Visiting MacMillan over the holidays, our brother-in-law knew about MacMillan's. We made reservations for 5. Our server was good and also had to ask a more "seasoned" co-worker about the different scotch. This is ok since there were so many and all the questions were answered by one person or other.
This restaurant is small so I recommend making reservations. Great variety of whisky (whiskey) and prices vary. Food was good.

First time here with friends. Sat at the bar and LuLu the bartender took great care of us. Enjoyed numerous whiskeys. Food was great. We had the Scotch eggs done perfectly; the meatballs with Guinness sauce was outstanding, the Steak and Guinness pie hit the spot as did the French Onion soup and the tomato soup. Small place and busy. I recommend making a reservation. Great Gin, beer and wine selections also. Go and enjoy!

We all ordered the french onion soup. It actually looks better than it tastes. There was not much broth at all in mine and the croutons used as the bread along with the fried onions seemed to soak up whatever brother there was. As for the main course, I was happy with my salmon and because they were out of mashed potatoes, I got tater tots. I think I preferred the tater tots with it anyway. The Brussel sprouts were good as was the salmon. The others ordered the chicken pot pie. They liked it. As for the drinks. I stuck with the blood and sand drink. It was tasty.

Great place for drinks and socializing. They also have food so it is worth stopping by. The inside is very good and unique in style. Service was on point and cocktails are very well
Crafted. Plenty of outdoor seating. They also have brunch.

Excellent whiskey bar with great wine and beer selections for those who are not whisky fans. They have an unbelievable selection of bourbons, whiskey's and rye's and the owners and servers are extremely knowledgeable - just tell them what you are looking for and they will put together an amazing flight. The food is fantastic too - highly recommend the tots! Great service, fun vibe - perfect for a night out with friends or a date. Will definitely be back!

MacMilan is exactly what I hoped for: not a craft beer bar, not a wine bar, but a bar specializing in high quality whisky. It has the goods, with shelves to the ceiling with whiskies and a menu featuring both cocktails and different tasting flights. It has the vibe, too, with the aforementioned wall of spirits and ambience that feels both upscale and casual at the same time. I don’t know what the food is like, but I don’t know why you would come for the food.

They reserved us a great table and the waitress remembered us from another time coming. She was very attentive. I ordered the steak and Guinness pie. It was very good. Not a traditional way, but very good. I definitely will go back.

The interior is BEAUTIFUL! We loved the decor and vibe of this place. Bar stools were actually comfortable. Happy Hour is Tuesday - Friday 3PM - 7:30PM. We had plans for dinner elsewhere but food looked amazing.

We had to stay overnight near the Mosaic District as my 24 year old daughter had an appointment near there which were required an overnight stay. We were very hungry and had looked at menus to see where we could eat. Macmillian Whiskey Room seemed to be more boutique (when I travel, I steer away from chains) and we wanted a steak. Most of the Mosaic District is Urban Mexican, Asian, and very trendy. We can get that anywhere. So we got there relatively early at about 5:20 p.m. We went up to request to be put on the list. The hostess was just plain rude. (I wish I had gotten her name but the place is dark and she was leaned over every time we spoke with her). When I said table for 2 she said "It will be a while". I said do you have an estimate? and she said "No". I gave her our cell and she said she would text us when a table was available. We walked around and then thought we would double check. It had been over an hour. I went back and there to kindly inquire about the status. There was a young couple inquiring for the first time. The hostess treated them completely different. Took their number and said she would text. They also asked how long did she estimate. She said "shouldn't be too bad, you are number 9.". So I inquired nicely about where we stood on the list. She said "I really cannot tell you". I then asked "how could you tell the people in front of us. "She said they are number 9". I asked if she could tell me where we were and after asking our name she said "you are number 4". I said thank you and expected to be called when the table opened. Well, we never did get called. I don't think the hostess EVER intended to call us. There were two tops open the every time we were there so In the two hours we waited, those tables did not get seated. The place is small and load. Might have personality but just too small. We still wanted to give it a try but they are a bar, not a restaurant. I cannot tell you why but I feel we were somehow profiled not to be seated. Rudest and most unqualified hostess. I work in the travel industry and my family owns 6 bar/restaurants in Washington, DC. Will never go back and will for sure never recommend them. Sadly, we wasted so much time and had to rush to get something to eat and with Mosaic choices had to go Mexican which we were not in the mood for. I also heard a woman at a table saying to her server "do you think we could trouble you for an appetizer". She was not happy. Too small and too bad of service. Disappointed and will not recommend others waste their time. Owners should be more aware of their employees and how they treat their patrons.

MacMillan is pretty smart. They know everyone will just drink whiskey so they also offer wines and other drinks.
We came in and just wanted some prosecco and we got that and some small plates and they were prepared very well. The waitress was attentive and checked on us several times to ensure all was well, and I have the say the service was really very good.

stopped in for father’s day. online described a brunch along with a vast selection with good pricing and pappy van winkle. when we got there no brunch no pappy and drink prices were higher than posted. for father’s day they did a jack n come special. seriously for father’s day in a whiskey bar. food was average. afterwards they revamped the web took off pappy and drink prices. i think till they figure out what they are doing it’s only good for a drink. eat elsewhere in the mosaic.

We were looking for something after a movie and came here. We ordered bruschetta while looking at the drink menu. It came as 4 tiny cold slices of bread with diced tomatoes that looked and tasted as if it came out of a can. A disappointing start. We ordered a mint julip and a tasting flight of whiskey. The mint julip was 90% ice and came with a paper straw that immediately disintegrated. When I asked for another straw, I was given a coffee stirrer that no liquid could get through. The whiskey flight was $18 and if you looked too quickly you might the liquid in the glass because there was so little. For dinner we ordered the fish and chips. The dishes came swimming in grease with limp fries. After a $72 bill we stopped on the way home for dessert because we were hungry.

Stumbled upon the gem! Recently opened, this has a wonderful Old World Pub feel with and extensive Scotch, Whiskey and Bourbon selection. The staff is up beat and friendly! It’s a must if visiting the Mosaic!
