We stopped to pick up apples at the end of our TN road trip. It was one of 2 orchards we stopped at and I wish we would have come hear first. Their prices were very fair with a large variety of products and apples. We ended up eating dinner which was pretty good - pricing was fair for what you got. There menu was entirely country home-style cooking meal options...so no loss for fried food, butter and dressings. Overall, a good experience.

The products we found in the market area were more than what we expected. There was a little of everything we could have asked for. But when we asked questions concerning some of the merchandise the one lady at the register, who was also attending to other task around the store, didn’t appear to be very friendly. We are visiting in the area, and this is the first establishment that we have visited that the staff was not overly friendly. We weren’t sure if she was over worked, or just having a tough day. But when we went into the area to get our fried apple pie, those folks were very friendly. Our experience with the lady on the register felt like “Strictly Business”.

We were looking for a lunch spot out of Gatlinburg a bit, and discovered this place based on other Trip Advisor reviews. Did not disappoint!
The chicken and dumplings were outstanding, so much chicken and excellent flavor! My wife had chicken pot pie which was great. They brought us rols which were warm and very tasty. The fried apples just melted in your mouth, and we both had apple cider too. It was excellent! Worth a stop!

Our server appeared to be around 14 years of age and was not very attentive to our table. She didn't offer to refill our water glasses and openly ate her lunch in the dining room while we waited for our food. I can't speak for the others as we ate a variety of offerings but my catfish was over cooked to the point of being hard to cut. The cole slaw was good but in a small portion. The dessert cake was dry and tasted like leftover wedding cake.

I have read good things about Carvers Orchard and Applehouse Restaurant and was looking forward to trying it because I love everything apple. My husband and I had lunch there today and I was so disappointed. They do not offer apple fritters and apple butter like I’ve read. They offer them for purchase. I had the Apple Butter BBQ pork sandwich and the pork was so overcooked it was almost mush. My husband had the 6oz hamburger which was nothing special at all…a bun, a patty, bits of lettuce and tomato. You had to lift the top bun to even see that lettuce and tomato were on it. We both had a fried pie. Which are made with applesauce and no apple slices. My husband liked it, but me not so much. I love apples and when I order a fried apple pie, I want apples not applesauce. We asked for vanilla ice cream and the waitress brought moose tracks and butter pecan. We were told they have vanilla , but no one wants to go get it from the freezer. Susan, our waitress was very rude and almost seem to be bothered by us wanting to order. After our meal we decided to try produce market and we did buy some beautiful apples and other produce. Although I do like the produce market and they have a beautiful setting with mountains and the orchards, I would not recommend the restaurant nor would plan to go back. Just not worth it. I like to spend my hard earned money with people who appreciate it and me.

Typically my husband and I love Carvers and the overall atmosphere. We have visited many times but sadly some things need to be revisited, refreshed and restored. First I will list the good: Beautiful location and downhome feel. The orchard is calming to the soul and reminds one of simple days. The apple pie is delicious. Nice offering of canned goods, fruits and vegetables , butter , jams and jellies , honey and ciders. The candy house appeals to the nostalgic sweet tooth and their restaurant serves the best catfish that I have ever eaten. The Not So Good: Visibly old shriveled fruit, (perhaps attracting more fruit flies) is being sold. The apple “hand pies” consist mostly of applesauce, no apple chunks. Regarding the restaurant: Very costly BLT served on “child sized” bread and the fries were rationed into a tiny bowl that typically holds creamer and butter. A side of french fries counts as two sides when ordering the catfish meal. Now to the raved about apple fritters; I believe that the recipe has changed. The first time I had eaten the fritters they tasted like home made, (from scratch) cake donuts. They are now very sweet and the density reminds me of a cake mix. I am not a fan. The restaurant is clean and the staff are pleasant. The decor could use some attentiveness. My opinion: Please do not get so comfortable with locality and tourism that the Orchard is not revisited, refreshed and restored with open eyes.

Visited Carver’s Orchard today. Found the entire place disappointing. Apple house was crowded and dirty. Employees VERY unhelpful. When we tried to ask the cashier about a special kind of apples, her reply was, “ I don’t work on the floor so I don’t know.” Continued ringing up — no “thank you,” or “let me ask someone.” Merchandise was poorly stocked and this was just before noon. Restaurant was closed — no explanation. No fritters or apple pies visibly available and no one to ask. Drove from Upstate SC just for this. All apples were small with multiple bee stings. We will stick with our wonderful Western North Carolina orchards from now on.
Update your website/Facebook on when your restaurant is open and when not. VERY important!!!!!

The hostess acted like she didn’t want to be there no smile nothing didn’t care if you was there or not. We got seated ordered drinks. Then placed our order it came out of the kitchen in 3 minutes yes I timed it. Wife got chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, green beans. The chicken was good potatoes had a weird taste and green beans okay. I had 4 pc fried chicken and you could tell it was reheated old chicken cause my wife’s tenders was golden brown mine was a burnt looking dark brown. It was ok tasting, potatoes as before tasted weird and I ordered fried apples and they served baked cinnamon apples. As we was almost don the waitress brings out 2 PCs of cake sets it on our table as I’m eating and says it’s only 1.25 more hope you don’t mind and walks away. Kinda pissed me off but it looked so I ate it since it tasted better than the apples and potatoes that we left. Then checking out the hostess didn’t ask how anything was etc. Our bill was 30.18 asked if we had 18 cents so my wife dug in her purse barely found couple dimes to make the lady happy. All awhile people in line waiting to pay. Then the cash register opens she had the till full of change. I guess she can’t count coins Bless her heart. This was our first visit and our last

A fall trip here is a beautiful drive and worth it. This is the only place to eat Fried Chicken in the area. I highly recommend it. The salad is more "diner" salad but you really can not get that home cooking fried chicken at the fancy salad places. This is a must on your travel plans. Don't forget to try the apple fritters, and biscuits with apple butter, too!

The restaurant was a very nice off the beaten path restaurant also applebutter and fruit and cider can be purchased there. Me and my husband ate there twice. The waitress was very nice. The chicken and dumplings is some of the best i have ever had. The next meal we ate there was Turkey and dressing and was not as impressed. It was the special of the day with cake that went along with the meal that was verily bigger than a saltine cracker. Not hardly any gravy over the Turkey. Friendly waitresses and clean restaurant and prices were not to bad but would only recommend the chicken and dumplings.

Took a day trip to Carver's for lunch. Husband order fried chicken which was delicious. I ordered a chef salad that was way overpriced for nothing more than a large bowl of iceberg lettuce (mostly the white core part of lettuce ) with a handful of diced ham from a bag, bagged shredded cheese and bacon bits.and what tasted like bottled blue cheese dressing.
Apple fritters are the reason we drive up several times a year...seems like in years past they were fried when ordered.
Today's appear to have been kept warm under heat lamp.
Would go back for the fried chicken.

We arrived shortly after they were about to open and there was a long line already formed. Let me just say everything was delicious. We ordered the chicken and dumplings and they were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Beautiful atmosphere overlooking an apple orchard. Super friendly servers too. Love the fried pies and the sugar free version was great too. Awesome candy store and vegetables stand located on the same property. Can’t wait to return!

Amazing southern comfort food as well as healthy options...but who wants to be healthy when they offer options like apple fritters with fresh homemade apple butter and the most amazing homemade honey mustard that is dynamite on everything!! Even better they sell the apple butter, honey mustard and many other canned and fresh goods next door to the restaurant in a cute little market shop. We went home with apple butter and honey mustard to last us a while! Don’t miss this cute little place for some delicious food!

Just passing through town and saw this place and decided to stop. My friends meal was delicious, and I got a hamburger and it was good. The apple butter that came with the hush puppies were so good and it’s sold at the store next to the restaurant. Did some shopping at the market in the little candy store. Nice service.

Up the East Parkway, about 12 miles from Gatlinburg is the community of Cosby. We found this pleasant Restuarant, Carver's Orchard and Applehouse on a Sunday Afternoon. We stopped for lunch. They had regular fare and a Lunch special. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is very much a country place. The staff was pleasant and the young woman who was our server had a nice greeting and smile. I ordered the Fried Catfish and sides of Fried Apples and Creamy Cole Slaw. My wife had the Turkey Special, and it came with Mashed Potato and Fried Apples. We also sampled some Apple Fritters with Apple Butter. We had good portions of everything and both of us felt our food was very good. I would say that if you want a bit of a relaxed ride, and don't mind leaving the hustle and bustle and traffic of Gatlinburg, head up the East Parkway and look for this nice place.
