We have been here many times. Food is great but today it was terrible. I called in an order as we were on a time-line. Got there. Order had not been processed and one of the baristas was very involved in a personal conversation with...friends. So disappointing.More
My family and I try to make a stop here on our way in or out of the NNK. The service has always been friendly and attentive. My children always get the smoothies - packed with flavor and delicious. The coffee and specialty drinks are...equally well done. The sandwiches we have ordered have been well prepared and very tasty. They have not let us down yet.More

Great breakfast place, with large selection of coffees and pastries. Breakfast made to order, so always hot and fresh. Simple surroundings, nothing fancy but certainly worth a stop while in the area.
We stopped at this place, after reading the wonderful reviews at TripAdvisor. It was such a disappointment. My salad was small and dry, the chicken sandwich was terribly seasoned. It is such a shame cause the stuff was so nice and we really wanted to...enjoy our lunch time on our road trip.More
Dropped by for lunch on a visit to Montross. The food, atmosphere and service were excellent with plenty of space for social distancing. A cold larger was perfect with the girls enjoying a mango smoothie. If you are in Montross a definite must!
Did not get to try this place for breakfast but went there several times for specialty coffees. Outstanding expresso drinks both hot and iced. Also wonderful pastries. Hands down better than Starbucks. Friendly staff with quaint interior.

Great coffee, patisseries and breakfast. I have not been overly impressed with lunches there. The food is very good, but the portions are too small for the money. I have had chicken salad sandwiches and BLTs. and there is not enough filling btwn the bread.
This little gem has been serving the best breakfast on the northern neck of Virginia for years and still attracts the most eclectic patrons from farmers to weekend visitors from northern Virginia. A very nice café featuring the works of local artists, all for sale. The service was very friendly and my breakfast of two eggs over easy, home fries and bacon arrived quickly and tasted good.
Been there twice now, but had no coffee, but the omlette is fantastic. Had something else today, but cannot tell you what, cause real men don't eat it.
The breakfast selection is from a breakfast sandwich to eggs meat potatoes platter to pancakes. The lunch is sandwiches and paninis. The coffe to gourmet coffee is all that you can imagine. Local art hangs on the wall. They have a good selection of wines...to enjoy also.More
I travel the Northern Neck of Virginia quite a bit mostly for sailing and kayaking along the Potomac River. Montross is one of those those towns best described as small and inviting. The home of waterman and honest blue collar citizens with evidence of a...growing art community. The Art of Coffee seems to embrace all of that. The atmosphere at The art of Coffee is great! Sit outside or inside...it's all very pleasant. I enjoyed a breakfast of french toast and coffee complete with a slice of watermelon. They seemed to be a little understaffed but our order was taken quickly. The food is cooked fresh so don't expect a 5 minute turnaround. Enjoy your coffee till the food arrives, Pricewise I would say that the food is a bit on the higher price range. My french toast and coffee came to about $9 or $10. Overall a very good dining experience. I'll be back.More
