I had fried chicken. The three sides were mashed potatoes and gravy, fried squash and green beans. I loved the chicken and the fried squash. Waylans didn't get my top rating because the mashed potatoes were from a box, and the green beans were from a can. Real potatoes and fresh green beans would have made all the difference. They also had country fried steak, liver, hamburger steak, pork chops and barbecue. If you don't like the sides, you can substitute potatoe salad or coleslaw, but my companion said those were also out of a can. The ladies at the counter were very friendly and welcoming. A drink is included, all for $7.02, so you really can't beat the price.

I have been dying for porkchops for the past few days. This was my first time at Waylon's, I got two breaded porkchops, potato salad, (the waitress let me substitute potato salad because I am not a fan of Okra)field peas, and boiled potatoes, and a huge sprite for eight dollars. I didn't think they were any places like this left anymore! The place is bright and airy, and kept very clean. I will be back. thank you, Waylon's!

We were just traveling through and looking for some good place to have lunch. Saw this restaurant on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a try. The food was really good and very reasonably priced selection from seafood to home. Cooking would highly recommend it in the area or driving through.

The fried chicken was cooked to order served sizzling hot. Not sitting under a heat lamp like some places.

Found Waylon's Restaurant a couple blocks south of US 441 in McRae, Georgia about three years ago while driving back home from the mountians. Have made this our usual lunch eatery on our return trips. There are a wide choice of items on menu with daily specials. Meal prices are a steal. Hamburger, fries and drink under $3. The food is super good and filling. Fast friendly service. Clean well kept place. Decor is very nice. Down home friendly place. A true hidden cuisine gem. Definitely Five Star Dining.

I would have given five stars if I had not encountered a snotty girl. She was training another girl who seemed embarrassed at how this gal was acting. She had a smart a lack attitude and while waiting for The order to come up laid her head on the counter. We were on vacation staying at the State Park. We ordered a 8 piece chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and Cole slaw. The chicken was some of the best (broasted) I have ever had. The sides were great also. I would have given five stars for food only. That gal needs to learn how to give good customer service and look perky instead if laying around on the counter. Tacky!!!

This is a popular place in the mornings! Basic mom & pop place. Very old building & a bit unorganized & really needs updating but these types of places usually are.

Old family diner type place that looks like it stuck in the 80s. You can smell the fried foods as you pull in. Building is old, but clean.
We had fried chicken, creamed corn(it was from a can) french fries(they were from a bag) and a sunbeam roll.
Overall, the chicken was good, but dry, it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. However, we were eating a late lunch at 1:30 in the afternoon. The sweet tea was good, and then we had two slices of pumpkin pie- or so i thought. It was a pudding make pie that was flavored as pumpkin.
I would like to try it again during lunch hours to see if the chicken is pipping hot and not overcooked. Average local dive. Nothing we had was really that good.
