We bicycled down from Ames to try their barbecued sandwiches. Had the pulled pork which was both generous and good. The good food just barely makes up for the decor, cleanliness and order which is redolent of a Depression roadside cafe in the Texas Panhandle...circa 1938. They would have a great offering if they cleaned/painted/fixed the broken air conditioning/kept things neat.More

The quirkiness on the outside of the restaurant (a roaring werewolf and giant Chewbacca head over the door) combined with the name of the restaurant (which happens to be my stepson's name), beckoned to us to stop in. The ambiance is grungy (read dirty with...tiny round tables). There was a bit of an odor inside and it took a while to get our food. My husband ordered the tenderloin which was huge. Despite its' size, he said it was so/so since he's not really a tenderloin fan. I ordered the inside-out burger. It was two thick hamburger patties with cheese in the middle. The burger was tasty and okay until I encountered raw hamburger on the inside and a nasty taste. I took the sandwich back up to the counter and reported I couldn't couldn't eat it because the meat on the inside was raw. The owner, who offered to fix me something else, told me it was hard to tell if the meat was fully cooked because the patties were so thick, but he assured me he had used a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. When I mentioned the bad taste when I got to the middle he immediately realized I was referring to the bleu cheese that was inside the burger, which he happens to love. Basically, the large menu selections are written on a big chalk board and there are no details about the sandwiches. If I had known the sandwich had included bleu cheese I would NOT have ordered it. Rather than ordering a different sandwich I opted for a refund of my money. I'm sure the owner works hard, as he built the restaurant in memory of his late son.More

Best pork loin sandwhich, tender, juicy, wonderful to take the extra home. wonderful service, desert is fabulous with hot chocolate fudge to top off the family experience, be sure to enjoy the food.

Great tenderloins, served at a place that could use a good cleaning. Less than $10 worth of clean up supplies and elbow grease and it will improve. Just get the tenderloins to go! We stopped to get ice cream. We walked inside to order. The odor of old grease was so bad, you almost puck. The floor we so bad bad with dirt and sticky crap, it stuck to your shoes. This place should be shut down and...not allowed to be open!!!!!! The fly's were everywhere.....More

Iowa is known for breaded tenderloins and this one is huge. Be prepared to take half home with you. The hot fudge sundae was equally as generous. Enjoyed the drive to get there

The wait was crazy long for no one else there. The food was fantastic. No Sysco specials here. Shared onion rings, I had a cheeseburger, my husband had the famous tenderloin. We both agree food is great. Good flavor. Large portions. BUT, oh my god!...The bugs outside, cobwebs, clutter and garbage (there was even an amazon box next to the outdoor tv), general disrepair inside and out, and just plain filth that should be cleaned were so unappetizing that I would've left if we hadn't decided to give it a shot no matter what. I will start with placing our order --- it was like there was ADHD making the signs or that the offered food changes everyday or something. When I went outside I saw more choices. Organizational reset is sorely needed. The owner (I would guess) seemed friendly. The dining areas should have a solid deep clean at least once a year. The cobwebs and dust near the indoor tv would indicate it hasn't been done in many years. The back patio area reminded me of my grandmas house. She was a junk collector. Being a restaurant, it is not appetizing to see massive ants, regular ants, bees, and a ton of flies while eating. Should've gone to a park. I probably would've given the place a higher rating had I never seen that. But when you see stuff like that, including a back door that was disgusting, you really wonder what the kitchen looks like! I cannot give a favorable review. Not very clean and junky looking outside. Maybe he means to have all that "stuff" outside to cater to kids BUT it looks junky.

Be ready to share or only eat half they are so big. Restaurant area needs good cleaning and maintaining but if you buy for take out, try it.

The burgers are awesome too! Top it off with a creamy shake. I highly encourage all veterans in the area to support this establishment!
