savory, authentic homemade pastas on a cold winter night!

you should know - this is where the locals go. yes, to a hotel restaurant! because the food is always fresh, beautifully prepared and they have wonderful specials to keep us coming back. I just celebrated my birthday there with 10 friends and our dinner was sensational. we took advantage of the 2 for 1 homemade pasta specials (sun thru thurs) along with kale and caesar salads and fresh out of the oven homemade focaccia with dipping oils. each pasta dish was cooked perfectly and the sauces divine. i think the head chef once owned a little italian ristorante in the gorge before my time. if riverside restaurant wasn't inside the best western, you would feel as though you were dining at an intimate sidewalk italian cafe in NYC. The service was attentive and warm and i was presented a hand folded pie of baked blueberries with balsamic drizzle and vanilla ice cream along with a song by the staff. what a wonderful juxtaposition of feeling so at home and cozy in a big hotel dining room and being fed such nourishing and delicious food. if you are traveling and staying at the BW, eat there! along with the complimentary breakfast, they have a robust happy hour and lovely views, right on the river. thank you BW; we are fortunate to have you in our backyard.

Excellent 2 for 1 pasta dishes

Riverside was suggested by our concierge and they have a 2 for 1 pasta special on certain nights. The dishes tasted great. I would probably pass on the gnocchi dishes. My mother-in-law's gnocchi was overcooked but everything else is tasty. Nice river views but they will not be scene in the night. It is within a Best Western Premier.

I found the Riverside restaurant to be a very nice atmosphere, great service by the wait staff, friendly greeting by the host as we first arrived at the restaurant. We were there for a 3-day conference and at the Riverside three times. Each time was a pleasant dining experience for both breakfast and dinner. I would eat there again if I am traveling in the area even if I am not staying at the Hood River Inn as I was for this conference. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good food served in an inviting atmosphere and with a pleasant wait staff. They also have gluten-free options which is nice for those who are in need of gluten-free food.

The food was ok, I wouldn’t go back for the price. The service was pleasant but for 24.00 plus a plate you would think they would clear your plate before serving the dessert without being asked. Also when we asked to have the To Go boxes, they dropped them off and we had to ‘shovel’ the food in ourselves. Perhaps this is the NEW NORMAL for good service but I wasn’t impressed. On another note that is positive, the waiting time was not bad and the front desk as well as the servers were really pleasant people, just not interested in making ‘Service’ a priority.

We have been to this place many times now. It started off very good with their summer salmon specials but it has gotten progressively worse since. This time was the last straw. I ordered the short ribs, as I often do, with a side of carbonara. I received what they considered carbonara which actually contained cream and presented like a lame attempt at an alfredo that just happened to have pancetta in it as well. The worst part is that they had cooked the hell out of it then turned it into a plate full of grease and lumps of cheese. To add insult to injury it had an abusive amount of garlic in it. I sent it back not mentioning anything but the broken sauce. I then received the exact same Trainwreck, minus the pancetta and minus the garlic. I just pushed this one away away and wouldn't even allow them to box it up to take home to my dog. This is absolutely inexcusable considering this place call itself an Italian restaurant. If you can't get your posture right then just change the theme of your restaurant for something that you actually can do well What really torqued me off was they put the entree in front of me. Tillis time I received "a" short rib, not ribs (plural) as the menu stated. The real insult was his that these Jokers tried to pass off chuck roast in place of short ribs. Yes, you heard correctly, pot roast. Now, I understand trying to save a few bucks because of this covid-19 thing but, trying to pass off a cut of beef that cost half what the customer is paying for deplorable and just plain illegal. When I brought this to their attention, the waitress said she asked the chef and he downright lied and said that it was short ribs. I have 40 years in The Culinary industry and know a short rib when I see one. I have ordered short ribs at this restaurant on numerous occasions and what I received this time was nothing like those. I don't think I will ever make the 3hr drive to visit this restaurant again unless I am informed that they have hired an honest and competent chef. This is sad because it is a beautiful location and the service is very good. Kudos Sierra! Unfortunately, there really are not a whole lot of other choices in this area Two stars for beautiful venue and and good service

Everyone is having a problem dealing with the pandemic

We went to Riverside last evening looking for an enjoyable dinner together. You can see my previous reviews and note we have had very pleasant experiences. This was a disappointment. We tried to make a reservation earlier and were informed they did not take them at this time. We assume because of pandemic concerns. We were advised we would not have to wait long as Thursday evenings were generally low attendance and quick seating. Great! On arrival we provided the hostess our name and number and received the customary "15 minutes" wait estimate. A constant string of people came in and several gave their name and appeared to have "reservations". This seemed rather odd. After 25 minutes we were led to our table outside and given two substitute menus. Instead of the dinner options we customarily experience, it was "Indian Pop-Up" night. None of these options appealed to us or resembled Riverside's traditional fare. The staff offered no explanation and seemed blissfully unconcerned. Since this is a departure from their norm, it would have been nice for this to have been more obvious. We were so accustomed to selecting from a familiar array of excellent dishes, we did not think to check beforehand. This was our fault, and a lesson to us if we decide to return. Three Rivers Grill became our destination and we had a wonderful, familiar meal.

We can understand your disappointment, but rest assured other nights feature our regular menu. The food was vile.

It was my birthday. The waiter was very nice. The food was vile. When my husband was served his reuben sandwich, I nearly fell off my chair. It was repellent, with a huge side of fries, Dear gawd, When I received my fish tacos, I was reduced to helpless giggles. Go to any taco trailer. Get a five gallon bucket of taco filling, and you would have something MUCH better than what this woo-woo restaurant served. It was my birthday and I was overcome with giggles. The White Russian cocktails were entirely satisfactory. The giggles were entirely satisfactory. The pear dessert thing was...okay. I enjoyed my absurd birthday,

Great value and service

We came for the two for one Pasta AND happy hour which are available together on certain days. Things we appreciated: The cooks were accommodating with changes we made to our meals. There was tartar sauce available to substitute for the spicy calamari dip. There were large portions on all the meals we tried. We liked the new and old vegetarian options on the menu. Claire did a great job serving us. Her timing was excellent.

Accommodating to families

For three families and total 6 kids between us, we received very good attentive service by our server at two different tables (up to 6 people per table requirement) I had the Chiopino soup and my husband the Crispy Trout, both very good and of quality. We were seated outside and the ambiance was lovely with a view of the river. I will definitely be back.

There was a 20 minute wait on a Saturday night, so that wasn’t too long. The person recording names forgot to note that we needed a table that would seat a wheelchair, so there was an awkward moment when it was our turn for a table. The food took a while but worth the wait. I ordered the cod fish & chips & the cod pieces were amazing- large and flaky and perfectly cooked. After the meal was another awkward moment when the only handicap bathroom was not wheelchair accessible & we had to wheel across the very dark parking lot to a gas station restroom. I would eat here again, I just wouldn’t bring friends that need accessible restrooms.

Another Delicious Dinner Supporting a Local Beautiful Spot

Another Dinner supporting a local restaurant with delicious local cuisine! We only wanted to sit on their gorgeous riverside deck and we did. But they’ve added so much outside seating that we now had a wonderful choice of locations. My only complaint is their appetizers were very weak. Really none that remotely we found appetizing. But our locally sourced Beet salad with fresh pea shoots and excellent goat cheese was so good and beautifully presented we didn’t care about not eating an appetizer. We shared the prawn linguine dish that they divided into two separate bowls and it was so good and filling. A glass of Oregon Pinot Noir, and a beautiful evening made this a perfect spot to eat, staying safe, on the 4th of July!

Really, do they still do hospitality at this level anywhere else? I was totally impressed by the amazingly friendly, sweet, efficient staff at Riverside. The food was amazing ( Mushroom burger, and strawberry shortcake) and if you stay they give you a voucher for $5.00 off their breakfast which is crazy cheap for the quality.. You know, I love how those young waiters and hostesses even treated an irate guest with professionalism and kindness.. The view is amazing and they gave us an Etch-a- Sketch to play with while we waited! So fun!

Good Food, Service Needs Worked On

We are regulars here and get the same thing every time. The food has always been great but sometimes we get bread sometimes not, sometimes we get the sugar we ask for or the pepper, but more than not the server forgets. We still come back tho’ as the view is amazing.

Gorgeous View, Great Food, Friendly Service

Service, food, & view were all excellent. We enjoyed bacon-wrapped dates as a starter. For my meal, I had the Peach Burrata Cheese salad. At my server’s suggestion, I added chicken. The salad was amazing. So fresh & flavorful. The skinless chicken breast on the side was perfectly prepared. It was moist on the inside & slightly crisp on the outside. My spouse had cioppino & fully enjoyed it. The complimentary herbed bread served with oil & vinegar was delicious. We also liked the chocolate soft serve dessert, which you would never guess is vegan.

WOW! Location on river overlooking Hood bridge

From the second I walked into this restaurant I was greeted and in a few minutes placed on the rear patio overlooking Hood River Bridge which is also Washington state on the other side of the bridge. The outside patio heaters were perfect. Before your meal you get served bread with an oil vinegar mix dipping plate that is out of this world. They said that a guy that has worked there for 20 years makes it fresh every day. It’s there house bread. The meal I had was Penne vodka salmon with a dark and stormy drink. Sooooo GOOD! This place has everything going for it. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody in the area or traveling abroad.
