Enjoyed a beautiful sunset dinner on the rooftop tonight. Our waitress Pepper provided excellent service. She brought drinks and took our food order quickly. After waiting more than20 minutes for our Maui burger and Mahi tacos, Pepper apologized for the delay and said she had been informed that our meals had been dropped on the way up the stairs so they were being remade. She apologized profusely. About 15 minutes later, our meals arrived looking good, except that I had ordered corn tortillas and my tacos were served in flour tortillas. Again Pepper apologized, and I said no worries. I would eat the tacos as they were as I didn’t want to wait for another remake. Soon after the manager came to our table, apologized for the delay, and offered to send corn tortillas home with my 2 uneaten tacos, AND offered to take the tacos off our bill. We appreciated the excellent service, the delicious food, and the adjustment to our bill for the unfortunate wait. We love Stray Dog and hope to enjoy more great meals here this summer.

Ended up at The Stray Dog after shopping & a beach day in St. Joseph on our way home. They don't take reservations but you can check in the front and they will take your name and text you when your table is ready. It worked for us as we sat and watched a beautiful sunset plus the hour 15 min wait we were told turned out to be 45 minutes. Nice job Stray Dog! We sat on the rooftop deck. It was beautiful. Our server Kelsey was attentive and nice. We had the spinach artichoke dip to start. Hubby had the El Diablo burger and I had the Chinese Chicken salad. Everything was delicious and portions were good for the price. Staff were all following Covid precautions and menu was not downsized like so many restaurants have done during Covid. Would love to come back but need to figure out a time when it is not so crowded as we were there mid week around 8pm and it was packed. Great restaurant so not sure if this is possible.

Expect a two hour wait on a weekend in July. You can't make reservations, but if you go there and put your name in two hours before you want to eat, you'll be all set. (They text you when your table is ready.) We didn't eat there, but did get drinks. They were all pretty good. We wanted to sit on the rooftop deck, but weren't able to get up there. Service was good and the place itself was cool. Great location.

We have gone more than a few times and each time loved it! We get the roof top seating and so far no problems with anything. The waitresses and waiters are very pleasant and knowledgeable to help you decide what you would like to eat. Since we have been there more than a few times, I can't remember what dish I liked the most so I have to say all the dishes are great. A great view of the lake and boats docked up so you can enjoy the view and have a great dish. Go and enjoy!!!

We were recommended to stop here and glad we did. Service was good as well as the food. We just got nachos and deep fried hot dogs all was very tasty.. they recommended their burgers, tacos and homemade pizza.. if ever in the area stop by and try them out.. they do not take reservations but we only had to wait 30min. You can also eat on upper deck outside only if your 21yrs or older.. You give them your you name and number and they text you when your table is ready ( you have 5min to get back so stay close) there are shops you can walk to and be back in time..no shops over the bridge just the boat docks and beach area..

Went for a short weekend to New Buffalo. Hour and 15 minute wait for a seat at the bar. Could not go in until reservation was called so went across the street for a drink at Casey’s bar. Get our reservation text and they had us at a small table Not the bar. Waitress was very rushed and seemed frustrated we didn’t know what we wanted yet. Fish tacos and burger were good but not exceptional. Drinks were pricey- no dessert was offered or a fresh drink We left and went back to Casey’s bar

Loved eating here on the roof terrace. It was busy, so expect a wait. We waited about 20 minutes to go up to the rooftop terrace. Our server, the delightful, friendly and professional Alissa (hope I spelt that write) was a star. In fact all the staff we interacted with were brilliant. To me this was more a snacky type place and also sooooo much better value than Chicago. My wife had Clifford Bay SB to drink, $10 and I had 16oz/pint of Sam Boston, $9. My wife had a simple Ceasar salad topped up with grilled shrimp, $10 & $9. I had the Turkey Club, $15, supported with a side of fries, $6. Followed by a simple coffee, oddly served in a to go cup, but not a problem. Brilliant, loved it here, great staff, thank you Alissa. Highly recommended.

Even during these hectic times, when many restaurants are short staffed, the Stray Dog still took the time to make sure my food was appropriate for my allergy and they did it with a smile. Not often the case with my soy/soybean oil allergy. A little bit of a wait for roof top outdoor seating, but definitely worth it, for the view and for Covid precautions.

It was a long wait on a Saturday evening, but it was worth it! The food was excellent, and the view was amazing on the upper level. The hamburger and grilled chicken wrap were delicious! The prices were reasonable, but sides are not included. The only disappointment was I order kettle chips as a side, and I received a bag of potato chips: $2.25 for a bag of chips?!

We were on our way home from further north in Michigan and decided to stop. It was an hour wait at 1pm. We decided to wait and just check out the shops. The food was good. Truffle fries, shrimp tacos, and tall lemonade drink are recommended. We were very disappointed that we waited one hour to eat there but then had to wait another half hour/an hour across the street to get a shirt. I feel like if you eat there you should be able to get the merch in your bill. Our service was good though. Overall it was a good experience but a little overrated.

We popped into the Stray Dog for a snack and a drink. The ambiance was cool and the service was good. We each had a drink and a little snack and the bill was almost $40. I was dying for a Stray Dog sweatshirt so stopped into the shirt shack. Yikes, the prices there were outrageous! Over $50 for a a sweatshirt that advertises your name to everyone who sees it? We'll pass on the Stray Dog next time.

On a family trip just before Labor Day we stopped in New Buffalo for a late lunch at the Stray Dog. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table (at 2.45pm for lunch!), but it was worth the wait. The menu has a lot of variety, and the food proved to be tasty, especially the burgers. The service was friendly and efficient, and it was a good experience. I'm sure that if we lived in New Buffalo we would be fairly regular diners. Just a pity that children are not allowed on the rooftop dining area even during lunchtime.

My friend paid over $54 dollars (with < a 20% tip) for the 2 of us to have lunch last week. She got the turkey pastrami club ($17); I got the spicy bacon sliders ($17), but both were specials for the day. I had a diet coke, she a real coke, and both of those were $3 each. We also ordered small fries ($3) to go with the meals, which didn't come with any sides. So bill total = $43 (45.58 w/ tax). Our waitress was friendly and did a great job. We got seated by the fireplace, because it was a cooler day, and we didn't want the high tops. But it was no hassle at all to the staff. It was 1 pm Michigan time when we got there, and many tables & booths were filled, but the food came out quickly. I loved the 3 sliders - spicy and delicious cheese on top. I ate it all up; nothing to take home. My friend also loved the turkey pastrami, & took about half home, as it was huge for a sandwich. I've been to Oinks and the "burgers with the ugly-faced guy" before, but I like Stray Dog's atmosphere better than both of those touristy spots. And it is definitely better food than the sushi place in town, which rots, despite the cute Kawaii decorations. I would definitely consider coming here again in the summer. The food was Burgerhaus quality (a favorite burger place in Valpo and Munster), but just a bit more expensive. Still, NB is a waterfront town with lots of tourists, so you expect a mark-up, and I'm not sure if Michigan sales tax is higher than Indiana's. Good midrange spot.

In route to Four Winds Casino, we chose to eat at local eateries. Before we even got to Four Winds casino, we already hit the jackpot. This place is a real winner! An inviting physical space, casual but cozy. Large windows and views and a fireplace. The bar area is popular and comfortable. Loved all the pics of various dogs and puppies. The menu had much variety from appetizers, snacks, sandwiches and full meals. My meal and my friend’s were both very satisfying. Their real gem though is their friendly and attentive staff. This is a very well-run establishment. A couple days later, I had some automobile woes and didn’t know where to go to seek services. I said, hey, the staff at the Stray Dog might be able to tell us. Sure enough, they exhibited true concern and gave us good advice. I think the Stray Dog will now be routine on our visits to New Buffalo (we’re from the Western suburbs of Chicago.)

Great place by a peaceful marina with friendly staff. Good range of craft beers and food. Our server Cassie recommended the truffle fries while we pondered our choice of food over the craft beers. Terrific suggestion, they were delicious. As were the burgers. After the fries, we had them lettuce wrapped and the taste was still outstanding. Highly recommended stopover in this delightful and handsome town.
