There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this restaurant. The food is always top notch, and the staff are the best. They have the best pizza in the area and the pasta is phenomenal. My mouth is watering just thinking about Mama G's.
We very much enjoyed our dinner. We arrived around 4:45 thinking barely anyone would be there but we had been hiking & we were hungry early as we had not eaten lunch…they had about 5-7 tables when we arrived but I was surprised that by...5:15 the place was filling up & had a constant flow of people-was almost full by the time we left. I’ve never seen a restaurant so busy at that time BUT I guess since they are basically the only decent restaurant open, they were getting the crowds. Our server was great-very pleasant & attentive and as far as I could tell he was the only one. Food was good & they accommodated a request I had. While I would have like to have dined at one of the so called Farm To Table restaurants that Clayton is supposed to be known for - NONE were open! Im thankful to this restaurant & their staff that they were open. Had some good food & wine after a day of hiking and we were pleased. Enjoyable dinner.More
We enjoyed this restaurant immensely! We came here for brunch, lunch and dinner times on our visit to Clayton. Nice open, spacious dining inside as well as large outside dining area. We were never disappointed! Beautiful place, nice, friendly, helpful staff. Even when hustling they...made us feel welcome. The food was perfect everytime, very tasty! Thank you so very much!More
We were on a trip through Clayton and my wife spotted Mama G. Parking lot was full which is a good sign on a Thursday night.
Place is nothing fancy. Booths, tables, and a bar.
Ordered Bailey and coffee. Excellent. Got a double for the...price of a single. Nice way to start.
Solid Italian menu. All of your favorites. My bride had eggplant and I had baked ziti. Salads were excellent and the entrees were even better.
Waiter was great. Came around when needed and let us enjoy dinner.
Will go back. Fully recommend this restaurant.More
My husband and I recently dined at Mamma G's for dinner despite mixed TA reviews. We were pleasantly surprised when service was swift and food...delicious! Our server, Melissa, took our drink order within moments of greeting us. While many homemade entrees looked interesting, we decided...on veal marsala and chicken parmesean. Both selections were prepared to perfection! Tender veal and chicken melted in your mouth with each bite. Garlic oil butter bread knots were an added extra treat served alongside both entrees. Side salad and dinner servings were large meaning we had leftovers for tomorrow's lunch! With fantastic service, reasonable pricing, and tasty food, I look forward to our return visit to MGIR.More
I ordered dinner for twenty for takeout, and was told it would be :45 minutes. No problem I thought I’d get a beer at the bar while I waited.
The barkeeptress was extremely rude and left me standing for 20 minutes and wouldn’t acknowledge my...existence. I thought I must look like her ex boyfriend or something. Finally after all the people that arrived after me were served she got me a beer. I stood there with my credit card for ten minutes and finally gave up and walked out. When I came back in ten to get my takeout food she informed that now my food would be an additional 30 minutes wait.
I wish I knew what I did to tick her off but then I noticed she was not particularly nice to several other patrons.
I really don’t like to talk about the one bad employee because a restaurant shouldn’t be rated on their worst employee but this was over the topMore
It’s been a while since we ate here as the last time we came through in January it was a day they were closed😟. The food never disappoints. I couldn’t make my mind up what I wanted so I got a lasagna with beef and...a child’s portion of chicken Alfredo. Yum yum yum on both. The hubs loved his chicken parmigiana! That was the first time he has ordered it but he says it won’t be the last! The waiter seemed to be rushed but he was very pleasant. I believe they were short staffed as with most restaurants nowadays. Of course, I had to get to go boxes because there was no way I could eat all I ordered. I suggested they do a Taste of Italy option! Lol. The garlic rolls are sensational.More
This place was recommended by a friend who is a lifetime resident. Went for an early dinner the day before July 4th. We sat on the outside porch. Service was good and we never had to wait long for wait staff or our food.
I...had the 2 appetizers, the meatballs and marinara. I also had the fried mozzarella. I enjoyed both of them and had plenty to take home for another meal. My friend had the pasta alfredo and she said it was delicious. He portion was huge and she had enough for another meal.
I really enjoyed my meal and the porch has a great view of one of the mountain ridges. Big portions, reasonable prices. I will definitely go again.More
Staff is extremely pleasant, especially our waiter Ivan.
My Veal Marsala was really good, and my Wife (The Boss) had the veal parmigiana which was excellent as well.
Definitely worth a visit.
Reasonable pricing. Portions are huge.
