I went in and ordered the penne arrabbiata and the carbonara. When it came the penne was littered with chilli peppers and a bit of tomato sauce. The carbonara was soggy and looked like someone dumped a cup of cream in it. Had 3 bites...and left.More
Among the 5 a la cartel restaurants at Chic Vespa is by far the worst one. Pasta has a weird taste of flour and the tomato sauce; which is the cornerstone for any Italian dish has a bitter, almost metallic taste. It’s probably canned tomato...sauce that they just heat up. They use this sauce in more or less every dish so it’s a big issue. Fish doesn’t taste fresh which is strange as the fish in the other restaurants at the resort didn’t taste like it had been frozen.
We gave Vespa 2 chances. The pizza is ok; the rest disappoints. You are better off visiting any of the other a la carts places or the buffet, they all deliver high quality food.More
Vespa was open 3 times during our 7-night stay during the offseason which was a tad bit disappointing since the spaghetti with meatballs was terrific and so was the asparagus and parmesan risotto. however, the gnocchi was soft and bland.
Overall, I would go back...many times more if it was available.More
