Our normal Chinese take out was closed, so we opted for Red Dragon. We were encouraged by the part of town, and the crowd. We figured it would be really good, and maybe become our normal take out. We even over looked the fact that...take out was not ready in 20, it took 45 minutes. Then we ate. Yuk. The two entrees were awful...Mongolian Beef and Shrimp broc. Sauces were water, like they just ran hot water into the take out carton. No flavor whatsoever. Not particularly fresh. Soup, in fairness, was good, but that was the only redeeming item. I've no idea why they get good reviews or had a crowd. We'll not be back.More

It's so hard to find good Chinese food in the Triangle and Red Dragon is no exception. We live very close to this place so will get taken out on occasion. The dishes are ok but not very flavorful or well executed.

Always a great place to go, either for lunch or dinner. Sweet and Sour chicken is some of the best around, crispy and cooked perfect, Shrimp with Lobster sauce was so so good and plentiful, so much I had leftovers. Red Dragon is a small...restaurant so if you go during a peak time you will have to wait.More

I feel like most take-out Chinese I get in the Triangle has sauce that is very thick and cloyingly sweet. I ordered the beef with broccoli and wonton soup from Red Dragon and it was perfect - just like I remember from New York/New Jersey....Broccoli was cooked perfectly (not overdone) and the sauce was savory and light. I had take-out.More

Today it SNOWED so much that the humans could not drive out in their cars to buy food. So they put us in their pockets and walked to restaurants! First they went to the Point but it was so crowded the hostess said we would...have to wait TWO HOURS! Then they went to Hayes Barton, Nofo @ the Pig, and Lilly's Pizza, but all of those restaurants had closed because of the snow! So then they walked even farther and arrived at the RED DRAGON and it was OPEN! Hooray!!! And furthermore, there wasn't any wait. A nice waitress seated us all right away in a cozy little booth. The only downside was that the waitress took away the humans' snowy coats and hung them up on a coat rack in the hallway. The humans thought this was very considerate, but WE were in the pockets of the coats and this meant we could not see the restaurant until the humans came to fetch their wallets! Aside from this problem, we enjoyed the RED DRAGON very much. The plates had a very pretty pattern and we enjoyed the music and the atmosphere. All of the diners were happy to have faced the slippery, cold, outside world in order to eat delicious food in a warm restaurant.More

I wanted it to be amazing. I have looked high and low for the best Chinese in Raleigh. I'm still looking. My go-to is Veg Mei Fun. They didn't have that. I didn't really see anything on the menu that enticed my vegetarian self so...I asked if I could get Sesame Tofu. They were happy to oblige. It wasn't horrible or even bad. It just wasn't great. There were barely any sesame seeds and the sauce was pretty thin. The spring rolls were really good, though. Not worth visiting again. Still on the hunt for that perfect Chinese spot...More

Looking for quick takeout dinner to keep the kitchen clean for the Thanksgiving madness. Ordered hot and sour, and corn with mashed chicken soups, spring rolls, teriyaki strips appetizers and chicken with cashews dinner. Everything was quite flavorful and properly cooked. Corn with chicken soup...was especially tasty, while the teriyaki strips were a little tough and chewy. Looked around the interior, small and cozy, several booths and a few tables all occupied. Would like to return for dine-in experience.More

This may very well be the best Chinese restaurant in Raleigh. We dine here every month or so. The food is always very good. The service is also good. Food is served hot and with flair. You can get carry-out if you wish. For dining...in, there is easy parking on the restaurant's private lot.More

I don't know what all the fuss is about this place. My wife and I ate there for the first time last weekend. We got takeout Sunday night and it was just OK. I had heard friends say that Red Dragon was great but I...was underwhelmed. She had chicken and broccoli and I had their version of Happy Family (shrimp, beef, chicken and veggies). It was all just so-so. To make it worse, I ordered egg drop soup and they gave me won ton. We did get a lot of food though; more than one person could eat. I won't go back, there are too many restaurant options in Raleigh to waste money on Chinese food that rates with something you could buy in a supermarket frozen food section.More
