Ordered the steak tacos, I thought it was an appetizer. They used the smallest soft taco shells, 4", finger food. I'm a big guy so I left hungry. My guests enjoyed their meals but nothing to write home about. Great Martini's. The restaurant is beautiful along with the location.

Being locals we were excited to have an upscale place to eat near by. Beautiful facility to drive but not the best as a restaurant. Not very intimate or cozy despite some nice decorating touches. Loud. Service was a touch slow but the waiter was friendly. The food was average plus. Mahi portion was small with a very small amt of veggies and rice. Fish and chips was actually better. Fresh French fries were a surprise. The portion was larger also. Carrot cake for dinner was dry and not as good as Publix!! Salads had to be ordered separately which was disappointing. $70 bill for 2 meals and dessert. Pricey for an average experience. Probably won’t visit again unless portion sizes increase and/or prices drop. Too bad as a nice restaurant in a beautiful forest could be very special.

We booked for Mother’s Day eve after a day of blueberry picking in Williston. Unbelievably beautiful setting and amazing food. Probably the best I’ve had in Florida. We live in Gainesville and had never heard of it, just found on trip advisor. It is a beautiful setting, cobbled stone driveway, high end facility! Just really surprised that there could be such an amazing place in the middle of nowhere. Well done to whoever had this vision!

Had a great dinner last night at Black Prong. It's a nice space, and there was live music (nice jazz), perfect for dinner. The drinks and food were delicious and very reasonable. Friendly service. It's a bit off the beaten path, but worth making a trip to if you are in the area. Took us 20 mins from NW Ocala, which is probably faster than getting downtown. We will definitely go back.

In a word - UNDERWHELMING! I visited this restaurant twice in a matter of 3 weeks. Once was the day after Valentine's Day and they were out of a lot of the menu options I wanted. So, I settled for my third choice meal, Snapper Piccata. Again, underwhelmed. The flavor profile was barely noticeable, but what was very apparent was the LACK of amount of food on my plate. Normally a $27 meal would come with a salad and bread but instead I was served a child-sized portion of fish and a considerably small amount of pasta - see photo. (At least most restaurants try to trick you with a lot of pasta to fill up the plate!) It was really very disappointing. A few weeks later, a family member had a birthday to celebrate and since he had never been there and it was his choice, we again tried this restaurant. We had a large party of 12 and reservations, that part went well. Unfortunately, our positive experience ended there. Food! I mean, isn't that THE MOST IMPORTANT part of a restaurant? Well, once again we were disappointed. Several people at the table, including myself, ordered steaks: NY Strip, Filet and Wagyu beef sirloin. NONE of it was cooked according to the temperature we preferred. The steaks were charred to the extent of feeling like I was eating charcoal so I couldn't taste the flavor of the meat. The Wagyu was tough as nails (oh, by the way, that was served to our birthday guest of honor!) Then there was the Porterhouse Pork Chop that was so tough it was hard to cut and impossible to chew. That was returned to the kitchen, too bad the person who ordered it then sat and waited for a re-fire while the rest of the party ate. The replacement showed up at the end of everyone else's meal: FAIL! The only dishes that anyone in our party ordered that were good was the Redfish Pontchartrain Amandine and the calamari appetizer. Two people in our party on the first visit really enjoyed it. And three people on our second visit enjoyed it. Other than that, none of the food was to write home about. The staff is pleasant. We had the same waiter for both visits and he was OK but not on par with a high end restaurant. He did the job and nothing more. The atmosphere is very nice. It could use a few tweaks (our tables were pushed together and the wheels didn't lock so every time someone leaned on the table it squished the people on the other side). On our first visit there was live music and that was a nice touch. Overall, I have to say, we don't plan on returning. My sole purpose for this very honest and raw review is so that others don't spend a lot of money for a subpar experience. Everything is expensive these days and I understand that and am willing to pay higher prices, however, in return, I expect to at least walk away with a full stomach and a positive feeling from the experience.

The Black Prong Bar and Grill was a HUGE disappointment and a complete waste of our time on New Years Eve. My husband and I had gone to the Black Prong Bar and Grill for dinner about a week after it opened and although it had some glitches, the food was decent and we looked forward to finally having a good restaurant near Williston to go to, assumed it would get better and the limited food selection would improve. When the Black Prong advertised a New Years Eve dinner event, despite the high price for this area, ($100 per person), we booked a reservation. The price didn’t bother us if the food was going to be good since we wouldn’t have to drive a long distance for dinner if we drove to someplace like The Embers, Mark’s Prime Steakhouse or Shula’s. Big mistake going here. The food we were served appeared to be prepared by someone who had no idea at all how to plan and cook a good meal. The first “round” of food was supposed to be “Lobster Bisque and Key West Shrimp Shooter with Calabrian Chili Popcorn”. When it was brought to our table my husband and I just looked at each other like it was a joke!! What was brought to our table looked just pitiful. The waitress brought each of us a small shot glass of what was supposed to be Lobster Bisque with one dry shrimp hanging on the glass and a tiny bowl of popcorn on the side, which was tacky. You had to drink the “bisque” from the shot glass, which was the equivalent of two or three spoonfuls you’d get in a bowl of real lobster bisque in a fine restaurant. My husband and I like lobster bisque and have had it in many fine restaurants, SERVED IN A BOWL! This was terrible and tasted like fishy cocoa with a dry shrimp. The few pieces of popcorn were cold and dry and it was just a very tacky side which we didn’t eat. This first “round” of food was supposed to come with wine, what we thought would be a glass. The waitress poured me about an 1/8th of a glass, which I finished in three sips. I then sat there for about 20 minutes with no more wine and was not offered anymore. Then the second “round” of food came. It was supposed to be “Gently Smoked North Atlantic Dry Sea Scallops with yellow lentil cream, fresh peas, toasted hazelnuts and aged balsamic”. When it was served there was ONE, yes ONE scallop in the middle of a giant bowl sitting in some cold sauce. I then got my second ration of wine, plus my husband’s ration, to get a half of a glass. Next came the “main course” which was supposed to be “Grilled Black Angus Sliced Prime Rib Eye, Scalloped Yukon Gold Potato, Grilled Asparagus Tips and Lobster Butter”. When that was brought to our table the “Prime Rib Eye” looked like a thin breakfast steak you’d buy at Winn Dixie and it was cold and as tough as leather, surely not prime meat and definitely NOT sliced off of a piece of prime rib then grilled. The butter on top of the steak was so hard and cold it just sat on top of the steak. The potatoes were cold, as were the two tips of asparagus. Both my husband and I ate only a couple of bites and were highly upset that not only had we wasted our New Years Eve dinner, it was going to cost us $200 plus for all of this terrible food and one glass of wine!! We called over the manager, who didn’t seem like a bad guy but he appeared to be a young kid that was definitely not experiended to be running what was supposed to be an upscale restaurant. He seemed to have no clue what good food was supposed to be like. When we complained about the food he said, “Didn’t you look at the menu?” Wow. I told him if the menu listed what we were actually served— a SHOT GLASS of what was supposed to be lobster bisque, ONE dried up shrimp, some popcorn, ONE scallop in some cold sauce and a thin cold tough steak with a hunk of frozen butter on top, cold vegetables and ONE glass of wine, we never would have come there, certainly not for $200 plus!! Then he said that no one else had complained!! I didn’t really believe that. My husband and I have been to many upscale restaurants and if that was the case, others eating there either had no idea what good food was, or they just didn’t want to complain. We ended up turning down the final course, which was supposed to be dessert. The manager discounted our bill to $100 even though we didn’t have anywhere near $100 worth of food or wine. Sadly, our New Years Eve was a waste. Went home and foraged through the refrigerator to eat. Whoever bought the Black Prong appears to have put a ton of money into in it, and it looks great, but if the restaurant doesn’t change, sadly, it will not survive. It’s pretty perplexing that someone put that much money and effort into the place but didn’t employ someone who knows how to successfully run a good restaurant, and apparently didn’t hire a good chef. My husband and I retired and moved up here several years ago for peace and tranquillity, and love the area, but we always wished there was a good restaurant to go to. I’m sure others in this area wish that too. If this place stays open we will not return unless we hear it has changed.
