We saw this place highlighted in an episode of the Texas Bucket List tv show. Flew our airplane to Houston (used KIWS; fantastic FBO there) and grabbed the courtesy car to drive in to this place. WARNING: Houston traffic is downright ferocious. The restaurant is...everything the tv show made it to be. Service is terrific, people are super friendly, food is crazy nuts good. Portions are astronomical and we always have leftovers. You have to pay $10 to park in the lot across the street due to limited street parking, and the owner's father runs the lot. Very nice guy. Owned by a husband and wife team and got to meet the husband owner last time there - just super folks. Look forward to our return. Willing to fight (the operative word) the traffic as it's just one of the best places around. Go hungry!!More
I came from out of state to visit family and went to TLH in Houston. Food and service was great but our vehicle was broken into and over $13,000 and a firearm was stolen. When I went back to inquire a TLH employee told me...that his little homies were the ones that did it and then he asked me how much would I pay to get my stuff back? I have then found out that a lot of cars get broken into in that same area so is it fair to say that some of the TLH employees are involved with all these cars getting broken into? I will NEVER eat there again and it had nothing to do with the food or service! Hopefully someone looks into this because nobody should have to worry about losing personal property when coming to the TLH!More
The Turkey Leg Hut is absolutely worth the hype!!! We made a reservation for 6 on a Thursday night. They charge $25 per person to secure the reservation. The amount is taken off of the bill. We were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. I...ordered the shrimp Alfredo leg and it was great! The portions are huge!!! If you aren’t a big eater then it’s best to share. The drinks were awesome and strong. My sister ordered hookah, I didn’t partake, but she said it was good. I really enjoyed the music as well. All in all great dinner.More
We had heard good things about this black-owned restaurant and stopped by to see what the fuss was all about. Short wait to get and they do have a dress code. Saw some people turned away or asked to order to go because they were...under dressed. Appreciated that the servers go up to introduce themselves and tell you how the food is bring prepared while offering you a list of drinks. Food was a bit of a wait but def worth it. I got the stuffed seafood turkey leg, mostly shrimp on top. DELICIOUS and full of flavor. Never imagined eating a turkey leg like that. The only thing i wasn’t particularly pleased was with the fact my pasta was cold and my turkey leg was almost burning. For having to wait such a long time for food, they gotta do a better job making sure sides come out just as fresh. Other than that I would definitely come. The atmosphere and food were plentyMore
Came in the night before Thanksgiving with a reservation, no turkey legs. Was told by manager that night that I needed to speak with woman over reservations to get refunded. Called and she stated I would not be refunded because turkey legs are not guaranteed...at turkey leg hut. Lol. Never again.More
Florentine Turkey Leg stuffed potato Cajun Mac and crawfish turkey leg Ordered as a family. Party of 13. Excellent service from beginning to end. Our server Miata B was top notch. Friendly, knowledgeable, patient and did everything with a smile!! Will return. Much love
Unfortunately this place is surviving it seems on social media hype and embellishment. The food is at best mediocre. They cannot be tasting the food they send! The turkey legs are extremely over seasoned and using the excuse that it is southern style restaurant is...absurd! The one the other had are bland and do not travel well. By the time I got them home they were soggy, tasteless and overstuffed with ingredients that did nothing to enhance flavor. This place is just an Instagram/TicTok photo opportunity and that’s about it. If you are a foodie you WILL be disappointed.More
PARKING: Everything you read or see in these reviews about parking believe it! There is no way they should be charging for parking and you inside spending $100+ at the establishment and the owner also owns the parking lot they charging you to park in....Parking can be a deal breaker for me but I was traveling with others, so I went along with the group. We got there early enough to only have to pay $10 but they have a double sided sign so when we left, it was flipped around to the $20 price point. LOL FOOD: The food at best is mediocre. The fries with the cheese and turkey meat on them are very good. Everything else was just ok, nothing to write home about. If you want to say you came to eat here then come, but if you want really good food, don't come here. You can get a turkey leg from Walmart or any supermarket and wrap it in foil and bake then add your toppings on it. They hype and buzz generated by social media is real and often misleading, and this is a prime example! The dirty rice or whatever type of rice that is they have on the one turkey leg, is not the flavor you expect and its spicy but without the seasoning--kinda hard to describe, but it was not really good. The Florentine turkey leg sounds like a good idea but it is poorly executed. Its cream sauce, spinach, shrimp and onions poured over a roasted turkey leg--was excited for it but not the flavor expecting. The pasta was spicy and just heavy, not good, not terrible. ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere was nice overall, but the customer service would have elevated it. They are just kinda in there like whatever, you came because you wanted to be here not because we want you here. So this is definitely an opportunity for them! People are traveling to your establishment for an experience, and with the food being lackluster, you can definitely still provide an atmosphere that will make up somewhat for that, and I was hopeful for that but nope, they was like whatever our money made either way. LOL and thats terrible!More
I came here on 9.30.2022 with my cousins and friends. I ordered tacos and the waitress said they had sour cream, however when my food came there was no sour cream. I spoke with the manager and he said “ oh well what u want...me to do?” He said they do not have sour cream!!! He walked off before I can say a word!!!!!! Very arrogantly. And on top of it the Tacod we’re DISGUSTING!!!!! Sincerely, Unhappy Guest.More
Was staying at the hostel nearby and decided to walk here for lunch and after waiting nearly 1 hour, my food was greasy and it's so loud inside you can barely hold a conversation.
I've been following them since they had a little over 1000 followers on IG. Now they have a half a million. I finally got my opportunity to dine. I got the shrimp Alfredo and my wife got the Florentin and they both were delicious and...lived up to the hype. Shout out to our server Destinie S. She was extremely kind and attentive. **if you wanna avoid the long lines, try eating there between 11am and 3pm**More
If you want a big plate of meat served in an atmosphere where THEY act like it’s their privilege for you to be there and you’re not a drinker - maybe you’ll like it. The Turkey leg I ordered was too spicy for me to...eat although it’s the bare minimum spice. When I mentioned to the server, he acted like I should have known- his comment was “it’s a Cajun restaurant”. Where in the name of Turkey leg Hut did I miss that. The only alcohol they served was Crown Royal. smh….never againMore
I got the turkey leg with Mac and cheese it was too much going on.The plate was confused I was confused. One the side I got some rice it was AMAZING also got some drink the waitress recommended that too was good.I don't remember her name...but her birthday was Aug 31st.She was on point not hovering but was there when you needed her.I would recommend the turkey leg but not with the Mac and cheese. The rice is a must.More
All I can say is I was thinking in my head that this place was over rated!! That is so not the case. If you ever in Houston check them out!! I would recommend going for lunch and they were busy then but we were...seated fairly quickly. Our waiter was super nice and food was seasoned to the bone. I will go again when I’m back in Houston!!More
