We were referred here by a friend, so we had high expectations. My wife ordered fettuccini Alfredo and I ordered lobster ravioli because it was the days special. The Alfredo didn’t have much taste, the ravioli was average. Our meal totaled $60, with one soda....Not sure it was worth that, the worst part was the water was an older Hispanic man and he was really flirtatious to my wife. We both noticed it and after we left she told me how uncomfortable she was with it. I’m not sure if he was part of the waitstaff or manager or what, but it was not cool. We won’t be back!!More

Wanted to try their pizza since we were in the area. We ordered a large New Yorker and asked for it to be well done with extra sauce. They got both requests right and the pizza and service from our waiter were the highlights. Pizza...was crisp, slightly chewy, in a good way, and very flavorful. What is with the girl at the front podium though? Did not catch her name and not sure how often she's there but she seemed immediately annoyed at our presence when we walked in. She ooked at us and then ignored us. I had to walk right up, stand in front of her, smile and say "Hello, how are you today? We'd like a table for 2, please". Still nothing. The gentleman, who turned out to be our waiter greeted us, she huffed, said something to him in what sounded like Spanish, and he seated us. I watched as people kept coming in for take-out and eat-in and saw her reaction all the while wondering why they put this person with that kind of personality at the front door. Very odd. Maybe she was having an off day? Aside from that encounter, we will go back to try other items.More

They need to take their Veal Saltimbocca off the menu. Veal was gummy and had absolutely no flavor. Plus you needed a magnifying glass to find the prosciutto. The vegetables were so overcooked and mushy that you couldn't pick them up with a fork. The...roasted potatoes - about 4-5, small as a dime and overcooked too. Yuck! All for the bargain price of $23.95.More

This is a copy of an email that I sent to the owner on October 12, 2021. I have never received a reply; hence, I am posting it as a review. My husband and I have had dinner at both of your locations several times,...and we have attended three of your wine dinners. We have always had a terrific experience. We were really glad to see that you are scheduling the wine dinners again, and invited another couple to join us on October 6th. Unfortunately, we were all very disappointed. We arrived early at 6:45pm. We were seated immediately, then totally ignored until 7:20pm. Perhaps someone should have greeted us or asked if we wanted a cocktail. I know the distributor selects the wine, but these were truly awful. Worst of all, the wines were warm - including the whites wines. And who the heck serves a (warm) red sparkling wine with pasta and cream sauce???? The first three courses were delicious - especially the pasta. Then things went bad. The filet was tough, overcooked and swimming in so much sauce that the taste of the meat was indiscernible. And what restaurant would actually serve frozen crinkle cut carrots???? The flavor of the ricotta cheesecake was excellent; however, the texture was lumpy. I've had ricotta cheesecake before - and it should be smooth, light, and possibly creamy. None of our group of four took more than two bites. Adding salt to the wound, we have now realized that we double paid the tip. When we went to the register to pay, we were told $155 something per couple. We did not realize (nor were we told) that 20% tip had already been included. I admit that we should have caught this ourselves, but we didn't. Both couples added another 20% to the bill, making our total price $180 something per couple. We all fully realize that Covid has been incredibly difficult for the restaurant industry. I sincerely hope that this wine dinner is a isolated episode while your restaurant is recovering, because it certainly isn't representative of the excellent reputation that Vic's has established over its long, respected history.More

Terribly rude staff. If you have a problem with your order don’t expect friendly service at all. I don’t know why people come here.

We really enjoyed Vics. Great food, lots of menu options and great service! There is a nice outside seating area and the inside fits a lot of people but you don't feel like you are on top of the other tables. The bread is delicious,...the apps and entrees were hearty and well made. And the desserts were amazing. Highly recommend this little gem.More

I called to make reservations and the hostess ask me for my number. I proceeded to give her the number and she spoke to someone else over top of me as I was giving her the number. Only to ask me for the number a...second time. She then speaks to someone else over top of me giving her the number a second time. She then ask for the last numbers as she didn't get it, and speaks over top of me again. I'm sorry, three times is a charm. This rude behavior pissed me off. I ask her to stop talking and I'll give you the number. She for some reason seems to be the offended one and bluntly cuts me off and says she has the reservation and hangs up. Total lack of courtesy and respect I don't care how busy you are. Focus on the phone and the person on the other end.More

We have heard about Vic's for years, and we finally stopped in for lunch on Thursday. We were not disappointed, as it definitely lived up to its reputation!! We had the Soup of the Day (Spinach and Sausage), the Vitello Parmigiana, and a slice of...Pepperoni and Mushroom pizza, and everything was absolutely delicious! The pizza was so good, that we ordered a New Yorker pizza to bring home with us! Vic's is definitely worth the trip downtown! We loved it, and we will be back! We are looking forward to trying the Lake Boone location as well!More

I am a pasta lover. My favorite is puttanesca. I have tried others, equally great. Had to try something different. Tried the pizza, crust was amazing. Cozy atmosphere. Last time I was there a lady was singing to herself in Italian. I asked her what...she was singing. She said it was a song that her mother used to sing to her. Turns out she was the owner.More

A favorite of my daughter's, so we decided to give it a try during a recent visit. It's very good pizza. Good crust, good sauce, and plenty of ingredients. We went with the Chicagoan pizza, which was a big hit. Looking forward to a future...visit, when we can try the pasta.More

The food was sub par, calamari app was sparse and so salty! I can make a better Capresi in my own kitchen and have! The waiter was this little arrogant man with tattoos. My friend ordered a meal that had no flavor, she told him,...he said she wasn’t eating it right and proceeded to grab her silverware and mix it. Still tastes like nothing (she didn’t eat it and It was on the bill). Then came the crazy hand written check at the end! We asked for an itemized bill, got attitude from the little man, was given itemized bill with just numbers. He added a 20% tip and tried to sneak it past us. In this day and age of places closing down daily they should really be aware of what customer service entails and live up to it! Don’t waste your money. Crappy dessert as well!More

No, Vic’s on Blake Street does not have a bar. They do serve a good selection of wine which compliments their meals nicely.
