No overhead menu so if you are in line, there’s no way to select your order before making it to the front and reading the small menu. Online menu is insufficient and profiles ordering coffee in bulk. Pricing is very high for the value. Customer...service is lacking. I dare you to ask for whipped cream on a drink. You may get a death glare as the superior-minded staff tell you they don’t carry either whipped cream or cinnamon. The clerk treated customers like an inconvenience.More

Intelligentsia Coffee is a coffee shop along E Randolph Street. They also have a spot at Wildberry Pancake and Cafe just a couple blocks east, just north of Millennium Park. There you can enjoy their coffee along with a hearty and very good breakfast at...Wildberry. We really enjoyed their brewed black coffee along with pancakes, corn beef hash and biscuits & gravy recently. It is a solid coffee, nice flavour, goes well with American breakfast orders.More

Great coffee. I had a cold brew. I recommend for your coffee stop any time. Pour overs are also very good. Whatever you decide to get is good.

Nice coffee shop. I enjoyed having the large windows to look out while I sipped my coffee and ate my delicious almond croissant.

Coffee is good, but the people working there are terrible . I was waiting to order and the girl behind the bar totally ignored me . She was chatting with barista . After that the barista served me in a paper cup (everybody was having...ceramic). When I asked to switch eyes rolling and throwing with spoon and cup was the answer. Unbelievable when a Cappuccino is almost 6 dollarsMore

If you happen to be in the Theatre District of Chicago Loop, Intelligentsia Coffee at 53 E Randolph St is a very popular, hip place to have a cup of coffee or tea, or to enjoy a snack -- pastries, biscuits, cakes, etc. This is...a contemporary cafe -- very spacious, with high ceilings; and walls decorated with colorful paintings, which reflect the modern looks and atmosphere of the city as busy and buzzy, dynamic and vibrant, cool and striking -- that's Chicago! At the counter I ordered a cup of Cappuccino ($4.75) -- it was pretty good, a rather small volume though; the staff lady at the counter was attentive and polite. Adding some half-and-half for a better balance of coffee was done on a self-service principle. And this was fine. At 11 am the cafe was full of customers: coffee-and-friendly-talk aficionados -- in fact, this is just what you expect from a bustling place like Intelligentsia Coffee. I was quite impressed with a very descriptive menu, offering varieties of Brewed Coffee, Signature Drinks, Tea, Hot Chocolate, etc, -- all ready for the season. Actually, I plan to be back any time soon and have that Hot Apple Cider!More

Popped out of a national conference to find the highly recommended local coffee spot nearby. Fabulous seasonal Avena latte - great flavor profile. The coffee is 5 ⭐️ but giving an overall rating of 4 ⭐️ because the customer service was a bit lacking.

Nice to get great coffee where it is generally so poor in the US . Nice venue with a good vibe and a good feel. Easy to find and get service.

My latte was very good. The espresso was smooth and the milk was creamy - also finished decoratively and beautifully. The atmosphere in the cafe is great - light filled, roomy and comfortable.

Croissants were super dry - definitely looking a couple of days old. When we asked how old the croissants we were replied in a very stern way that they were from this morning- without even worrying or investigating why we were asking. You can’t pay...48 dollars for this quality of products. Ps you don t ask for tips at a bar. At the till. Without even serving people at the table.More

We strolled into Intelligentsia Coffee after an afternoon of exploring the city. I highly recommend the pour over (it's an experience in itself to watch the barista prepare) and the seasonal Avena Latte. So delicious and the service was outstanding!

Went here with my wife for a quick morning coffee hang out. We ended up getting 4 coffees. All were good. Staff was fast, attentive, etc. Giving 4 stars because we ordered a “Barrista’s choice” and ended up just getting a literal most basic cup...of black coffee. If coffeehouse was really busy we’d be more empathetic…. But no one else was in line. A little disappointed in that void of enthusiasm, creativity, and effort considering the price. It was the barristas choice to choose basic black coffee… and that’s fine… but then it’s also my choice to give only 4/5.More
