We loved our dinner at this restaurant, which has a pleasing modern atmosphere. We had the recommended duck rillettes and truffled crostini appetizer which was delightful. I had meatloaf with cheddared potato gratin, pickled red cabbage and onion and bourbon bacon-jam which was absolutely delicious....My wife loved the pan seared trout with cheddar grit cake, and cider-braised collard greens. For dessert, we had the best sticky toffee pudding (with caramel brittle) ever. We highly recommend this bistro and can’t wait to return.More

Bloomsbury, now under new ownership, did not disappoint. From delicious tortellini for an appetizer to the most tender pork chop I have ever eaten to the desserts, everything was fabulous. The service was also on point. They really made the evening special. While it is...white able cloth and fine dining, I thought the price points were much more reasonable with more original dishes than the chain steak houses. If it has been a while since you have been to Bloomsbury, give it another try.More

After trying to book a reservation at one of the higher rated restaurants in Raleigh but failing to do so, a friend and I tried Bloomsbury Bistro. I now understand the reason for its lackluster reviews. The appetizers and the desserts are much more tasty...than the over-priced entrees. I (and a nearby table of young men) had the duck, while my friend had the chicken main course. The duck was overcooked and overly seasoned on a streak of very garlicky sauce. There was a paltry portion of oven-roasted vegetables on the side. My friend's chicken boasted five-spice powder and, once again, a puny amount of vegetables. Given the quality and quantity of the food, I would have probably expected to pay 1/2 the charged amount ($25). In the restaurant's favor, however, is that it is relatively quiet and it was easy to have a conversation with your dining partner. The service staff was also very friendly and accomodating. Next time I dine in Raleigh, I will book a higher-rated restaurant much earlier in the week!More

Reservation for a group of 6! Quaint tables with nice linens, European flare and relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for a nice dinner with friends and conversation. Portions are perfect size, presentation is nice, and flavors were delish. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. You get...what you pay for. This ain't chain food.More

Great neighborhood to drive into, especially during the holidays. The four of us were warmly greeted at the entrance and seated quickly. Our chairs and table was comfortable and allowed us to have conversations all evening. The waiter made an effort to make us feel...welcomed and gave us insight to the menu and our choices for drinks, appetizers, main meal and desserts. Everything was great. The food was plentiful and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and left with a full stomach and a want to return.More

I came with one of my friends, we're both foodies and have experienced great dining in Raleigh and globally. We're exploring the highest rated restaurants in the area. I was really looking forward to this visit but was very disappointed. I had this as a...starter: Roasted pumpkin stuffed tortelloni with sweet-n-sour Granny Smith apples, shaved Pecorino and sage brown butter $8.95 which lacked in flavor or spices. There was no detectable taste or hint of pumpkin. We ordered Colorado Lamb shank braised in spicy Madras curry with fingerling potatoes, garden peas, roasted tomato and paneer cheese $25.95 which again fell way below expectation. The room we were in lacked any kind of ambience or character.More

Absolutely fantastic on all levels. Had the salmon and the ratatouille along with salads and gazpacho. Tasty, hearty and bursting with flavor as well. Simply delicious. Great Bloody Mary’s and coffee to accompany impeccable service and a comforting, yet sophisticated ambiance. Highly recommended and will...be a regular go-to when in Raleigh. And leave room for dessert! You won't regret it.More

I made reservations for my 32nd wedding anniversary. We were seated at a very romantic curved couch in the corner, with cushions. You would never guess what a charming location this was from looking at it from the outside. So glad I gave it a...try. The food and service were phenomenal!More

This restaurant always delivers quality and service worth the price - and the cost is reasonable compared to others that offer similar or lesser quality for significantly higher prices. The food is interesting and well-prepared. We don't usually go to restaurants to get food we...could make ourselves, and Bloomsbury far exceeds that. There is always a vegetarian or seafood item if you prefer not to eat red meat. Portions are good sized - not huge, but not skimpy. The atmosphere is quiet and elegant, but not dark. Service is welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. We have thoroughly enjoyed every visit here.More

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant on Saturday night. There is ample parking near the restaurant and we were seated on time with a reservation. The service was very good. The food was very good. There is a variety of...items on a shortish menu. My wife had swordfish which she loved and I had a strip steak which was very good but not the best I have had. This is a high quality dining experience but not cheap. The room is tasteful and the noise level was low. A great spot for couples looking to have a special evening and tastefully prepared food.More

5 of us went there the night before Thanksgiving. We each ordered a different dish and each one was better than the next and we shared our dishes with one another. From scallops to chicken to steak. The waitress was terrific and we were in...a private room so there was no noise but ours. I would highly recommend you try this great restaurant if you live in Raleigh or if you're visiting. Ask your host to take you there. :)More
