We’ve been a lot of places but this was absolutely The Best breakfast we’ve ever had! We both loved the plate size, thick nicely browned pancake with fresh blueberries added, the thick bacon, and The Best crispy hash browns. The French toast was good too....Portions are large but so good we ate every bite. Everything was served fast and steaming hot. We’ll be back any time we’re in the area. If in Perry to stay at Hotel Pattee, Lou’s is just a mile down the same street.More

Out for a ride after an evening of tornado warnings, I stopped at Lou's for a bite to eat. This is a non descript totally hole in the wall type of place, which happens to be my FAVORITE type of place to dine!!! I had...the Haystack breakfast, which consisted of hashbrowns, green peppers and onions, and an egg topped with delicious sausage gravy. A very tasty hot breakfast that will last me all day. Lou's Diner is the type of small town eatery that I'm always searching for in my travels all across the US.More

My wife and I went there today to try the Philly Cheese Steak. It was very food, one of the best we've tasted. I had frys and she had onion rings. She said they were just like she likes

Despite it's unassuming look on the outside, this small breakfast/lunch diner provided an excellent breakfast and very good food. The single server/cook/cashier was really a model of efficiency as she took orders, cooked meals and waited tables in a horseshoe shaped dinning area. Despite the...heavy early morning workload, she was cordial, fast and very well organized. A gem or a small restaurant.More

They have the standard breakfasts and also including some specialty breakfast like the haystack. Very large omelettes and very large pancakes. You need to go with an appetite. They have recently started making cinnamon rolls and caramel rolls on Saturdays. I usually get a caramel...roll bring it home and add my own pecans. Hence my own pecan roll.More

This place being open just shows what kind of nasty tasteless food people will get use too and eat. One of the worst places in Perry. This place only serves only the cheapest of product that they then prepare in the worst way. The big...ole cook behindecthe counter named Cherie is a sad sack of a person with a very bad attitude and should not to be allowed to cook every. Bad food, very run down dirty building, terrible food, terrible service and terrible people running this hole in the ground diner. For health reasons I suggest you eat somewhere else.More

It is a hole in the wall, and in a more industrial area, but we'll be back again. We enjoyed the pancakes and sausage, and the fresh brewed coffee. Nothing fancy, just an excellent basic breakfast. I've heard I need to stop by for the...pie...definitely on my to-do list.More

If you want a Midwestern, meal that is served the way the locals like it, this is your place. No frills, just good food. You might want to consider a half order of potatoes. The servings are huge.

My husband and I love this place. We eat there every Saturday morning when we deliver our hay to the Perry hay auction. It is 1. a great place to eat and 2. a real step back to simpler times when we all ate at...diners. I would call Lou's reuben sandwich the best I've ever eaten, ahead of even my own. Big slices of corned beef and a delicious dressing. It's wonderful. My husband goes with an omelet. Always big and generously filled with the things he likes. Prices are more than fair. Compared to Des Moines, a real bargain. The cafe closes at 2:00 pm most days, so there's no dinner offering to review. The lunch specials vary, but it's all home cooked. And recently I've picked up a few jars of Lou's elderberry and apple jam for Christmas giving. Lou's is a very small, unassuming cafe. But these small, locally-owned places deserve to be supported. And Lou's is especially worthy of our business. Go there!More

Went wanting to love it but food was mediocre. Pancakes were huge BUT dense. Bad day or ? Hash browns were crispy per request but salted with a very heavy hand. Scrambled egg was tough which is pretty difficult to do.
