Handmade pastas and other tasty Italian dishes are available in this restaurant right across the Grand Central Market. They’re Michelin Bib Gourmand as well! It’s a solid spot for a date night but they can accommodate bigger groups as well. They’re currently offering outdoor dining during covid and won’t seat you until your entire party is there. Came here most recently with a group of five and were seated right away on a Saturday around 1:30pm. Otherwise, you should probably expect a little bit of a wait. You can park at the grand central market garage ($3 for up to 90 min, no validation needed). They serve you bread (and offer chili oil with your balsamic vinegar and olive oil, which actually packs some heat). I got the agnolotti which comes with a vibrant salsa verde sauce and is filled with tender meat. The pasta was perfectly chewy and I cleaned up my plate. My sister’s favorite is the black and white pasta with the seafood. They do have appetizers available - the mozzarella sticks we had were pretty standard. If you save room, they do have desserts or you can walk across the street to GCM as another option. Overall, you can’t go wrong with any of the pastas here.

Recently found ourselves in downtown LA with only an hour for a meal. Faced with a dizzying list of new restaurants in the area and a food court full of variety across the street at Grand Central Market, we opted to pull a favorite from our back pocket and it certainly hit the spot. Walking in, we already knew what to order: Calamari In Zimino ($15): grilled calamari steak sautéed in EVOO and roasted garlic. This is the best appetizer on the block Bianchi & Neri ($18): black & white pasta with shrimps, mushrooms and pancetta in creamy sauce. Perfectly al dente in delicious creamy sauce that I can’t get enough of *chef’s kiss* Lasagna ($16): layer upon layer of beef, cheese and pleasure So great to be back at Maccheroni Republic. It is a reliable oldie but goodie. It’s comfortable and dependable. It’s like an old shirt in your closet that you pick when it’s hard to decide what to wear. We will keep returning to this family-owned restaurant and will order the same 3 things on the menu because it’s what works for us. There’s metered street parking and public lots. They automatically add 18% service charge so keep this in mind when leaving additional gratuity. For dessert, best to cross to the Grand Central Market for a scoop of pistachio amaretto at McConnell’s Ice Cream. While you’re in the area, why not go for a ride at Angel’s Flight?! Bon appetit! My husband and I came here for our anniversary. We love fresh homemade pasta! Saw it months ago but didn’t want to (didn’t have time to) stand in line for a table. They don’t take reservations (hence the 4 stars). Last night we got here by 5:15 and were sat promptly. We chose to sit outside on the tree lined patio with the heaters. It was beautiful. We ordered the calamari steaks on a bed of sautéed Swiss chard for starters and they were absolutely delicious. Would come back just for those. We ordered the tortellini with arrabiata sauce and the eggplant rigatoni. The tortellini were excellent. The arrabiata didn’t have a lot of heat but luckily there was some chili oil on the table ❤️ The rigatoni were good too, but were a bit dense. Not bad, but not great. They don’t have a huge selection of wines by the glass, but there’s something for everyone and I got the carmignano (recommended by our waiter) and it was delicious. The only thing that was disappointing was the bread. I love some yummy bread to mop up the sauce with. Wait staff was awesome and We both agreed we’d go back.

I loved this place. I came in on a Monday evening without reservation, and was seated immediately. The food was delicious, the service was lightening quick, with plenty of servers milling about, and the prices are very reasonable. The handmade pasta that i had was phenomenal and with the salad, cannoli dessert and decaf espresso for a topper, my meal was exactly what I wanted for an italian meal. I highly recommend this place when in downtown LA.

I am Italian and I do not eat Italian food outside Italy. I have tried many times (I have been living outside Italy for 25 yrs now), but I am always disappointed. I get my fix of Italian food when I go to Italy every year. BUT, today, I walked past this restaurant after a long business meeting and I got intrigued by the pasta shop next to the restaurant and I was hungry. Wow! I ordered the beetroot & fiordilatte carpaccio and the Bianchi&Neri pasta. Pure perfection. For a second i thought I was in Italy. Perfect ambience, service and a great Spritz! The vanilla cream reminded me of the budino Mum used to make when I was a child. I cant wait to visit LA again!

They have lots of open outdoor tables in a setting that is very attractive and pleasant. The food was quite good and the price surprisingly reasonable (particularly for downtown LA). My only cavil was that the gnocchi was a tiny bit too salty. The service was prompt and cordial.

The food was great, we could definitely tell that the pasta and bread were fresh. Nothing like I've had before!! We also got fried mozzarella and it was absolutely delicious and the sauce that went with it.......chefs kiss The staff was also great, they were attentive and gave good suggestions and recommendations on drinks and food.

Although we had to wait a while for a table it was worth it. We share the Gnocchi, the Ravioli, the Tortelloni, and the Rigatoni and enjoyed the tastiness and lightness of each. I should note that there is very little other activity in the neighborhood, so that the walk from the parking area may involve negotiating empty streets.

Maccheroni Republic is in Downtown LA and right across the street from The Grand Central Market on Broadway. It has a beautiful long alley of flowers and calmness. The place is so pretty. It is decorated so nicely and it is comfortable and welcoming. It is real nice. The service is amazing. They will take good care of you. I suggest a reservation. We did not have one but were able to get a table right away, we were lucky. All the seats are comfortable. The servers know their menu and the wine list, which is very nice. There is something for everyone at Maccheroni Republic. Even a vegan can get a good meal and not just a salad. Their salads are great though. Our favorite is their Gnocchi and their fried shrimp. It is so great. All of their sauces are top notch and all pasta is cooked perfectly. They have some desserts that are just so tasty. We had their Gnocchi, fried shrimp and wonderful salad and a calamari dish that was out of this world. Their Gnocchi is a must try. Their pasta and meatballs is a favorite of my grandson. Have a great time.

Outstanding Italian in downtown LA. Visiting family and whilst taking in the main attractions we stopped here for lunch. It was a Monday so plenty of space fortunately. The service was outstanding and matched perfectly by the food we all shared. The pasta is made in a site right behind the Restuarant and you can look and see it being made. Two of our table ordered the black and white pasta special which was outstanding. Highly recommend and if you drive we parked in a multi-storey right behind the joint.

Stumbled onto this gem by chance during the week. Got lucky with an outdoor table under the heater. It’s possible they were short staffed as we had the owner wait on us. Fantastic pasta and the BEST dessert (cheesecake) I have ever had, anywhere! Had such a great meal my wife and I went back a few nights later and we both ordered the exact same meal we had 2 nights earlier, including the same bottle of wine. We will be back next time we are in LA

This lovely little place up near the central market focusses on handmade pastas and fresh ingredients and it shows. The pasta was al dente, the sauces rich and full of flavour. We loved it so much we came back a 2nd night

Just around the corner from our hotel after a long day of sightseeing we discovered this little gem. We had to wait for about 20 minutes for a table, the restaurant is small with a nice vibe to it and a pretty terrace area. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the food simple and tasty and great value. We shared a burrata and tomato chutney starter which was delicious followed by the seafood linguine and trifolgi del fattore both were amazing. Throw in a beer and a bottle of Rose for a little over a hundred dollars, what is not to like! Great location, service and food definitely worth a visit.

We loved this restaurant! We were originally told 30 minute wait but it was actually only about 10 minutes. They have an area outside to stand and wait with some greenery. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is so great. Lots of trees, plants, and even heaters on the patio. Two of us got wine and two got beer. They surprisingly didn’t have Peroni, but they liked the Italian beers on the menu. We each got different entrees and all loved them. Lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs, Maccheroni stellari, and rigatoni Pom’amore. The garlic bread is also a must for appetizer. Our server was great and attentive. This is also next to Grand Central Market so we checked that out after. We will be back!! P.S. we walked from the Westin and there was a block or two that was questionable as far as safety so we may take an Uber next time. Just a note if you’re walking the same route to the restaurant at night.

This is a neighborhood gem in downtown Los Angeles. The fresh, hand-made pasta we sampled was delicious. It was very hard deciding what to order among the dishes, so we will definitely go back to try some more. The flourless chocolate cake was also scrumptious. The owner was very friendly and helpful with menu choices. The restaurant has a nice outdoor dining area. Prices were modest, especially in comparison to most downtown restaurants. I think this may be my favorite place for pasta in L.A.
