Lovely food and good service, despite my (lack of) French!

Visited this bistro for dinner fresh off the plane from Carcassonne airport. Ate outside in the gorgeous medieval setting of the town square, with the outdoor seating area tucked beneath an overhang of centuries-old beams. Atmosphere was very friendly, and the waitresses were cheerful and accommodating - I am not fluent in French, but they were very helpful and knew enough English to get through our order. Service took a little while, but it was understandable as they were busy. The pizza I had was delicious, if a little large, though they were happy to provide a box to take it home in - the roast duck is also apparently very good. All in all, a lovely first dining experience in Mirepoix!

A nice place for a beer or something to eat.

Brasserie le Saint Maurice is one of those all encompassing establishments that acts as cafe, tea salon, ice cream shop, pizza parlour etc. Most importantly it also functions as a bar and is a nice place to sit with a beer or two. Service was charming and the young lady helpfully explained the type and strength of the pressions, which was most helpful as they weren’t the run of the mill variety. The Alsace beer she recommended was crisp and very good.

Delicious Lunch at Le St Maurice Mirepoix.

Had an excellent lunch. Service from young servers outstanding, attentive, smiling, thoughtful… obviously very well trained and happy in their jobs. A simple but delicious meal , well presented, good quality ingredients. Very tasty. Congratulations to the person responsible for training the young people who were serving. Such a happy and friendly atmosphere! Look forward to my next visit. My American cousins were extremely impressed. Thank you.

A lovely cafe ruined by the attitude of the owner

I’ve been an almost daily customer of Le Saint Maurice for over three years and have an excellent relationship with the staff. This evening the true colours of the owner, David, become apparent. Have finished my evening meal I paid my bill. Something went wrong with the transaction and the money was taken from my bank account twice. When this was pointed out to the owner he became borderline agressive and refused to believe that the transactions on my online banking app were correct. With the help of his staff I finally persuaded him to refund the second transaction. He returned the money in cash. He approached my table, slammed the money down hard and walked away with a look of thunder on his face. I’d this is how he treats a customer who spends in excess of €100 with him every week how is he going to treat a tourist who is just visiting the area. He has a contemptuous attitude to his customers. The are plenty of lovely cafes in Mirepoix. There is Sue at The Mad Hatter and the food at Le Bouchon is excellent. My advice would be to avoid Le Saint Maurice unless you want a confrontation with an agressive owner who appears not to value his customers. I cannot help but wonder if he was hoping to keep the double payment.

What a wonderful night. Superb food, delicious wine, a perfect location and the very best waitress Anaelle. We were a large, and demanding, table but Anaelle was active helping us with no delays all evening. She made great recommendations and never complained about all our changes of mind. It was a great night and made perfect by Anaelle’s service.

Lovely place to be!

Found place by accident. Had a lovely Pancake with Grand Marnier although think they were sparing with the GM! Was great to sit and watch the world go by in this ancient square. Nice wine.

We ate here twice with friends. Annaille was a fantastic waitress, nothing was too much bother for her, despite the group of 12 noisy brits! The food and beer is excellent . Strongly recommend!

Superb food in fabulous, medieval setting

We had the three course menu of the day - salmon tartar, filet of cod. The cod is the best piece of fish I’ve ever had, and I’ve eaten tons of fish over the years! Unforgettable!

Great lunch

It's been a while since I've eaten a galette but I just fancied one for lunch. This is a lovely cafe and the food is great. There isn't table service so you order inside and then collect your drinks while your cook food is bought to you once ready. It's in a lovely spot too overlooking the main square with all of the beautiful old buildings. Very good.

Visited on a hot day and found this restaurant to be absolutely fabulous from our greeting, through lunch until we left. The meal was first class and well worth the cost. This place is a must on a visit to Mirepoix

A great lunch in a lovely setting

Really fresh, locally sourced food, and very tasty. Several varieties of salad - I had the local cheeses and ham on a very crunchy salad. That and a demi-litre of Picpoul de Pinet made for a very pleasant 2 hr lunch!

Good food reasonably priced

We were here late in March. Looking for a nice restaurant out of season can be disheartening. This is a gem. They work all day and evening till 10.00. The food was delicious. We had the 16 euro evening menu. Foie gras for starters, delicious, followed by cod with dauphinoise potatoes. Yum. My husband had the fillet of pork. Very good also. I recommend this restaurant to all.
