My Wife was having Surgery at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center in Houston Wednesday, I spent time with her until she was prepared then I went for Lunch. There is a place in the same Building called "Au Bon Pain" (nice name for being in a...Hospital Building) that I ate at before some years back and it was pretty good. I know they get busy at Lunch Time and I'm hoping they are not busy now. Walked in and they were not busy - Nice. They changed it around some since I was here last. Lots of Employees around to assist you. The Menu is displayed on the wall about where they prepare the food and a few Employees in front of the counter to take your order. The rest of what you choose is 'self-serve', then you pay at the Cashiers with tables to choose from behind them. I looked over the Menu and decided on the "Black Bean Burger" on Ciabatta Bread with NY Cheddar, Fresh Avocado, Pickled Red Onions, Tomatoes & Chipotle Mayo. I also picked up a small container of "Mac-N-Cheese" with NY Cheddar & Parmesan - and a Medium Hazelnut Coffee with Light Cream. Soon my 'Black Bean Burger' was ready and given to me all wrapped up tight. Paid for my order and found a table. That Black Bean Burger looks Very Good - and it was. Every Bite of this Freshly Made Tastylicious 'Burger-Sandwich' was Delicious. The Mac-N-Cheese was Very Creamy with Perfectly Prepared Noodles - and a pretty good amount in that small container. The Hazelnut Coffee was also Very Tasty Coffee, which I really needed. Soon my Lunch was all gone and I decided I needed more - So I went back to the Menu and looked it over once again and saw they have a picture of a "Turkey-Bacon Melt" that really looks good - with Roast Turkey, Hardwood-Smoked BACON and Melted NY Cheddar, with Arugula & their Signature Herb Aioli on Country White Bread. I placed my order with one of the Employees at the counter and waited - but not long. Soon my Sandwich was handed to me all wrapped up. Returned to my table after I paid for it and unwrapped this Very Warm Sandwich. This also looks Delicious with Turkey slices stacked up pretty high. Each Bite I took melted in my mouth - this is One Delicious Turkey Melt with lots of Tastylicious Flavor. As I was eating this Beautiful Sandwich, Au Bon Pain was filling up with lots of Customers placing orders - well over 20 Customers. Au Bon Pain is Packed. Check'em out On-Line and on Facebook - Au Bon Pain Houston. They have lots of Employees here and they All are Awesome, providing the Best Customer Service you will ever receive - and the Food is also Awesome. Ya Gonna Luv It All.More

The lentil soup had hard or uncooked lentils and the hummus was dry without flavor. I have had pretty decent food here before but today was definitely not good.

Was taking my grandson to the doctor, which was a long stay. It is nice to have a place to get a quick bit to eat, while waiting.

Stopped by for a salad. Had the Cobb with Chicken and Avocado. Very good and filling. They will also mix in the dressing for you so you get an even coat on everything.

My first visit to this chain, it was busy but the servers walked around to each customer taking orders. The order was finished very quickly given the lunch rush. Great tasting sandwiches!

Very tasty food in general. If you're coming for a certain soup or macaroni, it is hit/miss since they rotate self serving tubs of their soups daily. Everyone speaks highly of their macaroni and cheese but I've never seen it. The sandwiches are delicious, however...a bit pricey.More

I love the salmon breakfast here with egg and spinach. Very convenient when we have to be in the hospital early morning with no sign of a quick release. The staff is friendly and service is quick.

I work in the area, so I eat at Au Bon Pain several times a month. They have a great selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches so I am always guaranteed a good lunch. I have never tried their breakfast foods, so I can't review...those. I do stay away from their coffee. I tried it once, and didn't manage more than one sip. The staff is friendly!More

This second floor fast food restaurant is a nice "get away" from the crowd at Hermann Hospital. The food is decent and not surprisingly overpriced. If you want something different than the cafeteria at Hermann, this is an alternative.

I recently spent quite a bit of time at Memorial Hermann in Houston. If it wasn't for this spot, I may have starved while I was there. Everything I had was great. It does get a little chaotic at times and it is a serve...yourself restaurant with uncomfortable seating, but well worth the stop when you are working at the medical center or visiting someone there. I usually took my orders to go and ate them at a more comfortable place. I have to say I was surprised that the things I ordered were things you would expect from a table service restaurant or bistro at lunch time. They also have a lot of bakery items and their bagels were really good. Also, there is a section for people in a really big hurry with pre made items which are surprisingly good. I usually special ordered and waited for a sandwich. I would recommend that if you are going to be spending time at the medical center to give this restaurant a try. In my opinion, it is the best food in the whole complex. It is a little more expensive than your average deli, but not by much and the convenience of not having to leave the complex to get a good meal is certainly worth any cost difference.More

This is kinda like your standard Au Bon Pain. Lots of baked pastries, artisan breads are used for sandwiches. Service is friendly enough. Almost all menu items have calorie information posted (but not more detailed). My lone complaint is that their mac n' cheese is...supposed to be out of this world. But I wouldn't know since they never have it.More
