Not recommended. I suggest visiting another restaurant for steak. Very poor all around. Mediocre service at best. Order took 15min to be taken. Drinks took a long time to be ordered and delivered. We ordered a burger and a 12oz ribeye. The food came undercooked...as well as overcooked. They took their time to bring out the order as well as the remake. Food was also mediocre at best. I waited so long I lost my appetite. They chose not to compensate any of the meal. Upon request for management they refused to come to the table and we never met them. Not recommended. 12/30 text i was there supposed to be ready n 20 minutes a hour later called them and they never got it. Had to wait in car another 1 1/2 hours. 1/31 called in 2 hours for a table i was told. went up to...window and girl told me all they have are bar stools when they told me when i booked it it was a table. I am handicapped and they knew it. My knees will not take dangling down from a bar stool. Told me another 1 1/2 to get a table. I would not recommend this place to my work enemy.More

There are not many places to get good tasting steaks here in Des Moines. I suppose it's an "Iowa thing" but most places just add zero seasoning to their steaks. So we always find ourselves going back to Texas Roadhouse. They've never disappointed. Yeah, I...always eat too many peanuts, but other than that, they're great. A few tips though: 1. Use call ahead seating. It will save you a long wait. 2. Try the baked sweet potatoes; they're the best in town. 3. Use the Early Bird option if you can; you just can't beat that price. 4. I like a medium rare steak, but at this particular Texas Roadhouse, I have to order it as "Rare Plus." That works every time.More

On a Monday at 5:15 the restaurant was packed with a line waiting to get in. My friend and I were seated at the bar and were served by Rolf. He was upbeat, informative and accommodating. Although he was incredibly busy preparing drinks, he was...engaged with us and checked in frequently to see how our meal was. I had the 20 oz bone-in ribeye and it was served exactly as ordered. I did not order any of the add-ons (mushrooms, onions, etc,) as I wanted to get the full flavor of the steak. The steak was perfectly cooked inside and out and I did not add a dash of salt or any steak sauce - it was perfect as is. The sweet baked potato and seasoned rice came put perfectly cooked . The food was hot and fresh - very rare for a corporate chain, Although a big fan of steakhouses, I had never been to Texas Roadhouse, but most definitely will be back.More

We arrived close to closing time but were able to be served. We had a table near entrance that was within eye view of kitchen and bar. Our server was attentive (Cynthia) and checked back a few times with us. Food was fresh , hot...and beer cold. Just what we needed after a night of driving. What was most impressive was the diligence of staff to clean the kitchen for closing time. It was a group effort and impressive how much attention to detail was done. Great job!More

We are in town on business and went for an early dinner. Steak was 9.99 before six. Was almost full, and it was fairly quite.

I hate that they seat two at the tiny table with no room for food. The rolls were eaten before he even stopped back to take our order. A runner brought the tater skins and had to put the peanuts on the ledge to have...room for the appetizer. They didn't bring more rolls. We were just started eating the tater skins when the salads came out. We just started working on the salads when the entrees came out delivered by another runner along with an appetizer order of ribs that we didn't order. We were eating the entrees when the waiter stopped to say that he inadvertently ordered appetizer ribs for us that we did not order. I said do you have to through them out if you take them back. He said yes but unless he took them back then he couldn't take the charge off the ticket. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. Usually, when the kitchen muffs up they eat the loss. Not pull we'll charge you if we don't take it back. This is the second time that we were rushed out of there in 20 minutes when we came early for the early dining menu. I see they are opening a new location in the old Fuddruckers in West Des Moines maybe then they will let you dine in peace instead of forcing you out the door by bringing the bill and to-go boxes while you are still eating your dinner. I still can't get them to put the Chicken Fried Chicken steak on one plate. With the small table, there is no room for all of the plates. As soon as they bring it out I now dump it all on one plate and let them take the other 2 plates back. They said they aren't allowed to put it all together with the big wigs watching in the kitchen.More

Menu had plenty of choices and peanuts on table. We ordered fried pickles (portion was huge) and half of basket was leftover. We both ordered Road Kill which was smothered in onions, mushrooms, cheese, salads and baked sweet potatoes. The meat was juicy and tender...and the potatoes were huge. All of the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend. Price was very reasonable for amount of food.More
