We came upon The Social List when shopping 4th Street in Long Beach. It was not busy when we arrived so we were pleased to find a nice outside table. The server arrived quickly & the food came quickly, but we had a hard time getting service after that. We got up to get our own salt & pepper, I never was checked on to order another drink and no water refills were given. I had a Nightingale which was a delicious refresher & we enjoyed the wedge salad, the beet salad & the Steak Diane.

Nice spot in Long Beach for cocktails and a meal.
The staff was friendly and attentive. Service was great.
Their Crab Cakes Benedict were delicious.
The bartender also makes a mean Spicy Bloody Mary.
Worth a visit if you’re ever in the area.

I visited The Social List for the first time with friends for an early dinner; it is a want-to-be wine bar with a bad selection of cheap wine and a few draft beers serving American comfort food and vegan dishes. Its location on 4th Street with inside and outside sidewalk tables makes it very popular, so if you must eat here, come early or make a reservation. As it was still early, we were seated very quickly. Unfortunately, that's when it all started to go wrong. Our server must have been new because she needed help finding our table past all the other servers gathered at the front door.
Eventually, we were brought water by a busboy, but there were no coasters to put the glass on, so wet puddles appeared on the table. The same thing happened when our draft beer arrived. We asked for coasters, and after quite a while, two black cocktail paper napkins came. My bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon house table wine Line 39 turned out to be a Trader Joe's $5:99 special updated to $32:00 and tasted like it. Everybody must make a living; even a better grade of box wine served in their carafe would have been acceptable.
My friends ordered various dishes, but I was not very hungry; I just wanted something simple and fresh-tasting. So, I ordered French onion soup, and a wedge salad eventually. (Staff still had trouble finding our table).
The onion soup was a tepid brown liquid with no onions and a couple of croutons floating on top with a sliver of what I supposed could have been gruyere cheese but was too small to recognize. As for the wedge salad, check out the attached photo; it was a mountain of white sauce sprinkled with tomatoes and a red onion ring over a warm pile of Lettice; the bacon bits did not disappoint me, as there weren't any. I could not eat this warm, gooey mess, so I gave it to one of my friends who would eat anything.
Once again, trying to attract our server's eye, I managed to wave her down again and place an order for plain bread and butter. The Busboy cleared our table, and our drinks were finished when we managed to attract somebody's attention. They brought the bill but not the bread and butter they had charged for; upon pointing this out, our server disappeared (Half an hour, timed her this time just for fun). She returned with a plate of toast. Now, it was a point of principle to send it back, and after another long wait, a different server appeared with a simple plate of bread and butter. To say that the food was mediocre would be unfair to the bread.
TIP: Parking is a nightmare around this part of 4th Street in Long Beach, so unless you live within walking distance, go where the parking is more accessible and the food is better. There are other restaurants nearby if the line here is too long!

We went here for dinner last night and had one of those really great meals that get you excited to come back and try other things. The cauliflower appetizer was super good - spicy but not overpowering. The California seafood pasta - also very tasty. Chicken Cordon Bleu - again really good. Chicken Picata - yum. We had 6 different cocktails between the 3 of us and we enjoyed them all too. Service was a bit spotty - but they were full and maybe not enough staff for a busy Monday night - glad we made reservations as people were turned away at 7PM. I have heard they are packed at brunch on the weekends. I understand why if the food is all this tasty and for the city - not bad prices either. Atmosphere is casual and warm - they do have patio seating as well. It's isn't a big place, so make plans ahead.

Come here for Happy Hour, really good selection for 50% Off. The appetizers are delicious. Must try the Castro Fries and the Chicken Lettuce Wrap. The drinks are excellent as well.
Great experience, the staff are friendly. Definitely a good place to hang out.

The food here is fresh and delicious! I love the way they can turn the ordinary to extraordinary! I had the kale salad recently with grilled salmon and it was the best tasting salmon I have had in months!! Servers are really nice and I look forward to going on the weekend for brunch.

There's no shortage of great places where you can get an excellent brunch in Long Beach, but The Social List stands out as something the same, but a little bit different. Just walking in the place tells you this is going to be a bit eclectic, but based on a recommendation from a friend, we gave it a try, and we're glad we did! The menu has some interesting offerings - familiar fair but with some flair! I fell in love with the crab cakes benedict. Probably some of the best crab cakes I've had on the west coast. The poached eggs were done just right and the hollandaise sauce was perfection. And the portions were just right. Not too much (as is often the case) but not too little. My daughter had the Roman Eggs, a combination that I would never have imagined, but they were divine! As for the rest of our party, the breakfast burger and the chicken-fried steak and eggs were also exceptional. Prices were moderate, another refreshing surprise, and the coffee was top notch. This was our first visit to this place (my wife's second), and you can be sure we'll be coming back. The other menus beyond brunch looked just as creatively delicious. Add to this a really nice selection of craft beers and spirits and I would think the night life is as good as brunch. I should warn you, however, that this is not a "fast food" kind of place. It's better to say that the food is "crafted," which means they're not anxious to turn tables, but instead want to give you a good dining experience. This is all another way to say that some people might consider the service to be slow. But for a lazy weekend brunch, I was OK with not having everything feel rushed, especially since they kept pouring the coffee. Here's hoping The Social List will be around for a good long while

I am a staunch capitalist so the name alone makes me want to puke in a bucket and share freely with all! This maybe the first experience in my life where I’m glad they shared their socialist ideals with all. Hidden gem in Long Beach! You need to try the Napoleon burger! One of the best I’ve had!

Decided to give it another try.
The backyard burger (fancy name for bacon cheeseburger) was over cooked. The taste of charred meat (especially from the charcoal crust around the patty), permeated and remained long after my last bite. I could see where they were trying to go with this burger. They just didn't get there in my opinion.
The French fries were soaked in grease.
The social wings however flavorful, were cooked in such a way, that the meat close to the bone was really dried out. It actually stabbed my mouth while chewing. No bueno!
The house made ranch was really good as was the jalapeño infused bacon.

The variety of choices are very good on the menu. I have been here four times and the food is always good. The tap beer selections are excellent and the craft cocktails are reasonably priced and delicious. The happy hour is a very good deal. Other than that, it can be a little on the pricey side for such a small neighborhood place. But the burgers are excellently cooked. So a little upscale on the pricing but the value is there. You can dine outside or indoors. Many vegan options. If you are in the neighborhood, definitely worth a visit as a neighborhood gem. Only caveat: avoid the french onion soup.

Ordered the Major Tom with a side of Patatas Bravas. The burger was excellent. Great flavor. Good mesh of ingredients. The fried egg yolk was hanging of the side and then busted which made it a messy eat but good none the less. The Patatas were pretty good, having traveled extensively through Spain, especially the Basque country, I have an high expectation for those dishes but it was good. I would come back and recommend it to somebody in the area.

While visiting family with small children, we had a late lunch at The Social List. It is located in a trendy area. Plenty of seating with some high chairs for little ones, both indoors and outdoors. Cafe menu with many options, including a children's menu. Nice beverage list, including wines and craft beers. Servings are generous and fresh. Easy access for wheelchairs and strollers. Excellent for brunch. There is a Happy Hour for those who wish to imbibe.

I am new to the area and this place has quickly become my local favorite. The Avocado Toast is a must...The Meatballs are a must...I could go on with a list of all my favorites but you just need to go and taste for yourself!
