This is our favorite restaurant in the region, an absolute treasure with delicious traditional cuisine. We drive nearly an hour just to come to Le Grain de Sel because it’s so wonderful. I have a severe gluten allergy and they always have options for me. Everything is done with excellence, the food is locally sourced, and all the vegetables are organic. Every bite melts in my mouth and is such high quality. Very highly recommend. Make a reservation.

Visited during the Fete de Pomme in Mirepoix with friends. We had booked a table for lunch and arrived at the appointed time (12:30) to find the restaurant already busy and most tables full. Service was in full swing, so we had to wait a while before we could place our orders. The waitress was cheerful and friendly, despite the rush. The food was hot and very tastey; the chevre salad was very good, as was the cassolet. The only down point was the apple tart, which was very sweet and the pastry was very soggy.

This is a fabulous place. Not fancy, but good food. It is housed in what was probably a storage house for agricultural products dating back to the 1300s. We went for lunch. My wife had the 27 euro menu, starting with a hot goat cheese salad (great goat cheese), followed by an omelette loaded with sautéed fresh cepes. I got the 20 euro menu of salad followed by a huge excellent cassoulet. Highly recommended..

As a starter we took the foie gras, although the size of the portion was ok, iT lacked taste. The fat that normally spits around the foie gras missed and may be that caused it. As main we took the tournedos de veaux which was perfect also everything that was on the plate tasted good and was an extension of the plate.
The meat was so tender that you could cut it with the backside of your knife.

Lovely lunch with friends at Le Grain de Sel, friendly, efficient staff. The restaurant is just off of the main square so it’s peaceful and quiet.
The food portions were generous, home cooked food and great tasting. I had the goats cheese and aubergine tartlet to start and it was substantial, probably a meal in its own right. The Veal was also beautiful, tender and flavoursome. Would definitely recommend and hopefully we’ll eat here again soon.

We have eaten twice at Le Grain de Sel and both times we have had good food, it is a well run place, the owner is a very capable lady and the staff all very friendly, it was busy both times and the first time they were turning people away - just off the main square, it has a regional and interesting menu. Good cassoulet and salads.

Just off the main square with its formalized tourist traps this is a lovely little restaurant with a regional and interesting menu. Professional and friendly staff. Clean tidy and with nice details. If you don't equate food with a commercialized location chose this.

Arrived at 1330
Was told by the rather unsmiling patrone that it would take 30 mins to order and we would need to wait. 45 mins later we were still waiting. ( bread just arrived)
No phone cover nor wifi.
Slow service. The smoked salmon tasted as if it had been frozen. It was delivered without comment and the empty plate retrieved without comment by the rather stern elderly waitress who acted as if she was the patrone.
Second course was foie gras de maison.
The foie gras was cooked and cold. It tasted bland and I did not eat more than a mouthful.
I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. I ate off the 30€ menu.

I had read some of the other reviews on this website and we were not to be disappointed. There does need to be some change in we Brits’ expectations though. Other reviewers said the service was slow. I’ll say that it is wonderfully French. It was friendly and relaxed and leisurely dining. We had Sunday lunch there. We didn’t book but any party more than two and coming after 12:30 would be wise to reserve a table.
There are “3 course” set menus at €20, €25 and €30. We had the €20 set menu and all three courses were delicious. English isn’t spoken but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our schoolboy French was adequate to meet our needs.
In Mirepoix, there is a busy main square and this restaurant is just off the side of it so it is a bit quieter.
Everyone else dining there then was French which I think speaks volumes for its reputation.

We called in for lunch with a visiting friend. No reservation and we were seated slightly hesitantly and left for a while. Once it came, service was OK and the food was good, with lovely quality fresh ingredients. Meal was spoiled by smoke from two cigarette smokers in tables near us. Not the restaurant's fault I know, but it spoiled our lunch.

Initially pleasant and helpful staff. Food was average quality. On getting the bill an extra €58 had been added on (charged for an extra 4 salads on top of our order!!).... we took it as a probable genuine mistake but when pointed out to the waitress she acted irritated and no apology was given. We are here after a brilliant meal on the main square as it was recommended here but we regretted our decision to not return to the other restaurant as it was leagues ahead in quality, friendly service and variety. Check your bill!!!

We availed of the €20 3 course menu which was so full of flavour and local ingredients, we had cheese salad to start, duck for the main and a cheeseboard which we took away with us. It was very good value and the service was very pleasant. We ate there on our last day and I only wish it was our first as we would definitely have returned.

Wonderful restaurant in the center of Mirepoix. We reserved and was greeted politely and immediately seated. The menu was with a nice selection of different plates. It was difficult to choose but I opted for the Gizzard Salad and Stuffed Pork Chop. My parents started with the Marinated (Home) Salmon - which was amazing.
I recommend Le Grain de Sel for a more traditional meal.
