Obviously a lot of restaurants in Croatia to get fresh whole grilled fish but none better than Pojoda. The grilled red scorpion fish is a must. Prepared simply with salt, pepper and olive oil. The red snapper prepared the same didn’t have the same quality....The seafood risotto is worthy. A very nice outdoor and indoor setting with a nice choice of Croatian wines.More

It is very RUDE that they booked the wrong date and left 11 of us standing at the door. Although it was their mistake, they acted as it was our fault, treated us very badly, yelled us and eventually they sacked us away. Horrible place,...horrible service and attitude. Do not even bother to come here unless you want to be treated as trash. There are so much better places.More

We dined twice in Pojoda on our recent holiday. Greeted by my favourite waiter (and local cricketer) Stanko, when I asked if anything had changed on the menu, his reply was "only the prices". Restaurants on Croatian islands have become very expensive, but the best...ones still offer great value and great food. Pojoda is one of the best although its concept, offering a wide range of what are described as appetisers, but are actually well made and filling variants on traditional dishes cooked by fishing households over several generations, is not immediately obvious and not always explained clearly. It is worth occasionally spending even more money on fresh fish, always cooked to perfection, but combining these appetisers is the best way to go. My favourites - tuna tartar topped with local caviar and in a spicy marinade; and octopus polpeta. One more thing, Pojoda is full most evenings in summer, often with large groups of yachting types. Reserve a couple of days ahead or, even better, go for lunch which allows you to enjoy the ambience of the beautiful shaded garden and, most of the time, there will only be a few tables occupied. Tell Stanko I say hi and, be assured, you will receive excellent service whether you spend a fortune or decide on the simpler dishes.More

We had a wonderful evening at Pojoda! Our family of six were taken well care of by Nayo (forgive me if spelled wrong!) He asked what we preferred and expertly guided us through the menu, selecting portions based on everyone’s preferences. He also presented us...with several fresh fish to choose from and explained each one to us. None of us had tried the red scorpion fish, so Nayo told us we must. It was one of the best fish we’ve ever eaten. Yes, the restaurant makes it known that your reservation is for two hours and I suspect that when things are really busy, they hold you strictly to that. We were told that our table was available to us from 7-9. We arrived early and were taken care of, but not rushed off after nine, in fact we were finishing up at 930 or so.More

Awful food, terrible service! We were group of 4, ordered “fresh” fish and some domestic vegetables. This restaurant is everything but NOT good. Strongly recommend to avoid this place. There is a lot of other places where you can have better food and service!!!

I strongly DON’T recommend this restaurant. I was with friends last night and we ordered lobster. I have never tasted worse lobster in my life. It was uncooked and we found hair in it. The service was terrible and unprofessional. If you are smart and...looking for great service and great food - AVOID THIS PLACE!!!More

Staff are friendly by the local standards, they where polite and made a point of saying thanks/bye to customers. We are both vegetarian and even though its a fish restaurant there was a couple of things we could eat. Nice outside area under the shade...of citrus trees. Wine is nice. Prices are reasonable. They take bookings or walk ins.More

Restoran Pojoda is a lovely garden restaurant. Our food was very good, & the service was lovely, but unfortunately, the whole experience was spoiled at the end by the SHOCKING price of our fish! To cut to the chase: €101 / 770kn for one average...sized John Dory, for 2 people!! (You can see the size of one fillet, on my plate, in photos, at the start of our meal.) NOT including fries (€4 /30kn), garlic + herb oil dressing (€3.15 /24kn) Altogether, the main course cost almost €110 for grilled fish, fries & dressing! And this is not Michelin! When we'd decided to order fresh grilled fish, which is priced per kg, we were shown a tray of fish. This was our 3rd night ordering fish like this, in different restaurants on Vis. So, we were accustomed to the fact that it's priced for the full raw fish. We picked the John Dory, which looked to be an average sized one that would yield 2 decent fillets. I've bought full John Dory myself, & filleted it, so I know what I'm looking at. Should mention here that buying full fish per kg is way, way cheaper than buying prepped, filleted fish, which takes time, which you pay for. However, lifting cooked fillets off the bone takes moments! A generous raw fillet per person would be 180g. An average full John Dory, therefore, to feed 2 people, should weigh just under a kg. The price on the menu was 550kn /€72 per kg. We reckoned on paying about €65 - €70 for the average sized fish we picked......Evidenced by my photo of one fillet. Fish is VERY expensive in Croatia!! But it's a nice upmarket restaurant, so we expected this. Not 50% MORE. On our bill, the weight given for the fish was 1.4kg!! That's a massive fish!! And, we'd no way to verify this, as it wasn't weighed in front of us. By my reckoning, a 1.4kg John Dory would easily feed 4 people. That's not the size we got. We'd had a starter, & we were still able to finish the fish. (Starter was shrimp salad, easily enough to do 2 or 3 people. €12.50 /95kn) Local Vugava wine same price as everywhere (ca. 200 kn / €26) Altogether, 1 shared starter, bread & oil, John Dory fish & fries for 2, a bottle of local Vugava, & a bottle of sparkling water, the bill was 1155kn /€152.More

The only and a very strong reason to write this review is that here we had THE BEST TASTING GRILLED FISH ever and anywhere!!!! That’s it!:) A wonderful gentleman working very hard to serve our table of 8. Classic Croatian outdoor patio restaurant covered in...fruit trees and local vegetation. It was a large deep sea rare catch fish from Adriatic and it was prepared whole, grilled on gradele, better then ever!!!More

Simple, fast, delicious. The waiter was helpful in English and Italian too… the Scorfanza on grill was delicious. But the best was the Gamberi alla nonna for starters.
