All reviews eggplant chips duck kingfish sashimi starters and mains ribs tapioca curry white fish kimchi beans asian fusion small plates set menu last night amazing food great place to enjoy a lot of money
Let me start by saying, this would have been a 5 star review if not for the parking or lack of parking. Xoong is a class above other Asian fusion restaurants. It mixes Chinese, Japanese and some Vietnamese.
Right in the center of Mount Eden...Road, Xoong is a beautifully appointed restaurant with seating for intimate dinners, group dinners or casual meals with friends. Be prepared to park blocks away or might I suggest taking an Uber to Xoong…
Extensive drink menu with quality wine choices, fun cocktails and mocktails. I recommend the Zodiac mocktail; it is light and refreshing.
Everything at Xoong is meant to be shared. They have small and big plates and an amazing assortment of fish, meat or vegetable dishes. We started with the tuna takaki, prawn & chive dumplings and fried squid. Beware of the chilies on the dishes if you are not an extreme spice person. The waiter pre- warned us to look for the chilies. All three dishes were on point, beautifully presented and tasted incredible. The wait staff never let our drinks be empty for long. They were pleasant and attentive.
The big plates we ordered were the duck fried rice and the wok tossed wagyu beef. Yum! The beef melted in your mouth and the duck fried rice was the best fried rice I have ever tasted and I am from New York. I have had lots of fried rice in Chinatown and all over Manhattan.
Xoong should be on your list. This is a must try restaurant. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy!More
Delicious Asian inspired food without lashings of sugar and bottled sauces
This is revolutionary step forward in the annals of NZ dining.
I so mean it
We had a whole baked snapper which was delicious and a sight for sore eyes and a beef cheek...curry; yummy also.
The only sour note was my partner complaining every time I supposedly attempted to take more than halfMore
Excellent food, ambience and location. Customer service is beyond exceptional. Our server was such a delight. Wish I knew her name. Got to meet the owner briefly who came to clear our plates - yes you heard right. A place where the owner gets in...right with everyone is bound to be successful as everyone is happy that shows in the food and the service.More

Had a wonderful night out at Xoong - food, drinks and service all excellent.
This was our first time there - certainly won’t be the last!
Highly recommend the Roast Duck and the Kopi Susu Martini, but everything I saw looked great.
