Based on the reviews, we weren't disappointed. Quality food for a surprisingly good price and excellent service.

Visited the restaurant a few times, both lunch and evening. Excellent, interesting food, and great value for money at lunchtime. It's clear that a lot of thought is given to the menus which change fortnightly, and everything is"fait a Maison". Friendly staff, good value wines...and interesting to have Italian wines. Recommended to book in advance. Will be going again very soon.More

First time here. Lunchtime two menus one at 17€ second 24.50€ both three course. Menubsait dishes could not be changed......great when you have cheese allergy ! Entrees were fine and beautifully presented, main three of us on the more expensive menu had cod on risotto...very nice indeed, my wife had the turkey it was a good sized piece and nicely presented but it was raw in the middle!! We could not say anything as we were invited there by clients who were treating us. Onto desert the three on the more expensive menu had a wonderful chocolate and mandarin mousse dessert, top marks here it was great......my wife allergic to cheese which we had told the waiter was served the sweet from her menu Panacotta !! When she pushed it aside the waiter did ask if there was a problem she said yes it is cheese I cannot eat it, it was removed but nothing was offered as an alternative....very bad. Overall view, the more expensive menu was fine, allergies could not be catered for, limited menu no choice of dishes just a two meal menu that was unchangeable.....such a pityMore

We went with friends for lunch. There was only the choice of 2 menus, the menu du marché or menu plaisir. I elected to have the menu du marché. My soup was very average with some disgusting foam on the top. My main was a...chunk of turkey breast which was raw in the centre! The rest of the party had the menu plaisir. The starter was fine & the fish was ok but very small portions. Their pudding was spectacular. Won’t both returning as there are better places to eat in Pontivy.More

Excellent quality, fresh and locally sourced produce. Despite the waiting staff/owners being exceptionally busy they are pleasant, cheerful and very attentive. Would definately recommend and eat there again.

Nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. Some of the meals as they were a bit too creamy and bland but our biggest disappointment is that they ran out of the dessert we had ordered at the start of the meal and the replacement was not...very good. This was made worse when a table who arrived after us then received what we had ordered!More

I could write a whole page on how disappointed we were after looking forward to this highly recommended restaurant which was a special treat for us but I'll try and be concise. The plus points the food looked amazing, Masterchef standard and attention to detail...obviously lots of care and time had gone in to the preparation . The taste however and I consider myself to have a good palate when it comes to flavour was bland, each delightful morsel should have packed a punch or at least given a hint of some underlying ingredient but sadly failed. A pleasant ravioli of scallop in a crab bisque was ruined by a blob of icecream that added nothing but cold to a warm dish. I know it wasn't meant to be normal ice ream but that's what it tasted like. A chicken breast balanced artfully on a bed of veg was dry but the skin was wet and flaccid again nothing in the flavour department , it should have been lifted by a horseradish sauce that never came until we asked the waiter who acted as if it was someone else's fault not his when the sauce had been sitting on the pass. Same with the cheese course, bread didnt appear so not wanting to make a fuss we duly ate the very nice cheese selection and then when he cleared the plates he was incensed that we didn't have bread! The dessert should have saved the day, they looked magnificent with their curls of chocolate and edible silver foil but it needed something to lift the flavour, quelle suprise when just as we finished them our neighbours received theirs with a loving flourish of a caramel sauce poured on by the waiter which I'm sure made all the difference. Perhaps it was a bad night, it was certainly busy but our impression overall was of a restaurant with an Italian name only giving a slight nod to Italy, certainly not the Cucina povera that were used to in Italy and trying too hard with the presentation while the flavours of the food went amiss. Oh and it was cold in the restaurant. Not somewhere we'd return to in a hurry. We've lived in Brittany for five years and have grown used to a high standard even a modest plat du jour usually delivers great flavours. A case of the Emperors new clothes I think. Oh dear I have written a full page!More

Went here with my hubby whilst on holiday. We'd read great things about this Michelin trained chef and thought we'd give it a go. The food was edible, but it wasn't anything special. It looked fancy but lacked any real taste, and the plates were,...in my opinion, trying too hard to be fancy. For example, my main was a piece of white fish, covered in curry sauce, on a bed of stuffed ravioli filled with ricotta and spicy sausage. With turnip, carrot and a single mange tout. Completely unnecessary to have so many flavours on one plate, the delicate fish was completely lost. The waiters were smiley, polite, and very busy. But it took us over 2.5 hours to eat three courses. Bit much when you consider we only had the choice of two starters, two mains and three desserts. I wouldn't go again and I'm sure there must be other places locally that have tastier food for the same moneyMore

Double recommendation (tripadvisor and the owner of our B&B) led us to spent our last evening in Bretagne in restaurant Al Dente. The expectations were very high, and were met from the start. The waiters were very friendly, and the apetisers (focacia, tomato, croquette of...sardines, mozzarella were of a very promising level. In the evening, you can only take the menu (a 27 EUR) which consist of a choice between 2 starters, 2 main dishes and 4 desserts. We took one of each starter and main dish, and all 4 dishes were outstanding. Many congrats to the chef and his team in the kitchen. The desserts just followed the quality of the dishes and were very good. Why then not a quotation of 5/5, but only 4/4 ? Well the tempo of the meals was very slow. We started at 19:30 and 3 courses later, we finished after 22:00. Just 3 courses in 2,5 hours is much to slow. And knowing the restaurant is ‘Italian’ we expected a bit more ‘energy’.More

We went for dinner here following the good reviews on Trip Advisor. I have to say it surpassed our expectations! The food was excellent, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was good and staff very pleasant. It certainly gave value for money. We...can highly recommend this restaurant. In fact, we've booked in again for the last night of our holiday!More
