Whilst over in Chicago on business a few new restaurants were tried The Gage being one of them. Situated in ‘The Loop’ it oozes atmosphere, was nice and busy which is always a good sign. It was the 17th annual ‘Chicago Restaurant Week’, a time...where ‘prixe-fix’, fixed price menus are available in many eateries, The Gage had one. Suffice to say, the food was excellent, some raw fish done ceviche style really got the taste buds moving, adorned with some radish, onion, spicy chilli and pomegranate it was a brilliant starter. There was a lot of choice for mains, meat, fish which is my usual goto, this time I picked the Squash Agnolotti, a good test of the kitchen getting the pasta to the perfect thickness, properly seasoned filling and enough of it to balance the casing. It was another knockout dish, siting alongside sage breadcrumbs and basil butter, truly delish. I was full at this point so the dessert was shared with colleagues, a sharp lemon and meringue creation, a great palate cleaner to finish. The Gage was great, atmosphere, service and food spot on, comes well recommended. Worth a visit if you are in town.More

Dined before a show at the auditorium theater. Participated in the restaurant week menu which was very good. Apple fennel salad was ok. Lamb biryani was very good. Our server was excellent. Very warm and accommodating, timing our meal perfectly for an on time departure....Her wine recommendation was also very good. Nice booth in corner and very good food and drinks made for an enjoyable evening.More

First of all, service was fantastic - this review focuses on the food. Decent cocktails (martini in a desert cup not preferable but maybe they were short on glasses), fine apps, but the Coconut Curry was thick and soupy and filet had no taste and...was chewy. Kitchen had a bad night in my opinion - maybe training? Loved the Gage in past and will try again but not for a while.More

Cool location but like many places in Chicogo, overpriced. The place is small but nice. Staff very friendly and dressed to be expensive. So be prepared for expensive food and average quantity. Mixed drink was 2x more and half the size of anywhere else I...have benn.More

Fabulous restaurant - great location, classic decor, great menu, and fabulous service. Even with the crowds around the holidays, we had hot food and great service! Love the seating areas with the fireplaces! Very cozy.

2d time here, 1st time for dinner, early reservation, 4 people. We got our appetizers (fried pickles-very good) before our drinks. Very dark booths, could not see menus or food. Chicken was dry, fried fish was excellent, fries over cooked. Ordered a $70 bottle of...wine, waiter brought $120 bottle, and charged us $120, he was not very attentive overall. Disappointed!More

Grab a booth and settle in for attentive service and interesting menu. It feels like an old supper club, but delivers on contemporary cocktails and food.

Terrible service. Waiter judged how we ate our burrata (no bread). We ordered the steak from the beginning, and 45 minutes later the waiter entered it at the kitchen. We will not come back.-

A great place if you’re going to Millennium Park. I went twice during my weeks stay in CHI. The fried Pickles are great as was everything else. Impeccable service to boot.

The Gage restaurant is a well known, upscale restaurant in the city, and has a perfect location near many attractions of the Chicago Loop -- parks, theatres, shops, cafes and other restaurants. I stopped at this restaurant for brunch, was seated right away in a...nice, comfortable dining area indoors, which is one of several dining areas of The Gage. The server Lylah F couldn't be nicer: she was very hospitable, friendly, and commented on some items of the menu. The Classic Gage Breakfast was very good and tasty (eggs, sausage), not excellent though: bacon was very greasy, and potatoes were flavorless. The size of the meal was quite generous, and Saratoga bottled sparkling water was absolutely perfect. The restaurant is very nicely appointed, has a full bar, a pleasant-looking, large seating area outdoors, the decor is classic, as well as the whole relaxing ambiance in the restaurant. All staff was very polite, welcoming and attentive. Overall, I enjoyed my stop at The Gage, it was a nice break during a busy day, and the first acquaintance with this restaurant, so next time I will try to order something else from the menu, which looks very attractive, with many choices and details.More

Our first time at The Gage was when it opened - we were there for the actual opening. It is still amazing. Go. We love the different seating areas. Given how busy they may or may not be, you may not be able to choose,...but you can really customize your experience if you want to. Food is amazing. Get the soup special, whatever it is. For us this summer it was cantaloupe gazpacho. Great ingredients artfully prepared. Wine list and cocktails do not disappoint - get the chef's hot chocolate with chartreuse - just saying.More

I don't recall them as having valet parking, however, you could call or email them; there are at least three parking lots/garages within about a block of their location. Google-it.

Hi, they do accept walkins, but it is a popular place especially at lunch and it is near the museum and theatres, so it will likely be busy for dinner as well. I would suggest calling ahead
