I've been to many Indian restaurants locally and internationally. This restaurant hands down is better than any I have had thus far. Good service and great food = an amazing experience. I will be coming back.

Delicious food, great drinks and wonderful service! Out of the way in the corner of a center off Stockdale but worth finding. Excellent Indian cuisine at reasonable prices. My wife and I ate at the bar and bar tender Farrah made some really tasty food recommendations in addition to mixing great drinks! We don’t usually post reviews but the quality of the food at Viceroy is so far above any other restaurant in town that we wanted to take time to let everyone know. You will be very glad you went!

Finally got the opportunity to try Viceroy Indian Cuisine. Heard some great things about this restaurant. Our friends invited us to join them for dinner. The interior of this establishment is quite nice especially compared to the other Indian restaurants in Bako.
How was the food you ask? Well, for the most part, everything tasted decent. Some entrees were a bit too salty. Some entrees were lacking in flavor. Honestly, the best tasting items were the Naan.
Our friends we were with said that the chefs must of been having an off night. They are regulars at Viceroy, and they said the food has always been better. So I'm sure that wifey and I will dine at Viceroy again in the future. Hopefully, things will be better, and I can update this review accordingly.

The food and the ambience here are top notch. We tried many different dishes and all were good.
We met the cook Ricky and our waiter was very sweet! Eat here!

I arrived just after opening - there were only two other customers at that point. The restaurant interior looks very nice - it strives for, and achieves, a subtle elegance. While most restaurant buffets go for the 'food well ' style of trays, Viceroy uses round chafing dishes, which i must admit looks considerably more attractive, on a counter that has a nice kind of 'L' shaped layout. My waiter, 'GP' was gregarious and was happy to explain the options, the layout, and suggested the Viceroy Drink. Buttered Naan was delivered. OMG There's both vegetarian and meat appetizers, a nice variety of veggie dishes, the expected standards (Tandoori chicken, dal, samosas, kheer) and a few surprises [coconut sauce, peanut sauce]. The staff is attentive but does not hover. I did two passes at the buffet, one to get little samples of each item, the second to get more generous servings of my favorites. I also had the signature cocktail. Overall, the experience was a good one, but there are several issues that might be attended to, in order to make this a great restaurant.
First, there is very soothing, not-quite-jazz music playing at a perfect volume level in the dining room. But back in the kitchen, there is loud Bhangra music playing, which blasts the diner every time the kitchen door swings open. As the restaurant got busier, this became an issue, as the door got busier too.
Second, even though they had just opened, all the food was lukewarm at best.
Third, All the tandoori was dry. Never having seen chicken breast as a tandoori choice, i tried it. It was beyond dry and inedible.... almost tandoori jerky. I left it on the plate.
Last, there is a bottleneck between the bar seating and the bend of the chafing counter where two people could barely pass each other. Thank goodness that seat at the bar was unoccupied... I plan to return for dinner, as this was the buffet lunch, and you can't judge a restaurant simply by that..

This is a quality Indian Restaurant. Plenty of selection, everything is fresh, and the service is excellent. Lots of drink selections including Indian tea, mango lassi, and various fruit drinks. Interestingly for an Indian restaurant, a high-end bar. Relatively mild spice for Indian food. We really liked it as the rich taste of the food came through, but some might think it too mild. We were there for the weekend lunch buffet; most Indian restaurants don't have that.

We go riding almost every day on the River Walk biking trail and had been watching this restaurant being put together. We kept saying, my husband and I, had no idea what Indian Food was, except for curry, so we would have to give this place a try, when it opens. Lucky for us they have a buffet so we could try many different things and see what we liked. I had asked if the foods were labelled at the buffet and she they were. Well, they were but we still had no idea what they were. We both took a little of everything and when we got back to the table the waitress came by and told us what the stuff was on our plates. There was this green stuff which she said was like cottage cheese and spinach mixed together with peas. Sounds bad but was really good. There was a tray of Veg. appetizers, which had egg rolls and mini corn on the cobs, which were spicy, but very good. There were chicken wings, chicken dishes, and even a goat dish. The food was very good and spicy. It also had deserts and until the end, it was there just hadn't seen it, but it was kind of like a salad bar thing. I would suggest you try the buffet, like we did, to see what you like. When I say it is spicy, it is not like Mexican hot spice, but a different one, hard to explain.With the buffet they ask if you want garlic, butter or plain Naan bread, go with the garlic we loved it.
