Visited twice during our stay in the area. Quality food and good service by staff. The Eton Mess dessert was the best we have tasted. Would highly recommend.
During our recent annual championship tour our party of 20 golfers had the privilege of dining at the 'Ducks' and were not disappointed. The meals, especially the steaks, were very enjoyable. Malcolm and the 'Ducks' team were very welcoming and friendly. All things considered we...will definitely include the 'Ducks' when we return to East Lothian. Highly recommended.More
Just moved into the area and thought we'd check out the Ducks ! Nice restaurant, staff and service. We asked for 2 glasses of wine, Rioja which were very nice but at £10 each, felt they were over priced ! Likewise bread with our starter,...2 small swirls of bread, £3.50 was excessive. No problem with the starters or mains but if we had known we could have bought a bottle at £20/25. Possible our fault but it just gave us a slight negative attitude to a otherwise nice lunch.More
Terrible management, this is my first (and hopefully only) TripAdvisor review; food was burned, other courses withered and staff seemed disinterested. Complained to the owner and received abuse. Go to the Old Clubhouse in Gullane instead.More
This vist happened 10 to 14 years ago. Ross Boyce Mr Boyce visited the restaurant between 10 and 14 years ago and was not happy with his experience. This is the visit he is still writing about. I was in Dublin at the time I...More
Stopped in here whilst our sightseeing - Sunday lunch, table available (no problem) and the service was exceptional. My food was wonderful - I had the chicken with tomato & mozzarella.. Hubby had the burger and thought it was just 'ok'. The chips were lovely...😊 Such a shame that this place isn't busier as it needs and deserves to be.. My only real fault - the music was a touch loud for me.More
Was looking for a country pub on our return from Edinburgh to Newcastle. This looked just like we were looking for but was very surprised by a fancy restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very nice and average priced.
Just a fantastic place! The food, wine, atmosphere and most of all the service is terrific & value for money. Congratulations to Malcolm Duck and his team. I am also incredibly grateful that my family were taken back to Gullane. Service on a level I’ve...not seen in UK! After the meal in the dining room, my friend & I enjoyed a drink which was highly entertaining.More
My wife and I hadn't been here for a while even before lockdown so we were looking forward to coming back. So nice to have brunch with a bit of sun in the garden to the rear. My full Scottish breakfast was really tasty and...made from good quality ingredients. My wife had her first omelette Arnold Bennett which she really enjoyed. Service was very friendly and polite and we're already thinking to come back soon for brunch again or a little later for lunch. There's plenty of room inside too if the weather isn't great but also lots of tables at the back and more round the front. Good value for quality food.More
Had a great meal here with our friends. Nothing was an effort. The staff were brilliant, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Kept an eye on our glasses and kept topping them up. And the food was wonderful. We all had different and every meal was spot...on. Well done all.More
Great for family and friends - excellent food. Owner and his wife are very good with customers. Been dining here for many years and glad to return.
Thanks for leaving a lovely review and for all the support you give us. it s always great to see you. Malcolm
This is a nice place. The staff were brilliant. The food was tasty although my burger was too small. Nice little bar too for drinks before and after the meal.
Thank you for taking he time to write a review and for giving feed back, we will look at the burger size. The bar is cosy and I'm glad you enjoyed the staffs' service. Malcolm
Our first meal at Ducks since it reopened. The food and service are as good as ever. There are three menus to choose from at lunchtime so we were spoilt for choice.
I am very glad you seemed to like the new menus, the Brunch menu seems especially popular. We ae very glad to be back open, thanks for coming back and leaving such a positive review. Malcolm
We made a reservation on the day but we needn’t have done as we were the only diners there. Undeterred, we ordered our food and drinks and were well looked after by a positive and cheerful server. The restaurant was rather draughty due to COVID...rules that require a good air flow in such establishments. We had the smoked salmon starter and the Caesar salad followed by grilled cod and the chicken. The orange cake dessert was our choice and pleasantly ended a very well presented meal.More
Thanks for your feed back and taking the time to leave a review. COVID does bring its challenges. We have completely revamped the restaurant during the second lock down and now its summer the breeze is a little warmer. Malcolm
After a lovely walk in Gullane we were delighted to find parking and a table for 6 outside at this popular restaurant. That limited our choice to a degree, to sharing platters or boxed meals. We all chose the latter: burgers, fish’n’ chips and fish...cake. All were very enjoyable, and I am likely to revisit to try the restaurant proper. Service was a bit spotty and slow, perhaps because we chose the courtyard. A good experienceMore
Thanks for taking the time to post your feedback. We have a young team who are improving daily, the new technology is challenging for customers and staff alike. Im glad you seem to have enjoyed your visit and I hope we see you soon. Malcolm
