This is a really interesting place. They certainly don't make it easy to find (you'd spend 15 minutes on the website looking for the location) and as far as I could tell the hours are not listed anywhere. Weird. Anyway, it's next to the control tower on George Bush drive on the other side of 2818 from the university (next to. the fixed base operator, Astin Aviation).
The place is surprisingly large and the two times I've been there surprisingly uncrowded. There is lots of seating where you can watch planes landing and taking off, which is nice. Another (really) nice aspect is that they don't play music, so one can actually carry on a conversation without yelling. On the other hand, the lighting is way too bright. It would be perfect if they turned the lights down by 50%.
We were very impressed with the wait staff (Jacob). He was there when you needed him and not there when you didn't. That's very unusual for this college town where the waiters are usually there when you don't want them and not there when you do. A+ for Jacob. On the other hand, the hostesses were obviously bored our of their minds and clearly wished they were somewhere else.
With regard to the food, the news is mostly good. My date had the BLT salad and a 4 oz. portion of steak. She said both were excellent and the steak was perfectly cooked. I had the fish of the day, which was flounder. The portion was large (too large) and the quality was pretty pathetic. I wish now that I had ordered the salmon (apricot and horseradish glaze: sounds really interesting). I also had the house salad which was really good. The wine selections are mostly grocery store quality, but that was fine. We had the Josh pinot noir and it was good. For dessert we had the skillet apple pie with ice cream, that was really good too.
So, the bottom line is that this is an interesting place and definitely worth a try. It would be really nice if they turned the lights down but it is wonderful that there isn't music playing (that alone is reason to go). The service is good, and although my fish was so-so, I think many of the (extensive) menu items are probably good. The price was reasonable.

First time diner at this place and was not disappointed. Had a large group which was no problem for the place or the waitstaff. We all had different plates such as steak, pasta, shrimp and grits, etc. all was cooked perfect and tasted great. Had some home made desserts of key lime pie, cheesecake, and creme brulee . Excellent! They also have a full bar . The waitstaff was attentive and it was nice to dine white overlooking the airport runways. Nice place to dine! Highly recommend!!

We had heard from some friends that visit B/CS quite often that the people they visit love to go to Gate 12. It's a restaurant at Easterwood Airport that is designed so a lot of the tables have a view of the airport ramp and runways.
While we were there, the relatives we were visiting told is they wanted to take us someplace they thought I would really like and it turned out it was Gate 12! They had even made reservations and asked for a specific table so that we'd be sure to have a good view of any aircraft that were operating while we were there. It turns out they weren't terribly crowded during our visit but apparently that isn't always the case so the reservation was very thoughtful of them.
The restaurant is very bright, modern and pleasant. There's a good collection of aircraft and flying memorabilia on the walls. Our server was absolutely top notch. Not only was she very good at her job, she was pleasant, cheerful, funny and just delightful. I wish that wasn't so unusual and notable to me but it is.
My wife had the Shrimp BLT. I had the Reuben. Her brother had the Bacon Cheeseburger and our Sister-in-Law, with her iron willpower, had a special that wasn't on the menu. It was a very healthy broiled fish with fresh vegetables and a salad. She put the rest of is to shame! We all thought our food was good and my wife, who kind of wondered about the Shrimp BLT (but took our server at her word that it was good) really enjoyed it.
Even though there was not a lot of air traffic that day, we did get so see some aircraft come and go which was neat. But the best part was getting together with some family we hadn't seen in a long time and whom we love dearly and enjoying a delicious meal with great service. This is a place I'd return to in a heartbeat the next time we're in B/CS.

Food is good, Service is Terrific. A must try for everyone. Suggestion is to make a reservation, they appreciate the knowledge of pre-planning your visit. One of the reviews complained about crab cake being served loose and how it fell apart. Well, I would rather have it hand-made and loosely formed than to have the crab cake formed with a machine and then frozen for its trip to the restaurant. They are excellent and you need to order during your visit.

Went with a group of friends to celebrate a special milestone birthday. Had eaten here several times before for lunch but first time for dinner. Was overall a terrific experience with great service and fantastic food. Favorites were the mozzarella sticks, the calamari, the salmon, the chicken friend steak and the crab cakes. The complementary buttermilk pie for the birthday girl was a nice touch, and the key lime pie was also delicious. Highly recommend this place

Reservation made 2 months before graduation for 10. Called back to see if we could add 2 more. Absolutely not, there were no more tables. When the party arrived for the graduation luncheon there were empty seats everywhere except the bar, which was packed. We were early. Saw the table being set up and went to car to get flower arrangements for tables and was told in no uncertain terms that our reservation was at !;30 and we could not put the arrangements on the tables (set for us) before that time. When we finally were seated, the table was set for 12, and my credit card was charged a deposit for 12!!!!!! We told the waiter that we were told we could not have 12 people!!!! The reservation person was so rude, it put a damper on the day. When the bill came, I was given a gift card????? Apparently, this was to be deducted from the final bill. It was extremely confusing. The food is excellent. The service is great, but that one person could keep a lot of people out of that restaurant. If you go, don't bother making a reservation, unless you take some acid indigestion tablets with you.

We were with a large group traveling by bus. We toured the George H. W. Bush presidential museum and then drove over to the restaurant for lunch, which is very close. Though prearranged for our group, the restaurant did a great job of accommodating our group and taking orders and serving food. The meals were very good and the portions were large. Nice open and airy restaurant with a view of the airstrip and parked airplanes. Lots of seating.

Calamari was served with a bbq flavored sauce, which neither my husband or myself particularly enjoyed. Chicken scampi pasta was very bland and flavorless. Wagu burger was decent nothing to brag about. Sweet potato waffle fries served with a side of maple butter and the pairing was unexpected and delicious tasted like a dessert.

Friends of ours invited us to join them for dinner at Gate 12 after an Aggie game. The dinner choices were more posh than I was expecting since we were dining at the airport. I had the creole mustard glazed salmon topped with shrimp, and it was delicious. My husband had the Madeira chicken and enjoyed his as well. Loved the roasted broccolini that accompanied mine. Could have done without the julienned vegetables. They had a nice array of fun cocktails and desserts, so everyone ordered different things and enjoyed sharing. They even decorated the plates for those who were celebrating birthdays. The restaurant has an aviation theme, and from certain tables you can watch the planes on the runway as they take off and land. I think it would be nice if they dimmed the lights in the evening for a little more upscale atmosphere to match the caliber of the food. Service was good and friendly. Our group had a great time; steak eaters loved their meals as well. Noise level was a little high, but didn't bother us. One thing not to miss - they have the propeller from the Enola Gay on display. Great spot for aviation buffs to enjoy. I'd recommend making a reservation on game days.

My wife and I tried Gate 12 Bar and Grill for lunch on our anniversary after it was recognized as one of the 10 best restaurants in Central Texas. While it was cool to sit on the patio and watch the planes take off and land, it speaks poorly of Central Texas restaurants to rate this one of the best. My wife’s BLT salad was hanging over the plate and difficult to eat. She commented that they needed to serve it on an adequately sized plate. My Ruben was soggy on the bottom and the fries were cool and limp. Amazingly, the fries crisped up as they sat. The lunch was good, but not top 10 good. There has to be 10 better restaurants in Central Texas. Gate 12 is middle of the road at best.

Gate 12 Bar and Grill is located on the property of Easterwood Airport in College Station. In fact, it is located in the old terminal. This restaurant offers a diverse menu, from sandwiches to steaks to seafood. While we were there we were able to watch military and private planes arrive and depart, The food was good and the service was friendly. Sitting in the room that overlooks the runways can be loud, not because of the planes, but because the flood is concrete and the walls brick and loud crowds make it difficult to carry on a normal conversation.

Salmon was dry, bourbon carrots had no taste beyond carrots, mashed potatoes were not from scratch, clearly out of a box...can't really understand what the attraction is to watch a few planes get refueled. Will not come again, and won't recommend to anyone else. I thought my lunch there was bad, this meal was overpriced and worse...

Went to Gate 12 with friends and family after the Aggie game. Had heard this was a great place and we weren’t disappointed. Personal and friendly service, and good food and drink. Best things were the jalapeño poppers, the chicken fried and the sweet potato fries with cinnamon butter [we had for dessert actually]. The owner Cody came by and was very gracious. Will definitely be back

After watching the Lady Aggies defeat the SC Gamecocks to become the SEC Basketball Champs we stopped by Gate 12 for a celebratory late lunch. Our waiter, Jacob, was top-notch & the food was delicious. We highly recommend the shrimp & grits, crab cakes & oysters. An added highlight was seeing 2 ospreys takeoff on the runway as well as the Gamecocks charter flight head back to SC. All in all a very enjoyable dining experience!!

I took my boss there telling him how wonderful the new restaurant must be. I was disappointed, we had the chicken fried steak, two vegetables (mashed potatoes and green beans), no choice. The scenery was good however it was so noisy that we could not talk business. I have had much better meals in a quitter environment, at a more reasonable price at other College Station restaurants. Sorry but I do not plan to go back.
