Very slow service -- over an hour and still did not get our order. Appetizer (edamame) took nearly 20 minutes. It appears that they place priority on take out but the dining room was certainly not full (about 3/4). There were 3 wait staff members...and they certainly were NOT the hold up.More

This Asian restaurant serves Thai, Japanese and Chinese food. Decent atmosphere with lots of Halloween decorations. The owner loves Halloween. Had Shrimp Hibachi. The portion size was relatively high for the portion but it had excellent taste. It came with a salad and it was...better than average. The owner came by and asked how my food was. He is from Thailand. It's always a plus when you see the owner so involved. Service was friendly and had no problemsMore

HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant. Held a surprise birthday party for my husband with 32 people attending, Outstanding pre-planning, let us in early to decorate, had appetizers ready to set out on tables when guests were seated, efficient handling of getting entrees out, attentive to needs...for drinks, refills and clearing tables. Allowed us extra time to "toast" the guest of honor and mingle for conversation. Michael and Ange and the entire staff did an amazing job of making it easy for me and a pleasure for all of the guests. My husband was truly surprised and very pleased with the food and service!!! Would do this again for future events. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant. Oh, and we love to eat here with smaller groups, too!!More

We stopped by for dinner on a weeknight. There were 3 of us in our group, including a toddler. We ordered the chicken meal off of the kids' menu, an order of 3 vegetable spring rolls, kong pao tofu, and the vegetable medley with tofu...added. The food was pretty good all around. The price is about average for this type of restaurant. The only (small) issue was the service. Our waitress was not the friendliest, perhaps because she was so busy. Also, it took a long time for our food to reach us, again maybe for the same reason. We, overall, had a good time. And the owner did stop by to say hello, which was nice.More

We’ve had mixed experiences at this restaurant before. But the new owner was introducing himself to patrons as they were seated. The food was better than I remembered, good value for money, and the service (hit-or-miss in the past) was fast and friendly. We will...return.More

I once did love this place. As a chef we look for the simple ingredients when it comes to Thai cuisine but a flavor bomb in every bite. Order was simple Green Thai chix curry with extra eggplant.. Green salad with ginger dressing The curry...was one of the worse I ever tasted. The old place was so much better, granted service was always come and go, but im not after service, im after flavor. The new management better pick it up, a lot. I as of right now will not Order a thing from them for a long time. Green salad was rusty and not fresh, ginger dressing was good, but after i.picked out the rusty color/oxidation bits The eggplant was not of Chinese or Japanese eggplant, which contains less h20. This makes a difference and the sauces flavor struggled to sit right on the palate. Again, for what it cost and what I personally got, they have lost my business. Add to it, tried to call back 3x and no answer. Welcome to the block and either change your ways.or make.a change. For validation of who I am.. Matthewhoyes.com I think I know what I'm talking about, just alittle. My apologies if this seems like a negative post/review, but the facts are what they are and there is no reason to dance around the issue. I'm just extremely disappointed Have your chef or chefs for interview go through trials and cook one of each thing on your menu and perfect it before serving the general populationMore

Trying to venture out and try something new, I travelled all the way to Raleigh! Just left Chai Asian Bistro & am less than impressed. Fried rice and beef with broccoli $32.22 for the smallest portions. The young lady had terrible customer service at the...front was not only condescending she was low key rude when I asked for duck sauce. Facial expressions are never necessary when saying no. She told me that I did not order anything that requires duck sauce and if I wanted Duck sauce I would have to pay $.50 per container. After I just paid $32.22 you cannot give me a free condiment. After opening up my beef and broccoli to get a look there is hardly no meat and all veggies. I sure hope the food is good, because I WILL never be back! No value to my dollar or respect of me as a customer, I’m good! Back to Shanghai in Durham where I reside to eat! Who eats fried rice without duck sauce??More

My wife and I live in North Raleigh, and Chai’s has evolved into our first choice for Asian takeout, probably on average once every 6 weeks or so. We have a pretty standard order which we enjoy every time: beef and broccoli, spring rolls, and...a noodle dish option, typically Pad Se-Ew with shrimp or chicken added. Beef and broccoli is a dish that I like to try at new Asian restaurants, and the version at Chai’s is in the top 5% of the versions that I’ve tried over the years. I find the beef to be very tender, plentiful and tasty every time we order it. The broccoli is also generous and usually very tender. We have tried other noodle options, including the dan-dan and yakisoba, and they have been good, but we prefer the Pad Se-Ew over the others. Adding extra vegetables or a protein improves the dish, in our opinion. I wish they offered egg rolls instead of spring rolls, but the spring rolls are usually well prepared. We’ve also tried the dumplings and the tempura, and they are adequate. In general we have found the appetizers to be good but not great. The servings are very generous for two people to share, with leftovers often available. If you are in the North Raleigh area, give it a try.More

Whenever my wife is out of town on business, my daughter and I make sure one of our meals is takeout from Chai's. They consistently prepare solid food that not only is very good, but at a great price. My daughter's go-to is the Sesame...Chicken with steamed rice. Tonight, I ordered the Szechuan Chicken. Other items I have enjoyed here are General Tso Chicken, Thai Spicy Noodles, and Chicken Pad Thai.More

We recently tried Chai's Asian Bistro because we were in that part of town. The inside is nicely appointed and the service was good. We were both in the mood for Chinese dishes, and ordered a few of those. We were disappointed. The food was...edible, but not very good. I am thinking the Thai food must be better and would go back to give that a try; however, I cannot recommend the Chinese food here. Maybe they should stick only to what they know/do best!More

Over the years, Chai's Asian Bistro has become my family's favorite restaurant for Chinese / Thai / Japanese dishes. My wife does not care for Chinese food, so whenever she is out of town on business, we get take-out from Chai's. Tonight was not exception,...so we got our Chinese fix! My daughter had her favorite dish, Sesame Seed Chicken, no broccoli and steamed rice. I ordered the Tiger Tear app and Mongolian Chicken. The Tiger Tear app consists of marinated strips of grilled beef, onion and cilantro seasoned Thai style, with a chili lime vinaigrette. Just enough heat, but not too much. Totally enjoyed this app and will order it again! The Mongolian Chicken entree is made up of spicy and sweet, scallions and onions served with crispy rice noodles. Again, this was dish had just the right amount of heat. While I also enjoyed this dish, I was underwhelmed with the "crispy rice noodles". They reminded me of skinny French's Fried Onions. Don't think I would have missed them in this dish. That said, I will order Mongolian Chicken again.More
