Great staff, interesting menu, good coffee. My dad rated 5 although I vote 4. My stepmom thought her bacon was greasy, sitting in grease. Me & my dad had Misquito Benedict which was good. He loved it. I less so but I had to leave...scone off because of gluten & have decided I don’t love artichokes They do have gluten free menu but they need to update it. For example, the gf menu lists gf/keto bread options but there are none. Go early for no wait!More

This small gem in old Galveston packs a lot of options into a small menu, satisfying the tastes of 4 different diners: an omnivore, a vegetarian, a strict vegan and a professed "picky eater" with delicious food--and great service. As a bonus we bought yummy...cranberry muffins for breakfast the next morning.More

We ate here 2 days in a row because we liked it so much. Very comfortable atmosphere and the outdoor patio was perfect. I was able to create the breakfast bowl without eggs.

My husband and I just happened up on this place and we were very happy that we did. Before we left the place was packed. We both had pancakes and bacon which was delicious.

Mosquito Cafe was recommended by our Airbnb host, and it did not disappoint! The casual atmosphere was fun. the staff was pleasant and went the extra mile. We went there for dinner, but because we could, members of our family ordered breakfast (shrimp and grits),...dinner (chicken alfredo and carnitas tacos), and the loaded corn cakes. The grits were tasty and creamy. The chicken alfredo was tender and rich. The carnitas were just what my husband wanted - tasty but not too spicy and the loaded corn cakes had me wondering how close I could come to making them at home. Everyone loved their order and went home with enough food for tomorrow's lunch.More

Had the cold shrimp skewer and Thai salad. It was tasty but totally drenched in balsamic vinegar. Not the peanut sauce listed on the menu. The BBQ pork was good, but we had to remind the servers to bring cole slaw. It was pricey, $41,...but there was plenty of food once you added in the dessert. Terrible service. Our food sat in the kitchen window for 5 minutes while all the wait staff stood around looking at their phones. The order takers were just that- very little personality or friendliness. This place is fine if you just want to run in for dessert but there are plenty of better restaurants for that kind of money.More

I haven't been here in about four years, but remembered it for being flavorful and fresh. This morning I walked there from my VRBO rental & ordered the crab omelet & was so disappointed in the flavor & lack of freshness. The menu states that...besides crab it has artichoke hearts & "fresh asparagus". Not only was there no asparagus, the canned artichokes were so strongly pickley tasting that it overpowered the crab. Other than that flavor, the omelet & potatoes were bland & not seasoned at all. When I asked about the lack of asparagus I was told they just scooped a mixed vegetable assortment mix to add in the omelet. So much for fresh! Very much feel I wasted my money here. The service & staff were good but won't be returning due to high priced mediocre food.More

I had several people tell me that this is a great place to eat, so when we made a weekend trip to Galveston we stopped in. I order the breakfast. I got two eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. What I got was 2 slices if...bread, not toasted, undercooked eggs that were so runny, even the whites, bacon that may have stayed on the grill for 30 seconds, barely had changed color, and potatoes that were very greasy. I guess this is truly a place for locals and not tourists. I should have taken pictures of my food and posted.More

We came in out of a thunderstorm and the cafe was almost empty. No greeting. Sat at table for 10 minutes before being told we had to order at the counter. At these prices we didn't expect "self service" nor chewy bacon nor soggy "roasted"...potatoes. Like the weather, a big disappointment.More

Paid $100.00 for 4 of us, was worth so much less. 2 burgers w/ chips, 1 chicken salad croissant and 1 Island Slammer with a small fruit bowl. The only person who liked their food was the person who ordered the Island Slammer. The burgers...were so bland, I think fast food would have been better. The chicken salad didn't even get eaten after a couple of bites. We won't be back.More

When we were there in March, there wasn't a play area for kids. Just indoor seating and a patio outside in the back for seating as well.
