For 30 years they looked after mum with cheerfulness and politeness.
Back again today, I swear Madam (who has sat behind the desk for 30 years to my knowledge) recognised me. Those eating were all (bar 1) local French which says all you need to know.. excellent food, and unhurried but efficient service.
We are outside under the tree but lots of space inside and though the internet shows “closed” they were still feeding newcomers.
And they have good wifi!
Endless water and bread, naturally. Reasonable wine. Normally I have the set menu but this time I spied fish soup which was very very tasty and arrived with toasts, garlic spread and grated cheese.
Honestly, I was full but the salmon with leek sauce was delicious and came with peppers.
The only thing missing was English Builders tea.. but then, this is France (and I’ll bring them a box)
I have never had a bad meal here or been treated without a smile and great politeness and kindness.
It is good, solid, welcoming, French restaurant and very very good value.

We come here, not so much for the food, but to sit in the garden and enjoy the ambience. The food is standard French hotel food, and the service is very good.

I discovered Le Commerce whilst exploring the town. It looks great, good menus, lovely shady terrace. It’s always difficult being a single diner but they were very difficult about giving me a table even though there were several empty tables for two. Eventually they agreed. After waiting patiently for 30minutes no-one had paid any attention to me. I observed 90% of the taken tables there before me had no food. It was obvious they have no staff. I got up and left. They didn’t ask me why. Some other waiting guests nodded in acknowledgement of my decision to give up and leave. 0/10

The food is great here so you can overlook the plastic seating outside. I had vegetable soup to start which was lovely. It did have a match in it but I didn’t complain. The only quibble (which shouldn’t be a quibble) is that the starters are massive. I was handed a huge vat of soup from which I could eat as much as I wanted. The vat contained about 3-4 bowlfuls which I thought was a bit wasteful.
My sea bass with fennel was very tasty and my only gripe was that it was served with rice. My fellow diners ordered meat and they got chips which were much better than my plain boiled rice so if I’d known in advance I’d have asked for chips.
I had rum baba for dessert which was swimming in rum. Don’t drive after having this for pudding!
Service was very friendly.

Indoor and outdoor tables ate this lovely authentic and un-fussy restaurant. No frills just great food and great service. If you find yourself in Mirepoix this is a real gem and not to be missed. The price is good and you won't go hungry!
Booking essential at busy times of the year. There is free parking nearby on the street.
Highly recommended.

Lovely setting eating in the garden. As I said we have never had a bad meal here so we can definitely say it's reliable. My husband's steak was perfectly cooked and my salmon tasty however the menu isn't inspiring and year on year it never changes.

Thirty years ago I first ate in Le Commerce. It was magical eating in the courtyard under the shade of the mature trees. In August 2019 it was the first visit for my friend and it was as magical for her as it had been for me all those years earlier.
We were given a warm welcome and although very busy, service was good and we enjoyed our meal.

We had a fabulous dinner with friends in early August. A table in the courtyard was perfect, as was the service. Very good, traditional food, very tasty and well presented. In particualr the cheese rolled in Ash and spices was amazing - home-made. very enjoyable.

This restaurant, one of the best in Mirepoix, is in a hotel. It serves sort of classic French provincial food in a well lit, sort of classic French provincial dining room. The service was friendly but still formal/classic. The food is OK but nothing special. I had fish soup and riz de veau, both made at the restaurant, and both were only OK. But the whole experience was quite wonderful. I loved it. Sort of like going back in time!

Varied menu, well prepared food, attentive service, good wine - what more do you want! This has become my favourite restaurant in Mirepoix, since the food is consistently good and the service is superb. My wife tells me that the chips are the best in Mirepoix!

We spent just one night in beautuful Mirepoix and our hotel prebooked this restaurant for us saying the cassoulet was very good. We thought it sounded a bit rustic but it was delightful. We ate in a courtyard shaded by lime trees. It was quite busy and one of our party tried the cassoulet with confit canard and said it was the best he’d ever had. We had duck breast in a special sauce , chèvre salad and lovely desserts . It was very good food . There were only three of us but we had 2 bottles of Fitou which was very nice indeed and the whole bill came to less than €110.

Lovely leafy courtyard, friendly service, nicely cooked traditional food. This is what you expect from the Commerce and this is what you get. It would be nice if the menu changed occasionally or if the had some daily specials but the steak was good and the trout delicious. Very friendly service, the young lady was forgiving of my poor french. All in all a nice evening.

The restaurant is timeless and filled with character. This family run business is charming, I had the occasion to play hide and seek in the lounge with the owner's grandson.

Le Commerce is a wonderful, old-fashioned hotel and restaurant offering a menu which they execute brilliantly. Their shaded courtyard is a joy in the summer, and many of the staff have worked there for a lot of years. Prices are very reasonable, but lunchtime booking, especially on Monday (market day) is essential. Highly recommended winter or summer.
