was at my visit in India in 2019). It's a small, cosy, clean Cafe-Restaurant, next to Ram Jula - Rishikesh, with very very good local food, middle range prices and good service! Even if today the -sooo lovely and sweet- old man who took my order made a mistake and brought me something else, i'm grateful for this, cause it was amazing tasteful (vegan briyani)! They have such a variety of dishes that you want to taste them all!! I'll come back! Congratulations!!

I am myself a South Indian based in Delhi/NCR. I did order Masala Dosa and Tea. You will have one of the worst Sambhar of your life, You will get the feel of eating Yellow Daal Fry while eating Sambhar. They are not even open to feedback. They are simply saying "Abhi tak to kisi ne complaint nahi kiya" Yaha aisa hi Banta hai. don't try

Beware of this "Madras" tag. The food is anything but South Indian. It is cold and tastes awful, especially idlis. They don't know how to make basic coconut chutney and sambar. The prices too are ridiculously high for such a horrible food.

This place has been around since the 60s. They serve 100% vegetarian. Located just past the area where all the tuk tuk park and surrounded by shopping, this eating area has a large sign and you can’t miss it. It is a stone throw away from our ashram at Yoga Niketan. It is small but they have a good selection of southern cuisine. Selection include pasta, salad, sandwiches, coffee and masala tea. There is also a tiny oil store inside. Food is good and prices are reasonable.

A lovely cafe that has good south Indian food. Also chai is unsweetened and one can choose how much sugar he/she ones to add to it. They also make the food to go and accept cards there.

On our one day trip to Rishikesh, we had our lunch at the Madras Cafe on a quite busy street in town. The food was good, we had different thalli's, parantha, vada, roti and sabji.. The food tasted good and was affordable too. Would recommend Gulab Jamun for a sweet from here. Overall good.

even though shop staffs have limited English, they pay attention to customers all the time, so we stayed comfortably every time. it is located in busy area, but we felt very safe even to visit alone. food was nice most importantly. ayurveda organic shop inside has attractive range of products. メニューの幅は広く、インド料理に飽きた時にもシリアルやパンケーキもあり、また美味しいコーヒーもあり毎日通いました。スタッフの英語力はイマイチですが、オーナーがいれば親切に色々と説明してくれます。

The restaurant offers both north Indin and South Indian cousines. We ordered both. Dosa and thali were average, while, north Indian food was terrible.

Food was good but the guy serving us could show more commitments. He was irritated when we asked questions on the menu.

We shouldnt have actually expected (or even tried) south indian food here. But we had heard of this place so much, and were actually craving for some well cooked rice and snacks. But the thali was disappointing. The service was negligent. Almost a 'dont care' attitude from the managing staff. The dosa was good, and also the chutney. And I might just visit it once more. But I really hoped it would live up to its legacy. (i guess this is the same place which Sri M mentions in his autobiography. I liked to remember that while I had my meal. Great men may have visited the place, and sat in the very same chairs... thats a great feeling...)
