Ever so popular with family and friends. Bookings is necessary or else tables is often fully occupied. Most popular is their lobster noodle, which is a must have! Other dishes such as walnut shrimp, beef filet mignon, salted calamari, Kung Pao chicken were fairly descent!...Cooking was good although service should be more courteous and friendly! It reminded me of service in the 60s and early 70s of service HK style. Plates and bowls were just flying around the table! Price wise it’s pricey should one order seafoods!More

Every time I visit the OC, I must come here for their house special lobsters. They only serve large lobsters (5 pounds and above) and we normally have 7 pounders. My favorite lobster place so far.

FOOD & DRINKS I had the chance to eat lobster at this location on two occasions. I practically went here the next day again because we were invited. The first time we went here the lobster tasted dry and and not fresh at all. The...second time the lobster tasted wonderful. The lobster meat was juicy and fresh. Even the crab we ordered was good while the walnut shrimp the day before was not good at all. It was like night and day and if I had been able to put the dishes next to each other, you could just tell by looking. I don't know why the quality changed so much but the inconsistency really made me mad because you are paying quite a lot. SERVICE This one is hard to judge for me. While it seems the staff was very helpful and friendly, I always had the feeling that they were just faking or acting it. Especially after observing them when they were not serving customers. Plus sometimes when you complain about the food, they just ignore it silently. ATMOSPHERE Dirty old restaurant. Come here for the food and nothing else. RATING This review is based on two experiences. It would probably got at least a three star rating if it weren't for one thing. When you pay a hefty price for a quality product you expect to get that quality at all times. I really felt cheated after my first experience and that will last for a while. I personally will not come back here unless I get invited. Additional note: The picture I took was from the second day.More

My friends and I started the first day of our vacation with this five star restaurant. On our way to Newport Beach. Well, we were pleasantly surprised there was no one in the place. We got there at 2pm and it made us a little...weary to go into an empty 5 star review restaurant. We even had to ask if they were open. The service was unbelievable. As I’m sure most people that eat Chinese food out know that the service is usually pretty bad or just so so. This place took the cake on service. And of course they are known for there lobster 🦞 so we just had to have that. WOW! That’s all I have to say....More

I was brought here by a local who promised me good seafood. I wasn’t disappointed. 7 of us arrived at this unpretentious restaurant at 5:30 pm and we made up only one of two tables. Once past 6pm the place soon filled to the brim....I thought they were doing fine on a Tuesday evening ! Their specialty seems to be Maine Lobster as it was present at every table. We ordered two dishes of their fried lobsters and they were really delicious. In addition we tried their pan fried flounder, juicy prawns and fish soup. Cindy and Jeannie, together with a team of very well trained waiters led by Johnny made sure everyone had a good time. Highly recommended 🙏👏🙏👏More

We came here for lunch on Sunday. A lobster with house special sauce costed $104 + tax. The waiter said that the lobster is 4 1/2 pounds, but we doubted because our lobster looked small and he told other tables around us the same. The...noodle came with it costed $6 extra. The lobster tasteless, it was warm but not sizzling hot as expected from a fire-wok. The walnut shrimp dish costed $19.95 + tax, was the worse; about 20 medium shrimps and couple pieces of roasted walnuts; both were too soft, and too much mayonnaise, lobster and shrimp dishes were ways overpriced.More

This place serves fresh, well-prepared seafood to perfection. As others have mentioned, the lobster with garlic noodles are delicious and a must-have. Our party of 8 ordered it with a 7 lb lobster and we ate every bit of it. The black bean clams were...good as were the honey walnut prawns. My least favorite dish was the Hong Kong beef. It wasn’t very tender and nothing special. Pea sprouts and gai lan were fresh and tasty. Overall, a wonderful meal and good service. Wouldn’t hesitate to return here!!More

The inside resembles a Chinese dim sum restaurant. It is a single large room filled with six-foot round banquet tables in the center of the room. Tan Cang Newport Seafood is best known for their namesake, the Newport Lobster. As we waited for our food,...we couldn’t help noticing that every table around us was ordering this dish. There was a family of eight next to us and the waiter brought out a massive live lobster to show them what they were about to enjoy. The Crab Baked with Salt and Peppe tasted like it was stir-fried with garlic and onions and topped with green onions. An empty crab shell was placed on top to add to the presentation. The batter was both sweet and salty. Chinese stir-fried fresh clams in black bean sauce is a perfect summer dish. It had flavors of garlic, ginger, green onions and cilantro and is a classic Cantonese offering. A Maine lobster is blasted in a wok with green onions, jalapeños, black pepper and clarified butter. Underneath is a bed of addictive stir-fried garlic noodles. The result is a dish that you keep eating despite being full. It is the dish that creates a loyal customer following.More

We're from Northern California and a relative residing in LA brought us to this restaurant. Here, the lobster is cooked at its best. Presentation and taste was remarkable. In addition, the servers were attentive and personable. Our other favorites were the manila clams in black...bean sauce and fried deep flounder. We loved this place so much, we came back to eat again the next day. Definitely this place will be our MUST GO place to eat when we're back in town.More

Went here on a business dinner and ordered the lobster dish they are famous for. The lobster was delicious and the service was great. I expected the price to be as big as the lobster, but I was pleasantly surprised. All around a great meal...for a reasonable price.More

You cannot beat what they can do with lobster. Made the way you want chinese style. the owner are chinese vietnamese I believe. they speak chinese vietnamese, french and english. Other dishes are amazing. you have to get there early (you are safe if you...get there 6-6:30pm) else you may have to wait during the weekday. Wkds not sure. Normally we pick a lobster in the 10pd range but when we visited, they didn't have any 10 pounders so we ended getting 2 6 pounders. Really good food.More

I ve never had lobsters cooked this way before. It was deep fried and probably rolled in spices that made it so flavorful and succulent. Delicious! The lobsters were huge and I must have eaten 1 piece by myself with the tasty garlic noodles.
