I had dinner at the bar and my server/bartender (Chad) was great. I had 3 apps, she crab soup, fried green tomatoes, and mussels. All were great. I will be back!

Whether you sit inside or out, the meal's great. Good atmosphere, bartender does a good job with the drinks, and the food is always delicious. Definitely a go-to date place.

Disappointing pickup order. We returned to Raleigh for a visit and decided to get takeout from our former go-to place. Crab cakes were smaller, less crab flavor. Parmesan creamed corn was frozen corn, some form of cream poured on, no evidence of any Parmesan. Brussels...sprouts ok, and Southern Caesar only ok. What happened?More

Being that this place is #8 on the list of restaurants for Raleigh I had high hopes for our visit, I was tremendously disappointed. It’s tucked into a strip mall/shopping center of sorts. We went in for dinner the crowd is definitely older 40s dinner/happy...hour type if you’re looking for a younger more in touch vibe this is NOT the place to go. Our server was very nice a greeted us almost immediately after we were seated. I ordered a Jack & Coke with a splash of grenadine the whole drink was red in color when she brought it back I took two sips and was done with it. My boyfriend ordered the Salmon Risotto cooked medium. He only ate the risotto and only hate one bite of the salmon. That’s not to say the risotto was a winner either. I had the Seafood Grits and this was what I thought would be a safer choice I was WRONG. To start I noticed a lot of sauce/cream in the bottom of the dish and when I tasted the first bite I understood why, the grits we completely undercooked an awful mouth feel. They were also supposed to be pepper jack cheese grits I never got a hint of that. The scallops and shrimp were tough and not properly seasoned. The type of mushroom used could have been a different choice. The dish had too many components that did not pair well. In what world would you sprinkle blue cheese and maple bacon into pepper jack cheese grits. If you like undercooked and bland food this is definitely the perfect place to waste a few bucks.More

Having read the reviews on TripAdvisor about this restaurant, I have decided to book this restaurant for a family dinner during a Raleigh visit. Once we arrived the Hostess was not friendly, however our waiter did a fair job! The food was good, however there...were a few mishaps. As a family were ordered the Salmon & Risotto (which was good), Braised Beef Short Ribs (which was OK), Parmesan Chicken (which was good) and the Tuna (which was also good). There was a special that day which was a shrimp bisque; this was the BEST dish we had. While all the food was OK this was the best. Having travelled extensively and being a :foodie" the reviews are probably a little over the top. This restaurant is good, with a nice ambiance. We would visit Glenwood Grill again.More

The service was also excellent - Jonathan. I started with the chopped wedge salad and it was just as expected. Very tasty. I liked that the wedge was already cut up for me because I do tend to struggle with a quarter of an iceberg...head getting it cut up to eat. My husband had the pork belly which was to die for. Our entrees were the mahi-mahi and the swordfish and both were outstanding. Looking forward to a return visit!More

We are major foodies and the reviews for GG are very strong. So we looked forward to trying another spot (we are not native North Carolinians - we are traveling from FL). We will not return even though they tried to make amends after we...politely mentioned meals were underwhelming and tasteless. So bonus points for comping a meal and offering us a free dessert. We waited 20-minutes for a server to acknowledge us. Server was in the weeds, which is understandable, but several others walked by us and never asked if we needed anything. Business card version - food was bland and tasteless, service was mediocre, and for the price we should not have had to wait until we had partially finished our meal (we could not eat more bc it was tasteless). Such a waste of food. This looks like it might be a neighborhood spot. Maybe they have a faithful following but if you are looking for a restaurant for a Monday night (not many places open in Raleigh on Mondays) I would urge you to look elsewhere. Two stars to give bc management did comp the burger and offered free dessert (which we declined).More

We moved from the Raleigh area some 15 years ago. The Glenwood Grill was our favorite RTP restaurant back then, so we were curious to see if it had changed on a return visit to the area. Our party had the 8 oz. filet mignon,...the beef short ribs, and the rack of lamb, as well as the she crab soup. All found their meals good sized, high quality, and perfectly prepared, well worth the price. The service was also as good as ever, and the restaurant was as lively as we remembered - a festive atmosphere.More

On Saturday, February 27th, myself, my son and my wife came to Glenwood Grill for my birthday dinner. Two days before on February 25th, my wife had called ahead to make a reservation for three. She made a 5:30 reservation over the phone, specified that...it was for a birthday, and we arrived on time the day of the reservation. At first, it seemed that the man working at the front counter could not find our reservation, as he fumbled for a good half a minute before leading us to a table (and never actually confirmed if he had found our reservation or not). We had not been sitting down for two minutes when a blonde woman came over to us and claimed that she “always hated having to do this”, but that we needed to be out of the restaurant in 90 minutes. We found this a little strange as we were not told this beforehand over the phone, but did not raise any objections. Out of curiosity, my son and I listened carefully to hear if any of the three or four parties that arrived after us were told of this time limit. Not a single other party was told of this. When it came time for our check to arrive, my wife mentioned to our waitress that it was a birthday dinner and that she would be handling the check, not my son or I. Our waitress was clearly surprised and did not know ahead of time that it was a birthday dinner, and she soon tried to compensate by offering free dessert for the ride home. We declined. The food was good + our waitress was kind and attentive and we do not hold anything against her, but a combination of the difficulty the staff had finding our reservation, the abrupt time limit we were given to eat and the fact that no one else received said time limit soured the mood of the meal. I would advise the restaurant to be transparent with its customers beforehand where reservations are concerned, as being ushered out with no prior notice put a damper on the evening. We were return customers to Glenwood Grill and this did not make a good impression.More

Really good meal outside under a tent. There were heaters around the tables to keep us warm. Southern food with a local touch.
