Friends of ours had highly recommended this venue to us and we were not disappointed. We had a wonderful table - number 27 - under the trees on the terrace with a great view of the valley. We were looked after very professionally, and with...a good sense of humour, by Constance who provided us with additional insight into the food and wine choices. We were lucky with the weather because it had rained on the 2 previous days. Food was fabulous and beautifully presented. Would highly recommend you try this restaurant. Only down side was that my credit card was declined apparently due to a connection problem on the restaurants end which was rather embarrassing. After waiting for 20 minutes to see if the payment went through I needed to use a different card. My card has continued to work everywhere else!More

What a transformation!! Well done everyone at La Petite Ferme. Over the last year, so much that is positive has happened and it shows. The view has always been spectacular but now the food and service has once again caught up. After a disappointing visit...over a year ago we decided to try it one more time, and boy was that the right decision! The food was exceptional. Presentation perfect. Service sublime. Wisdom and Constance couldn’t do enough to keep our group happy and informed. The Chef created a masterpiece for each of us and it tasted and felt like the Petite Ferme of old. Well done everyone We thoroughly enjoyed the visit, the service, the food, the wine and the setting. Keep it up. See you next year.More

Stunning scenery. On arrival we were given the option for pre-dinner drink to enjoy the scenery. Recommend timing pre-dinner drink with sunset. Food mostly great but I very disappointed with the lamb. It was 3 tiny lamb cutlets which were mostly bone. I got 1...small mouthful of lamb off each. Still will give 5/5 for setting and the rest of the food was spot-on.More

It always dangerous when someone has bigged up a place and your expectations are sky high. This was the backdrop with which we arrived at Petite Ferme. It’s in a beautiful setting and yes the food was very good. Yet, it lacked something for us....The dining room felt like a corridor, the wine tasting was rushed and didn’t feel like given by a connoisseur as in the other places we have visited. Didn’t quite live up to the dream.More

We had a lovely experience at La Petit Ferme. We arrived early to enjoy cocktails on the lawn and watch the sun go down which was really the highlight of the evening. The setting as you walk across the lawns and look across the valley...is just magical. Food and service was first rate. A memorable eveningMore

We were nervous to have lunch here given some of the reviews, and our visit a year ago, was disappointing. However we will always return and give it another shot, as we got married here, 11 years ago. This time, we were so relieved and...had such a nice lunch. The chef is obviously doing a great job and the waiting staff were all lovely. Particularly Henry, Janine and Evron. Between us we had the Trout (special of the day), the pumpkin soup (soup of the day), bone marrow, beef cigar, beetroot starter, the Kudo / Springbok and the cheese platter. All dishes were fab, as was the Barrel Fermented Chardonnay and the Cuvee Catherine. We swerved the desserts because of the reviews and we were too full and honestly the desserts on the children’s menu sounded more appealing. Our children had the pancakes and the Creme Brûlée and were both very happy. The view is unparalleled and we are looking forward to next time! Thank goodness this Chef seems to be listening and acting on the reviews…. finally. The rustic dishes have gone which is a bit of a shame. I’ll always miss the Trout when you got the whole fish, and the slow cooked, pulled lamb with the amazing, apricot and aubergine, sweet sauce. But these dishes were all pretty great. Just make the desserts sound more appealing and more home cooking-ey. And it’ll be truly great again :)More

A wonderful restaurant in a perfect setting. Service was very attentive and the food choices amazing. Not a cheap option but well worth the cost. Recommend you book in advance.

We stayed here for two nights on our South African Adventure. When we told people we were going to Franschhoek a few of them said we should have lunch at La Petite Ferme so it was quite cool being able to say we were actually...staying there. It's serves a great base for visiting wineries and is also a winery itself and we had a free wine tasting session on the lawn on one of the days. The food was great and the staff very attentive. The views are phenomenal. It is a lovely and relaxed place to stay even if you aren't bothered about wineries. We had a pool between five rooms in our section and there were nice shaded areas to hang out during the day and for sundowners at night. One morning my daughter was walking along the grass accompanied by a large baboon that she was totally unaware of. The baboon did no harm and scampered up a tree. By the last night we had already been in South Africa for a week and decided that a night in would be appropriate. We purchased some picnic stuff and the staff brought a table to our balcony where we sat eating as the sun went down. La Petite Ferm is a very high quality establishment to which I would have no hesitation in returning.More

La Petite Ferme was a great place to go for lunch all these years back. Unfortunately the Chef is new and the quality is no longer there. In the past the plates were well served with delicious and juicy food. Last time I had mouton...ribs...only 2 small ribs with tasteless puree. The dessert was simply terrible. I took a "Paris Brest" cake. The cake puff was not leavened and was stale. The cream inside was terribly bad. Our friends had a Chease Cake which arrived in the surprising shape of a black ball with a vaporous green decoration. Not very good as well. After eating the lips and teeth were black colour because the black colour was squid ink. Not very pleasant. The green decoration also colored their toilet with this same green color green for more than 24 hours. Unacceptable. We expressed our dissatisfaction to the reception who were fully aware about the poor quality of the food. To apologize, they remove from the bill the horrible desserts and they offered a bottle of wine. Thank you for that .... but the bill of ZAR 800 per person .... for 2 lamb chops was definitely too high! They have to change the new cook.... and we will try the next one ! We really missed the previous one !More

We first started coming here 25 years ago - it has been tradition for us on each trip to RSA. The view and setting are gorgeous and the service is excellent: however the food last week was disappointing. With so many choices in the area,...after the meal I was not surprised that it is not as busy as it had been on our precious visits.More

Stunning location, particularly at sunset. Food very disappointing- too much concentration on appearance rather than flavours, sadly.

One of our favourite experiences, a stunning setting, looking at the valley and the mountains, with amazing food and of course great wine. Reasonably priced and a highly professional team. Definitely recommended - a must do.

We visited this vineyard 2” years ago when we first came to South Africa & the location with the stunning sunset was as good as we remembered….. However the service was slow, we really didn’t know who our dedicated server was, and we were at...our table for 15 minutes before even being offered water. The 2/3 course set menu was very meat heavy …. No chicken or fish options. We shared a beetroot starter…. Very pedestrian. My lamb chops were tasty but the accompanying sauces heavy & not very flavoursome. My husband’s beef was delicious & so tender although he commented that the sauces were almost unnecessary & poorly seasoned. We had to wait ages before attracting attention to get the desert menu. We shared a walnut concoction … again rather ordinary & pretty tasteless. No manager was in evidence. Even the greeting was lacklustre. All in all would recommend La Petite Ferme for a sundowner cocktail but they need to up their game re good & service.More

Once again we thoroughly enjoyed another visit to La Petite Ferme for dinner. We were looked after all night by Augustine from Zimbabwe who was absolutely fantastic - he is a real enthusiast. We enjoyed the food and wine and ended up ordering a bottle...of “Verdict” which was lovely. Enjoyed the evening.More

I am only now getting round to writing reviews from my visit to SA over Xmas/New year 23. My step daughter and husband had visited on honeymoon and raved about it so we had pre-booked and were really looking forward to it but I almost...cancelled based on the poor reviews that preceded our visit last January. I am so glad I did not. We had an excellent lunch, with lovely wines (and a driver!) with one of the best views i have experienced whilst eating. It was busy so a nice atmosphere and despite that good service.More
