Other than the rather off-putting area that it is located in, I was so happy to finally arrive at this vintage gem to see what all the fuss is about. Old leather booths, counter, pie displays, and a veteran wait staff that were not only excellent servers, but very friendly and gracious as well! The #19 (pastrami sandwich) is THE sandwich to order, unless, like me, you don’t eat pastrami, so instead, I ordered the tuna melt at the waiter’s suggestion. It was THE TASTIEST tuna melt I have ever had. The rye bread is sooooo scrumptious. Had to have a taste of the potato knish and the apple pie a la mode - both of which were to DIE FOR as well. The food was absolute perfection, although the prices are quite high, but believe me, you won’t leave feeling ripped off. Took home half the sandwich and enjoyed it the next day for lunch. I would definitely come back again!

Unbelievable menu, though I normally go for the No. 19 with corned beef rather than pastrami, Iove how they cut their meats thicker than most delis so you get the moist taste of the meats and of course their twice baked rye bread is phenomenal though I normally don't like rye bread. Great service, amazing food and Norm Langer has a magnificent legacy from his Dad.

I am a pastrami fanatic. Finding a restaurant that makes its own pastrami is like finding a gold mine - almost impossible, but worth all the effort. Not only does Langer's make their own pastrami, but they nailed it!! Perfect texture, perfect level of fat, subtle but amazing flavor. I did not even order any sandwich to go with the pastrami, just eggs. My waitress was super nice and guided me as to the best dishes to order. I ordered three entrees because the food was perfectly prepared, even the sunny side up eggs were spot on! My compliments to the chef, the staff, and the effort at making deli food as delicious as it can be!

Located on the corner of 7th and Alvarado in the Westlake district of Los Angeles (near MacArthur Park), Langer’s is a Jewish-style delicatessen that has been open for business since 1947. My wife and I had lunch there in mid-August 2022. They maintain their own monitored parking lot at the northeast corner of 7th Street and Westlake, one block east of the restaurant. Parking is validated for 90 minutes, so be sure to get the ticket from the attendant and have it stamped by the cashier when you leave. NOTE that their current hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, so don’t plan on having dinner there. This being our first visit to Langer’s Delicatessen, we each felt compelled to order their most famous sandwich, the “Number 19.” Oh my gosh, are we ever glad we did! The hand-cut pastrami was moist, succulent and savory (and plentiful), the cole slaw added great texture, the Swiss cheese was not too strong, and the rye bread (baked in house) was pillowy soft with a crunchy crust. It is not a wimpy sandwich, so be prepared for the onset of food coma if you eat the entire sandwich. The service we received was friendly, attentive and efficient, and the dining room was kept quite clean. This is a very popular restaurant, so be prepared to wait … but don’t worry, one bite of the #19 will make the wait worthwhile.

I visited with 3 people from the east coast and we all agree this is the best pastrami we've ever had. We were a large party (6) but the hostess was so nice and seated us right away. Service was excellent. Our server, Frank was super helpful and friendly (the sandwiches are BIG and you can order a half with matzo ball soup) Oh, and the cheesecake!

I have been to Katz deli and if we were to rate the experience i would have to say Langers win hands down. First the process isn't so confusing like Katz much much easier and they checked your covid and vaccination forms which was a plus. What i liked about Langers was the meat was delicious which honestly Katz was also perfect but what blew us away was the bread. It was soft and delicate and delicious. The pickles were crunchy and delicious. The liver was awesome and rich. Coleslaw was fresh and tangy. We got the number 19 and the platter to share for 4 people and we had to take home leftovers. Really Good. You cannot miss this place or else you'd really regret it.

Great pastrami sandwich. Russian dressing was excellent. Very expensive because of the name. I would probably get the hot pastrami to get the bread grilled next time as the bread was a bit soggy. Cool atmosphere inside. Neighborhood around was overrun with homeless.

We stopped in for lunch at Langer's. A couple of things impressed us right off the bat--that they were very diligent about checking our vaccination paperwork and that the wait staff was very attentive. The menu is extensive and all of the dishes, while pricy, are huge and well-made. My wife had her first matzo ball and I had my first egg cream, both of which were fun.

The #1 Pastrami sandwich was $23.50. It was ok. A tiny cup of chicken soup with one matzo ball was $6.00 each. The soup was very diluted and not tasty. Iced tea was $4.50. The bill before tax was $40. See the picture for half of the $23.50 sandwich looks like. Not worth it at all.

Without a doubt, this place serves the most exceptional pastrami I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. The pastrami and brisket simply melt in your mouth, delivering an unforgettable experience. In fact, I must declare that this is, without a doubt, the finest deli I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.

Today was my first visit to Langer's, and it was fantastic. We shared a hot pastrami with sauerkraut and chili cheese fries. The fries were piping hot and stayed that way till the last bite. The pastrami was incredibly tasty and high-quality. Service was excellent, and the food arrived quickly. While the prices are steep, sharing a dish makes it worth it for the amazing taste.

Loved the whole experience. The service was extremely helpful and friendly. Started with the creamed herring. The plate was filled with pickles, radishes, olives, and of course the creamed hearing. It also comes with rye bread, but since I was going to follow up with a pastrami sandwich I opted out of the extra. The pastrami was the crown jewel however. The rye bread was fresh and soft with the contrasting crunch of the crust. The pastrami was the Jewish equivalent to Texas BBQ, just the right amount of fat with a great bark. A Los Angeles institution that you just have to try.

Number 19 sandwich was the best sandwich I have ever had…no exaggeration.. staff were really friendly and helpful. It may seem pricey but it is so worth it. The sandwich was big enough for 2. Also, the pancakes were delicious. There is free parking down the street which you need to get ticket validated at deli…

I also had the #19 and a coffee. My brother and I weren’t really hungry. We wanted a salad but since they were closed for 2 days, they didn’t have that ready. Which was fine. Anyway since we just ordered beverages and a sandwich, they separated the sandwiches for us. I thought that was a nice touch that we didn’t have to ask. I’ve had pastrami sandwiches a few times in my life but this one is the best I’ve ever had in my life. The reason is the rye bread. It had a crunch crust and it was so soft in the middle but it didn’t get soggy. I ate my sandwich slowly too. The coleslaw with the Swiss cheese was a good balance. Also the meat was moist and I thought the entire sandwich went together really well.

Having watched Phil Rosenthal go to Langer’s on his tv show, I thought I’d give it a try when visiting my daughter in LA. I had the “number 19” with pastrami, coleslaw and Swiss cheese on rye. I’ve been to many famous delis back east in my life including Katz’s Deli, but this was the best pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had in my life! It was unbelievably good! If you like deli food, you need to go to this restaurant when you’re in LA!
