Old drug store is quaint and homey as it takes you back in time. Second time we have been, once for dessert which was pretty good. Went for a late breakfast on Sunday, fairly crowded but got seated and had a good meal. Had omelettes,...More

Star Drug Store is the kind of place that I really enjoy finding, when traveling. I look for places with history and personality. However, my visit here was disappointing. The food was fairly standard diner fare, ranging from tasty to forgettable. No real complaints, but...More

Located in downtown Galveston... just a few blocks from the cruise ship terminals. A historic drug store was converted into a diner that serves breakfast and lunch home-style meals, desserts, malts, fountain drinks. My wife and I stopped by on a Saturday morning. Although it...More

Food was just ok. Service was good. Interesting decor and history. Worth the visit when downtown on the Strand

I took my family to this place thinking it would be a nice Way to mix things up. The atmosphere was really neat the history was awesome; however most of us didn’t really like our food – it was definitely edible but lacking in flavor...More

Stopped in for lunch, had a bacon cheeseburger and it was very flavorful, good portion of fries and great tea. A friend had the salad sampler and it said it was very good too. When we walked in the lady at the front asked how...More

A business as tough as Texas - survived fires, floods and hurricanes! All with a charm that gives folks a glimpse into social life in the early 20th century. The grill was under repair, but the salads and sandwiches took care of filling our bellies...More

Picked up the menu fact sheet and discovered that this was the first establishment diner to desegregate its patrons. What an accolade to have as part of your history. Its a real experience to have breakfast here especially taking all the history in as you...More

Nostalgia. A really exciting throwback to a simpler time. Hearty food, great service, and a local atmosphere make the STAR a great little breakfast spot. Try the grits or the pancakes, you'll not be disappointed.

This is a throwback to when you sat at a counter and watched them whip up your milkshake. The decor is like being in a thrift shop. The waitress is busy but friendly. The food is surprisingly good. Come for the nostalgia.
