Fish and chip joy

Went for lunch to get fish and chips to eat on the beach. At first it didn’t look open as was dimly lit and we were expecting a traditional fryer with the counters of vats of hot oil. I guess they cook them in a kitchen out the back. Had to wait 15 mins but they were excellent; piping hot, delicious and a nice sized portion- we had small sized fish and chips. Scampi was also good. They forgot to put the cutlery in the bag which we discovered at the beach which was a pain. Tomato sauce comes in its own clear plastic container - maybe decanted from the catering sized jar - not Heinz but still good. The lady serving was a little gruff but was a lovely person as we overheard her offering to help a neighbour in need as we waited. Would definitely go back.

One of the best!

Spent a week staying a short walk away from Yarmouth and had a takeaway from here one evening. Opening times are currently Tue-Sat for a couple of hours in the afternoon from Midday and then in the evening (see my pic for details). Can’t say with any authority if this is the best chippie on the Island but we couldn’t fault what we had - freshly fried cod and chips, generous (non greasy) portions and reasonable prices were well worth the short wait to get served at this popular chippie.

Fabulous gluten free fish and chips

We treated ourselves for fish and chips before catching the Lymington ferry back to Yarmouth. The restaurant was just a few minutes walk away and we ate them sitting watching the boats, which was lovely. Anyone who needs gluten free options will probably know that it’s that simple to eat out, but The Blue Crab is now on my list of top fish and chip shops in the country! The batter was light and crispy and the chips were fresh and not greasy. We had cod and that too was extremely tasty and they also provided gluten free vinegar. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back if we come to the Isle of Wight again.

Too long to wait for food

Terrible. Ordered fish and fishcake twice and was told it would be 70 mins before it was ready. The place us NOT a fush and chip shop. It is an ex cafe that needs proper fush and chio warm counters etc. Didn't bother waiting as that us a stupidly ridiculous time to wait. Its not a 5 star restaurant, it bills itself as a fush and chip shop. Went to Totties instead. Lovely. Oh. Staff at tge Blue Crab look bored and miserable to boity!

Freshly cooked and well worth the wait

Freshly cooked fish and chips to order means that the food is piping hot yet still crisp, even once you get it home or to Yarmouth esplanade/green or onto the pier to eat it. Having just had my second takeaway from this establishment I can honestly say that even the small fish is of a decent size. They do a fantastic fish box for just £9. It consists of whitebait, 6 scampi, 3 large cod chunks and a fishcake. I have a larger than average appetite and the portions were more than enough even for me. 5 stars really doesn't do this place justice.

Great fish and chips takeaway

Great takeaway service. The fish box was lovely with a selection of scampi, cod bites, a fish cake and whitebait served with tartare sauce - £9. Good to share with chips if you Havnt a huge appetite. Although they offer gluten free batter for the fish and gluten free sausages, it would have been nice if there was just another couple of options.

BEST Fish N' Chips in Yarmouth, (great spot to sit at 200m on the right, with clear beach views!)

Absolute perfect ending to our Isle of Wight trip, before our evening ferry. We ordered each a the SMALL COD cod + small CHIPS, it was the perfect amount. The fish and chips was absolutely perfect, tender, fresh, well cooked, light batter and we ate all of it. The chips were some of the best I ever had. And no heartburn. At the moment only open for take aways, but you will find the perfect spot to eat it: as you come out of the chippy, turn left and walk straight (less than 5 minutes) and you will then come to a large patch of green grass with benches all along the coast with clear sea views on your left, not a busy smelly marina. Just peace and bliss! Thank you!

Best Fish & Chips on the Isle of Wight

Excellent fish and chips. My husband & I had a medium cod & tray of chips each to takeaway. Bag included wooden knife & fork, napkins, salt & vinegar sachets. Delicious fish and the batter was divine, not at all greasy or overly crunchy. The chips were perfect, not a bad one amongst them & we both ate them all (after an afternoon of cycling we were hungry). Neither of us could find fault with our meals - we shall be back for more, thank you!

Best crab sandwich EVER ❤

Was looking for a takeaway crab sandwich to finish our staycation off. We certainly found the best place here. Fully packed sandwiches wonderfully seasoned lovely fresh salad and thick crusty bread.

Quite simply the most delicious fish & chips I've had ! Freshly cooked (+ gluten-free batter option), succulent fish in crispy batter, tasty chips. Very good value. They give you a time to collect (order there or by phone) Thank you !

Highly recommend and caters for gluten free

Having researched on trip advisor for a fish and chip shop that catered for gluten free we were thrilled to find this little gem. We had half an hour to walk into Yarmouth to collect but pre ordered and as soon as we arrived our order was ready. Along with all condiments and knives and forks. Our meal was amazing. The best gluten free fish and chips I have eaten in along time, with home made tartare sauce. My husband said the same for his normal fish and chips. We ate them on the seafront on a chilly Saturday night but the quality made the last night of our holiday very memorable.

Closes at 8,but……..

On a quiet week night at 7.00pm we decided on fish and chips. Now,like alot of local businesses (not all) they seem to pick and choose custom. Weren’t answering their phone,tried several times. Walked down to be told they had stopped taking orders at 7.15pm even though they close at 8pm. The amount of times this has happened. If you can’t handle the orders get better equipment or more staff!!! And this is now off season. Don’t even think about it in the summer months.

We have had takeaway fish and chips twice now and We think the food is fabulous. The fish and chips aren’t greasy, the chips are tasty and the cod is perfectly cooked. I can’t really add anything more but this is now my go to takeaway 😊

Great take away fish and chips

I am not a great lover of fish and chips, but that is probably because I have not had them from here before. The fish was wonderfully fresh, and perfect cooked, as were the chips. What really surprised me was neither was at all greasy and the batter was so crisp with no sogginess. Highly recommend.

During Covid restrictions we ordered take away of 4x cod and chips. We went to the park to eat them only to find one of the four packets just had chips in it. On returning to complain we were met with a straight “No, l distinctly remember wrapping this order” despite there being a healthy queue for a good two hours. Really, you remember wrapping this specific order from all the others? Very poor customer service if you can’t admit a mistake and put it right! Make sure you check your order before leaving
